  • KROQ Classic!

  • one of the most creative man alive - does everyone know that this band changed into "Underworld" and was one of the most influential bands in the 90's, plus the album "Underneath the radar" in 1988 was awesome.

  • A group of guys living the new romantic dream. I think they knew it would never last, but what a heartfelt piece of musical poetry they made. Thank you Freur

  • palm pre commercial used this song :\

  • I used to like this song when i was a child but i forgot all about this song until i heard it on let me in

  • i never get tired of this song. and they are just too cool!!

  • ha! i thought this was so funny, i sent this song to a teenager named, " lillynick1" and he wrote back, " that was awful!" i just laughed. it's just amazing how different music effects us all so differently. this song brings tears to my eyes it's so beautiful...

  • I MUST HAVE BEEN TOO HIGH MISSED IT

  • this song symbolizes the 80's early 90's

some great times and great music

    man I miss them

  • I like the music from the 80s.

  • I am in love with this song, first time heard it in a movie in the early 90's..

  • Like this song because of "LET ME IN".. I've seen the movie vanilla sky, but strangely never took notice of this amazing song.

  • thumbs up if you had or have this song on cassette from back in the 80's when it came out and didn't need to be sent here by anyone or anything because you have a mind of your own and know a great fucking song when you hear one!

  • @bornflippy1 Well said. I have the original vinyl. Some of us knew good music before these latecomers were born.

  • @MrRik2 after i hear this song, i don't even wanna hear another...

  • @m1kewithaone The rest of the album's not bad either, though. :)

  • @MrRik2 ok thanx, i've never heard anything else by them, i don't think.

  • i don't know the lyrics to this one. but it just seems real sad.

  • @bornflippy1 i didn't have it. but i heard it on the radio and just never knew who it was till recently. i just told someone that the"ravonettes" are my favorite band, whenever i hear anything by them, i get chills all over. but when i hear this song, i get goose bumps, and my eyes well up... why?

  • @m1kewithaone Kewi they capture a certain sense of sadness with the music..the lyrics are basically about a lost love and wondering where they are now..these guys had those keyboards all sussed out ..way before their time..this song would be a hit if it came out yesterday..and as far as I know they only released one album that made it to the states ..they might have a couple floating around in Germany or Europe although I am sure they are hard to find after all these years. Peace

  • @bornflippy1 "and know a great fucking song when you hear one!" That's exactly what happened when I heard it in that good scene from "LET ME IN," doesn't mean you can't think for yourself and not everyone was around when this song came out in 1983 to buy it on cassette (if I was of age, at that time, I most likely would have). Movies sometimes serve as reminders for good songs.

  • @codename4777 Agreed and that movie is awesome too...

  • I love this song to death! I really like the live version that's on YouTube right now. The band sounded really great live. And Karl Hyde looked so good in that concert footage! Wow is he hot!!!!

  • This was in Vanilla Sky before Let Me In.

  • what is let me in?

  • it's a movie that came out last year. you should check it out chloe moretz is a vampire( she's the girl from kick ass)

  • Ahhh after long research, YIPPEE KI YAY MOTHER I GOT IT! Vanilla Sky!!

  • I remember this from way before it was in any movie... KYYX in Seattle played it.

  • Forgot about this one. I searched this section on Facebook called Memorable Status Update and my cousin posted the song title as his status and it blew me away. It was like this song completely faded from my memory....until now. Great song!

  • Like if you're here because of Kindertrauma.

  • loved "let me in" but actually heard this one in "vanilla sky" first

  • ABBY!

  • i like it!!

  • like this comment if you were introduced to this song at outdoor lab or a camp =)

  • god, that's brilliant.

  • Comment removed

  • What the hell is this guy playing at 1:37

  • This song played during the most pivotal part of the movie, and the turning point in Owen and Abby's relationship...

Dammit Owen, why did you have to cut your thumb with your knife? You messed up everything... :(((

  • Vanilla Sk y <3 :)

  • Let me in and Vanilla Sky are two of my favorite romance movies. Both are American remakes though

  • LET ME IN!!!!!!!!

  • I miss the 80s

  • Had to sing this at outdoor lab. =/

Thumbs up if you live/lived in Colorado and know what dat iz

  • @popstar949 OMG!!! I totally came here because of that song!

This is better than that damn cafeteria song!

  • @xxKECBxx i know, seriously!! jesus, it took me like 20 min to find it! what outdoor lab did u go to?? -Morgan H.

  • @rmrpbabe11 I was one of the high school leaders last year at evans

  • @xxKECBxx really..... whatz ur name? i was at evans. :D

  • @rmrpbabe11 What school?

