These cars have more hp than 600-700. The ride-along car in the video may be restricted down to that level but the actual cup cars produce 800-900 hp.
I still maintain that if Nascar wants to solve its problem of fans leaving, they should bring back the Aero Warriors. Wouldn't it be bad-ass to see someone in a Charger Daytona laying down a 199 average at Talladega and wiping out the entire field? I once got to watch an old tape of a Nascar race from 1970, and it was EXTREMELY entertaining. It was nothing like the modern races where the cars are all the same and look so in-control. Even the pit-stops were hilarious to behold.
I wasnt a huge fan of NASCAR either, and i always wondered why they got paid so much to do what i did with hot wheels cars when i was 3, until I rode in one. It is the most exilerating experience
Usually the episodes r great n informative but u half assed this 1.... Cmon..., i understand that u had 2 do a show sooner or later of black magic n thats ok cuz they let us watch this 4 free... But this episode was nothing like the rest it was jst boring n uncapeable of enjoying not because its nascar n im not a big fan but jst because you really half assed it..... Maybe next show will b better
Correction..the cars used at Daytona and Dega are 450hp the non restricted engines make anywhere from 800-850hp..sorry for the typo..glad you have a new found respect for it though..been through the Richard Petty Driving School but at the Charlotte motor speedway 3 times..lol..i love it!!!!!! Go Jimmie 48!!!! drive for 5!!
Love most of your shows on here but! Avid Nascar fan here they do weigh 3400lbs, and your at Las Vegas which is 1.5 mile track and those cars hit 185-190Mph there on raceday..they race mostly on sundays and sometimes on saturday nites and the cars without a restrictior plate used at daytona and talladega make anywhere from 800-850HP when the plate is added depending on the rules are cut back to about 450hp don't know if you have but please go watch a live race..nothing like it in this world!
"making between 6 and 700 horse power depending on the restrictor plate." That clearly isnt right. Everything ive heard points to about 750+ hp and about 400 with the plate.
there actually is a passenger window that is put on right before the race but the driver side is a "window net" that is to get to the driver incase of emergency
these cars do not have doors. therefore, having a window on the driver's side would mean the driver would have a VERY hard time getting out of a wreck in a hurry.
oh and one more thing, F1 and Indy cars don't have windows and they can reach upto 220mph. many LMS/ALMS LMPs don't have windows either, and they can reach close to the same speeds.
also, back in the early 70s, with a window net, the Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird reached speeds upto 220mph.
you guys keep making these assumptions, but NONE of you have ever been around a 2.5 mile oval at over 200mph with 42 other drivers around you doing the same speed.
That's so not fair. WRC and NASCAR have their own completely different skill sets with completely different automotive and racing configurations.
You know it's not easy to pass the next guy in a straight line if the both of you are going the same speed. Same thing in NASCAR but they do it in high-speed ovals and in car packs of 40+ drivers.
Btw the last one with the girl, why aren't you 2 dating or something lol. You're not married are you? She knows her guns, and maybe her cars too, seems like a good catch.
OK, so you now you have respect for the drivers. But, do you respect NASCAR as a entertaining race league? Seriously I think you were overcome by the adrenalin of it all?
Would you now sit there season-after-season and watch the cars going around in circles with old technology Matt?
no, not at all, but i maintain my POV that to be a driver in that league requires not only real skills behind the wheel but a gigantic set of balls I don't even come close to having.
F1 and Nascar as spectator sports are just too samey. I think if you are there at nascar then it's better than on tv as you can see the whole race, feel the power of those cars and feel the atmosphere. But on tv it just looks like a bunch of toy cars pootling around the track.
But that's tv, everything allways looks dulled down.
For me it's still rallying, rallycross or touring cars
I agree. The presentations on TV, such as real-time telemetry for each car and in-car views, are a good start in involving the TV audience but, as you said, there's no sense of urgency or gravity as you would if you saw it in-person.
if nothing else, f1 is as boring to watch as nascar. at least in nascar ther are some passes, andat least 1 good crash per race. f1 is just a parade of really fast cars doing the same thing over and over, as is nascar, but there is more hardcore driving in nascar. not to mention, most people dont realise that nascar is faster. they hold it at 200mph the entire race, most f1 races top out near 180, with a good straight
meh i still dont like nascar.....whats the point of watching it if ur not felling the exitment of it...i can get driving at high speeds in a 40 car pile up but it looks like machbox on tv....thats y rednecks get drunk 2 make it look like sumthing exiting is happening with thier beerholders on thier heads.....just my opinion...also y do u think they still use old skool parts?? it would be freakin awsum to see more out of these cars, there is potential...
it might be your opinion, but its a misinformed and ignorant opinion.
and i'm guessing you've actually went to a race or watched a race with a redneck. i mean that's the only way you could of come up with that conclusion that they drink alot during races.
and why do they use old technology? maybe because it still works? ever heard of the phrase "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."?
also, i'd call 850hp and 9500rpm pretty damn big in the potential department.
during the Black Magic segment, did you guys at all notice that the impact wrench sound in the background sounded a LOT like a chick having an orgasm?
i think u need to do a smoking tire episode about the 24 hours of Lemons. that racing series is far more exciting then nascar could ever hope to be. and also the black magic thing is getting a bit lame how many of us do you think are really going to spend time cleaning the wheels on our cars
I think you should sit in a F1 car and realize how easy Nascar is, i got the chance to be in a F1 car a few years back, 1,500 ft lb of torque was insane, and the fact that F1 racers have to maintain heat in the tires and breaks just makes it much more difficult, not to mention reaction time is insane F1.
Dude if that was true then Scott Speed would of came in and dominated nascar after he switched. The two take immense amount of skill in their specific disciplines.
F1 makes NASCAR look like pussies? have you ever gone 200+mph around a 2.5 mile oval in a 3400lb, 850hp, RWD race car with 42 other drivers around you wanting a win JUST as bad as you do?
@Elmo187 Yea but in F1 they go 220mph on some circuits, have 700+ hp, weigh a lot less, have open wheels, have to deal with left and right hand corners, elevation changes, and other drivers.
but do they constantly go 220mph? are they at those speeds for the full 4 hours of the race? the answer is a VERY big NO. the only place they DID reach 220mph was at Indy, which is where they don't race anymore. the highest they get on a good straight NOW, is at least 180+.
NASCAR goes 200+mph for 4 hours straight.
by the way, NASCAR as a whole races on 3 road courses during the NASCAR season.
you know nothing about nascar dude..they race at Indy once a year and they don't hit 220 there..they hit anywhere from 202-205 and actually the fastest track or tracks they race on is Texas, Atlanta, California and Michigan where they hit speeds of 209-211mph and actually the Sprint Cup races at 2 road coarse the other in Montrel is from the Nationwide series not the Cup Series and an average backstretch or frontstrect speed at a 1.5/2 mile track is 190-195
you should probably learn to read before jumping on my balls.
1. 220mph and not racing at Indy was referring to F1, not NASCAR.
2. i said NASCAR "AS A WHOLE". "as a whole" means ALL of NASCAR including Sprint and Nationwide. infact, now they'll be racing as a whole on 4 road courses this coming season with Road America being added to the Truck Series and Nationwide schedules.
3. did you not notice the "+" behind the 200? i'm just wondering. that usually means more than 200mph.
My bad dude didn't realize you said as a "whole" i apologize for that. Most people don't know it's made up of 3 Major series but many more minor series..my bad dude i was totally in the wrong after reading all your comments again i realized you like nascar..haha..sorry Miller Lite does funny shit to ya when your tryin to read..haha GO 48!!
what's not so real about NASCAR? i mean you can see the drivers and you can see the cars.
show me on the next IndyCar schedule where they get NATIONAL TV coverage for the WHOLE schedule. because that's the difference between IndyCar and NASCAR.
NASCAR has such a large fanbase, that it shadows that of IndyCar so much, that they have to show their races on a channel that barely anybody knows exists.
I've always said it if I had a chance to drive in Nascar I would and its still racing even building it or working in the pit crew, however I do think as a spectators sport its kinda boring.
You gotta respect the driver because if you could drive like them you'd probably have a job driving a race car and not doing whatever else.
I guess most people wouldn't mind Nascar so much if rally racing and GT racing would get more sponsorship and coverage like Nascar does.
Been to Daytone 10 years ago (14 back then). Cant discribe how impressive it all was. Only bad thing was that my brother could thedriving experiance, i didnt becourse i was to young *&^%%^&*.

