Although the arrangement of Mahler's envelope, the original arrangement of Schumann is still romantic, pure and high; Schumann one of the great romantic composers in this symphony demonstrated the wealth of creativity in melody line and masterful union in the whole work.

Marvellous 1st movement with a fluidity unmatched by anyone else, and first rate orchestra and conductor making music like this become such a great pleasure to listen to....Chailly stands with his predecessors there with the likes of Mendelssohn, Nikisch, Furtwangler,Walter, Neumann, Masur et al., helming an orchestra with a fine pedigree and tradition. sd goh (malaysia)

I own THIS SET of complete Schumman's symphonies ( Mahler Edition..) It is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION ! Maestro Riccardo Chailly at his best ( as usual..)Gewandhaus Orchestra...OMG ! such an unmatched quality of performances..HIGHLY recommend to get it ! IT IS a TREASURE ! REAL MASTERPIECE ! thanks for sharing .