  • @xxKECBxx Creighton. obviously not a leader.. :D

  • @rmrpbabe11 Obv. lol. I went up with Pennington and Prospect Valley

  • @xxKECBxx shit! i actually got kinda excited! :(

  • @xxKECBxx i mean slater

  • @popstar949 Dancing around that the tables, flicking our hands, just to eat some damn lunch.

  • @xxKECBxx Haha Ikr. It was dumb. This iz better

  • NO I heard this song in Vanilla Sky, in the elevator tide with "TECH SUPPORT!!!". They are still around too, under the Name of Underworld,

  • Yeah I heard it on LET ME IN, it has that moody, other worldly sound I like.

  • so beautiful this song- can't believe i missed this in my favourite all time movie vanilla sky- but thank you 'let me in'(another awesome movie!) for hearing how awesome this song is! sends chills down my spine everytime- makes me think about life this song...simply amazing!

  • makes me like if i was in heaven

  • Just watch the movie Let me In! and this this song was on their! great song!

  • Sounds better on youtube than from a cassette player.

  • Really nice song , good memories ;)

  • Whomever does not like this song should be kicked thrice in the groin

  • LET ME IN. CHLOE MORETZ!

  • @Semi9Productions

I actually thought she was the same girl in Peter Pan (2003), Rachel Hurd. I didn't realize how old that movie was though, and how old Chloe was in LET ME IN. haha

  • @Semi9Productions INDEED! :)

  • i just noticed at 3:43, its like the rubik's cube

  • bellissima!

  • Great song and great movie too (Let me in).

Especially Chloe Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Man they did a great job.

Somehow the movie did a lot to me. I quess friendship is what we're all looking for...

  • @maddrex77 This song went perfect with that scene. It captured the mystery, darkness, and adolescent wonder all at once.

  • @BigJonOnline lol, it's funny how many people downvoted your comment, but it's exactly right. In the American movie, that's all she was doing, and the boy would end up in the same situation as the old man did. The book is different though, and that's not what she was doing in it.

  • Great song! i always wanted know the name of this song. And the movie Let Me In helped me find it. LOVE THE 80's forever.

  • Great Freur!!! In the 80's this single was must popular!!! The band in the 90's became the Undeworld!!! famous with the single Born slippy inside the Trainspotting OST....AMAZING!

  • Glad this song is named, "Doot, Doot" otherwise I never would have found it.

  • Noticed this song in 2001 watching Vanilla Sky. Obviously no Itunes at the time.

Watched 'Let Me In' the other night and it blew my mind again almost a decade later. Except this time had my Shazaam next to me, pressed 'Buy' button without thinking and been listening to this track for the past 3 days. What a masterpiece!

  • God, I remember trying to dance like the guy in the blue and thinking I was so fucking cool! Actually I probably looked like a real pratt. Haaa! Another time, I was trying to dance like him (again) to this song and I was a bit wobbly. Pissed to bits. And I fell over on the dance floor and fractured my wrist. Those were the days!!

  • Hey, no Vanilla Sky for me, or Let Me In, I saw this on telly when it was first released in 1984 or roundabout then. and have loved it ever since.

  • its awesome when this song comes on in let me in such a beautiful movie and song love em both :D

  • bellaaaaaa, la escuchè en la peli: Let me in

  • GLORY DAZE!!!!!!!

  • Is it just me or does the guy in the middle wearing blue looks like he needs to go use the bathroom really bad? And oh yeah, the smashing of the broomstick is funny as heck cuz he almost slipped and fell, hahhaha. Btw..... Great song !!

  • I love this song, first time I heard it was on the movie Vanilla Sky, its how movies can introduce ya to songs you haven't heard before.

  • The singer is wearing a pearl necklace- a real one.

  • I remember being around 14 when this song came out, and taking home a book from the school library about the Planets in our Solar System. There where illustrations of what the Sun Rise on Venus would look like, and i remember hearing this song in my mind looking at those images.

  • @ludwigvonsteampole1 Your comment is by far the best! What an exellent memory! The 80's were cool.

  • this song was number one in NEW ZEALAND and nowhere else in the world and these guys acknowledged it by coming here to play we recognize good music in all forms great stuff guys

  • @pollystool Yeah we've got taste down here in this part of the world.

  • How do you pronounce the band name? is it pronounced: FREE - ER?

  • Anyone else notice the flash of DOOT at around :33 ?

  • And we go doot!

  • What is that stick instrument on the left??

  • @HiTopProd It looks like a VCA or LFO controller which would change resistance and feed into a synth. This is pretty much pre-digital don't forget.

