  • Really nice overall tone... The tounging of the sixteenth notes in the beginning was really heavy and dragged. I would try picking up the tempo to a bit in the beginning, even if that means that you have to slur some of those sixteenth note runs.

You could use some more dynamic contrast. Tell a story.

The cadenza was nice, but where was the emotion? Take your time. Feel it. Add some pauses and be expressive and beautiful instead of showy. RUBATO! Work with the emotional side of the piece.

  • Please ignore these hateful comments. I really enjoyed this piece. I've been playing for 8 years and I think that you are doing wonderful! No one will ever be perfect nor will they ever stop learning and growing as a musician! Keep on practicing, keep on playing! Good job bud!

  • Very good you got the notes and rythms right but i think you could have gone a little faster because you are definitly too good to be playing that slow

  • why so slow.. It's mucht tooo slow. I can do it better. Much better.

  • Is this in Newington in Sydney?

  • really good

  • autsch... my ears... son listen to the intonation.,...

  • Nice to see someone this age tackling a major repertoire piece like this. Ignore the haters, keep up the good work!

  • euuhhh maybe instead of just telling the world how good you are you could give him some constructive criticisms, you clarinet experts. If it isn't asking too much...

  • autsch!!!! My ears...... XD

  • sounds nice but very slow pace :((( I play it a lot faster than you

  • why so slow, and its not good.... sorry, i do 10 times better XD

    sorryyyyyyyy

lol well great job mister :D

*secret squeak from 1:40 to 1:49*

  • i have to do this for my solo and i'm only in middle school and we have to do the whole song and i can't its hard lol

  • This is a really good performance of this piece. I wish I had been able able to play it as well for my audition!

  • Great Alex, i try to play it on sax soprano.

Its a bit faster normaly but u are doing it ok !

    Succes !

  • Nice job!

  • ker razred si?

  • bien! un poco mas de estacato. te felicito

  • falta articulación, pero bien

  • FANTASIC!!!

  • he's freaking amazing at that ;_; im jealous

  • Just some advice, try to keep more even time and work on a better range of dynamics, it seems that you've got those two mixed, but nice tone, by 3:30 I can tell you're mouth is tired from your attack

  • boehm system :D

  • Awesome tone quality and articulations! I'm jealous!

  • well done, you're a very good player =)

  • i'm playing this in February for a solo competition

  • whaauw very impressive =D i'm doing this piece too for my c-exam in june next year.. i hope it will be than just as good as you played here!!!

  • im playing this for my clarinet solo this year its really hard but hopefully i can get this good at it. Good Job Dude!

  • i'm jealous. really really jealous.

    ur and epic clarinetist

  • dude, go play Messager or something.

  • Ahhh, i remember this piece, first real piece which required some articulation skill. Kadenza was my favorite part, 3rd mvmt was lame though.

  • holaa ;)

me llamo elena y soy de españa (alicante). Yo estoy tocando la misma pieza. tu la has tocado fantástica!

    congratulations :D

  • i played this in fifth grade...haha listening to it makes me realize i have been a band geek since i started clarinet...

  • sweet man. im sure ur pretty good eh.

  • agh i gotta do this for an audition and i suck at it. im too slow. and my articulations arent precise. great job tho.

  • This is my konzert for next year!! I'm very .... :s

  • Pretty good. When on the technical runs and stuff try to keep your fingers closer to the clarinet and not lift them up so much. you'd be surprised how much faster and more accurate you can play when you get that down.

  • me ha gustado mucho sigue asi ;)

estoy tocando la misma pieza, pero el final lo veo un poco precipitado.

  • wow i wanna play this song for my lessons test piece this summer. its awesome.

  • awesome i did the same solo for contest! i like how you finished it though, it was way too long for solo contest so i only got to the bottom of the third page.

  • It was good, but you really lagged a lot on those tongued 16th note runs.

  • lol lag.

  • I dedicate this and do it better ...

  • really good so far :)

Try to shape the phrase more, give more emotion to the peice. :)

  • good effort, keep it up!

  • wow im doing this solo for solo and ensemble I wish I was as good as you

  • Deficient...

  • If you didn't move so unmusical it could have been better. Try to do more movements wich are in one flow otherwise you would seperate the whole piece just into notes and not pack up them together to ONE Piece of music.

  • really good!!!

  • hahaha...watching it again w/ my friend

  • ...o_0....

I have to play this for eight grade solo/ensemble....

    Solution=I'm gonna die

GAH! You are awesome...kudos to you "Alex" or whoever you are

  • One thing i would be aware of in this piece is the use of the alternate (above the staff) "D" fingering in fast transitions between C & D.

Play C and then add the "G#" key, on most clarinets this comes out in tune.

Also trills should be stylistic, not necessarily held out for full length of trill, as we do in concert band. Start on the main note and then trill maybe two or three times to the next highest note diatonically.

Also try to keep your fingers closer to the clarinet.

    Good Job :)

  • I have to play this tomorrow in school, but i'm not so good like you... =(

  • Hey,I've been playing the clarinet for 6 years too. You're sounding really good:D

    And you're pretty cute too:D

  • niceee. im playing this too for my solo contest. its sounds really good.

  • I noted that at the beginning of the Cadenza you played that slow, if you could do the other things why not that. PS Im playing it too

  • a stylistic thing,

probably would have been overbearing if he had just gone straight into the 64th notes. :)

    i liked it.

  • There is no "right" way to play a cadenza.

It is mostly up to the performers choice. They slow up at parts, and slow down at parts. But, since you are criticizing that on someone else, you must know, right?

  • You are right but what my teacher told me is that that they arn't part of the cadenza

    their just cues.

  • agreed. the tempo is the preformers choice.

  • In my opinion you did a really nice job...always practice...always!!!

  • Wow, 6 years and you play Stamitz? That's quite slow. I made Gr.8 after playing for 3 years and played the Stamitz better than you.

  • haha... shut up!

  • Hey..Humbert..I'd like to see you playing. Let me watch you playing Stamitz. Great job Demolition and take the good advice of Klarinetta.

  • Where is your video of you playing Stamitz.

  • I'm playing this in December, so thanks for the inspiration. As you can probably tell by my name, I love the clarinet, and you played this really well. I'm 8th grade, and this is the hardest solo I've played to date. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Good job, how long u bn playing??

  • I have one good tip for you that many young clarinet student do wrong. Before you start a note you should have the mouthpiece up in your mouth and the tounge on the reed and preferrably you should also breath 1 or 2 seconds before you start the note. This way you will start compleatly in time and accuratly. Keep up the good work.
