I still maintain that if Nascar wants to solve its problem of fans leaving, they should bring back the Aero Warriors. Wouldn't it be bad-ass to see someone in a Charger Daytona laying down a 199 average at Talladega and wiping out the entire field? I once got to watch an old tape of a Nascar race from 1970, and it was EXTREMELY entertaining. It was nothing like the modern races where the cars are all the same and look so in-control. Even the pit-stops were hilarious to behold.

Love most of your shows on here but! Avid Nascar fan here they do weigh 3400lbs, and your at Las Vegas which is 1.5 mile track and those cars hit 185-190Mph there on raceday..they race mostly on sundays and sometimes on saturday nites and the cars without a restrictior plate used at daytona and talladega make anywhere from 800-850HP when the plate is added depending on the rules are cut back to about 450hp don't know if you have but please go watch a live race..nothing like it in this world!

there actually is a passenger window that is put on right before the race but the driver side is a "window net" that is to get to the driver incase of emergency

these cars do not have doors. therefore, having a window on the driver's side would mean the driver would have a VERY hard time getting out of a wreck in a hurry.

oh and one more thing, F1 and Indy cars don't have windows and they can reach upto 220mph. many LMS/ALMS LMPs don't have windows either, and they can reach close to the same speeds.

also, back in the early 70s, with a window net, the Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird reached speeds upto 220mph.

That's so not fair. WRC and NASCAR have their own completely different skill sets with completely different automotive and racing configurations.

You know it's not easy to pass the next guy in a straight line if the both of you are going the same speed. Same thing in NASCAR but they do it in high-speed ovals and in car packs of 40+ drivers.

F1 and Nascar as spectator sports are just too samey. I think if you are there at nascar then it's better than on tv as you can see the whole race, feel the power of those cars and feel the atmosphere. But on tv it just looks like a bunch of toy cars pootling around the track.

if nothing else, f1 is as boring to watch as nascar. at least in nascar ther are some passes, andat least 1 good crash per race. f1 is just a parade of really fast cars doing the same thing over and over, as is nascar, but there is more hardcore driving in nascar. not to mention, most people dont realise that nascar is faster. they hold it at 200mph the entire race, most f1 races top out near 180, with a good straight

I think you should sit in a F1 car and realize how easy Nascar is, i got the chance to be in a F1 car a few years back, 1,500 ft lb of torque was insane, and the fact that F1 racers have to maintain heat in the tires and breaks just makes it much more difficult, not to mention reaction time is insane F1.

NASCAR goes 200+mph for 4 hours straight.

by the way, NASCAR as a whole races on 3 road courses during the NASCAR season.

you know nothing about nascar dude..they race at Indy once a year and they don't hit 220 there..they hit anywhere from 202-205 and actually the fastest track or tracks they race on is Texas, Atlanta, California and Michigan where they hit speeds of 209-211mph and actually the Sprint Cup races at 2 road coarse the other in Montrel is from the Nationwide series not the Cup Series and an average backstretch or frontstrect speed at a 1.5/2 mile track is 190-195

2. i said NASCAR "AS A WHOLE". "as a whole" means ALL of NASCAR including Sprint and Nationwide. infact, now they'll be racing as a whole on 4 road courses this coming season with Road America being added to the Truck Series and Nationwide schedules.

I've always said it if I had a chance to drive in Nascar I would and its still racing even building it or working in the pit crew, however I do think as a spectators sport its kinda boring.

You gotta respect the driver because if you could drive like them you'd probably have a job driving a race car and not doing whatever else.

I guess most people wouldn't mind Nascar so much if rally racing and GT racing would get more sponsorship and coverage like Nascar does.

Been to Daytone 10 years ago (14 back then). Cant discribe how impressive it all was. Only bad thing was that my brother could thedriving experiance, i didnt becourse i was to young *&^%%^&*.

We're spoiled for choices here in Las Vegas, ain't we, Matt? There's Spring Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump. There's the LVMS with it's super speedway, road course, 1/4-mile dragstrip, and dirt track. And then there's the Bob Bondurant Driving School about three hours away in Arizona.