  • I love this song and im a kid. i hate all this crap music we have today. I <3 80's and 90's!!!!! LONG LIVE THE GOOD MUSIC!! thumbs up if vanilla sky brought you here!

  • Nostalgia!!!!

  • One of the absolute best songs of the 80's (which is saying a lot since the music of the 80's is so great).

Some members of freur formed "underworld" and released another great song - though more techno-esq. The freur style can be felt in "born slippery nuxx" and brings up those strong emotions only a great song can. I suggest you all check out what they've evolved (pun intended) into.

  • From Doot Doot to Underneathe the Radar, Mmm Skyscraper I love you, Pearl's Girl, Ballet Lane, Crocodile, to their most recent work Scribble..... What an evolution... great music!!

  • one of the greatest song ever period.

  • GREAT MOVIE/GREAT TUNE/LONG LIVE THE 80S!

  • I googled "doot" and found this. Awesome.

  • Total fucking classic!!!

  • I looked everywhere for this song. It was not until I saw Vanilla Sky tonight that it was in a scene. The 80's were awesome times. For all of you newbies to this music, check out the soundtrack to the movie Valley Girl. Plimsouls, Pyschadelic Firs, etc. Good times. Old Mill Rocks! Class of "88"

  • @shaylynn1970 Rock on indeed, Class of '88. For me, Bayside.

  • a rare 80's gem..beautiful!

  • BEST SONG EVER

  • @dobel934 does anybody have the lyrics??

  • @m1kewithaone What's in a name? Face on a stage Where are you now? Memory fades, you take a bow

Here in the dark Watching the screen Look at them fall The final scene

And we go doot Doot doot

Look at them fall Flicker and fade Gone are the screams I put them to bed, now they are dreams

And we go doot Doot doot

  • @MidnightinSavannah oh thanks for that! :)

  • we all resort back to the music we grew up on.

  • The very quintessence of everything that made 80's music great - captured in one song.

  • @Berus7777 I agree.

  • i thank my best friend's mother for introducing me to the music of the 80s. it's fucking fantastic, and i honestly wish music was still like this. i wish i was a teenager in the 80s, life would've just been so mellow and perfect.

  • @discopolaroids Yep it was fucking brilliant. The music is what defined the 80's and although I don't remember much else about that time which is all my fault, I do remember the incredible songs that came out then, this being top of my list.

  • yea i saw let me in twice and theatres and this song was perfect for the part it was in. had never heard it untill then, but i really dig it now

  • Fuck I love that broomstick smash at 3.18 it just cracks me up everytime I see it!

  • My 2 year old runs through the house to find this song when I put it on. Probably understands what "doot doot" means.

  • I am normally very knowledgeable concerning 80's music but never knew of this song until I heard it in Let Me In...

  • heard this for the first time in Let Me In too ! don't know how this one got past me all these years ! Cool track !

  • Glad to see this song is getting more recognition in North America. I had this song on a Ronny's Pop Show tape back in '83. Wore it out on the walkman. Great song, same guys who did "Born Slippy". They're now known as Underworld.

  • Let Me In brought me here.

  • Still one of my all-time favorite songs. Lost the LP long ago. Digital revival.

  • no reason to analyze the song. it's a classic 80's track, nothing more, nothing less.

  • Very powerful when they used this in the Vanilla Sky movie scene....

  • beautifull inmortal song!!!

  • Beautifull inmortal song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anyone remember a song, I believe was called "Hey Ho Away We Go"? I can't find it anywhere...pretty sure it was Freur...

  • fantastica canzone, una delle mie preferite degli anni 80 .

  • @laraAN72 I guess this song was popular in Italy as well, judging by an italian radio broadcast I heard back in those days. Ciao.

  • I used to request this song long ago to the Steve Show (80s hour) on 99X in Atlanta way back and the s.o.b. would never play it.....damn you Steve.

    This song is awesome

  • @juggernaught79 Surprised this song crossed the Pond and was actually on the radio. You must have been (and still must be) a hardcore music lover.

  • @sastal this song was far from "underground". they used to play it on KROQ in los angeles all the time and although i was into punk and less accessible music i always loved this song. beat the hell out of depeche mode.

  • @zediam I have heard of KROQ. It must have been a pretty special station and a far cry from average U.S. radio. I recall reading that they used to play one of my favorite bands, China Crisis. Still, Europe saw Freur tour at festivals, on television and music-video shows, as well as on all commercial radio with a fair amount of airplay.

  • There's something unaccountable about this track. Sums up a musical era like no other, and it still stands apart, doubly anomalous in the sense that nothing similar ( or similarly interesting) is to be found in the group's further output, and it totally contradicts our current notions of how '80s music should sound and feel.