Doing a show with the #30 Black magic car is enough sponsorship content. You don't have to endorse the product more by doing a segment on it. Go back to the pop up ads please.
And I've always respected NASCAR drivers (even though I don't follow it regularly as I do with the ALMS GT2 Corvettes) because it's a tough, tough strategy to try to pass the next guy who's doing exactly the same speed as everyone else.
@Elmo187 going 200+mph (in a circle) for 4 hours straight is hellishly boring to watch as well. No doubt it's way cool to experience first-hand, but how many times can one watch the same thing happening over and over and over and over and over and over again before it gets boring? NASCAR lasts for about 5-minutes on my TV before I get on the net to find some WRC clips or something...
you're totally missing the point of what i was saying.
seroyer was saying the cars were shitty in NASCAR, yet they are so reliable that they can last 4 hours at a constant speed at or above 200mph at 9,000RPMs.
We're spoiled for choices here in Las Vegas, ain't we, Matt? There's Spring Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump. There's the LVMS with it's super speedway, road course, 1/4-mile dragstrip, and dirt track. And then there's the Bob Bondurant Driving School about three hours away in Arizona.
And you should take Brittany Boddington with you as your co-host. You guys have terrific on-screen chemistry.
And damn, I didn't know the NASCAR Camry's were powered by the Chevy small-block V8s.
a real nascar engine today is 800 to 900 horse power sorry you do not know what you talking about matt and nascar engine is $100,000 to $150,000

And I've always respected NASCAR drivers (even though I don't follow it regularly as I do with the ALMS GT2 Corvettes) because it's a tough, tough strategy to try to pass the next guy who's doing exactly the same speed as everyone else.

@triplexxxsatyr Ya same Nascar Driver are really good. to get a car that shitty to go that fast is not easy.

I will never dog NASCAR because it's an entirely different breed of racing from the exotic looks of the Formula One, IndyCar, and Rolex Series.

@triplexxxsatyr You mean a Busch, and a can of Skoal. hahaha

LOL! Yup...exactly what I mean.

shitty? explain to me how they're shitty when the majority of the field lasts the whole race. going 200+mph for 4 hours straight is hell for a car.

All the cars at the Richard Petty experience have Chevy's despite their livery.

Arrrggghhhxxx...me and my poor proofreading. It's Spring MOUNTAIN Motorsports Ranch which also has the Ron Fellows School.

What camera was used to film in the car?

2 Flips mounted in the car, and a Panasonic HVX200 outside the car.

A Camry?! Too bad your sponsor didn't use a Charger. Well, given the nature of NASCAR, it would by Charger stickers, but meh.

As far as I can tell, Nascar can be boring to watch for most people, but fun as hell to drive it! I'm glad you seemed to enjoy it :)
