  • I just started lessons w/ Rob and the dude does NOT fuck around! "The Four Pillars of Singing" is an absolute MUST! The dude's intense and relaxed @ the same time as an instructor.

I'll say it right now; if I gotta skip meals I'm making it to TVS each week.

  • @RayPluton agreed :)

  • @RayPluton Cool Ray... thanks. Your right, we really get things done around here. I'm doing this to help people get real results, quickly. If you put the time and energy into it, I got the energy to help you get there and we will. Very cool post, thanks! Jump on the The Modern Vocalist Forum and let the guys know there how you feel.

  • ..hey that was pretty damn good !,,, the bass player was a bit lost but the overall performance made up for it... great vocals and the guitarist is really good too

  • @stymye Thanks dude! Do you have a voice coach? Would love to train with you... let me know.

  • This was the first record that I ever bought way back in 1970 and is therefore very close to my heart. I just want to put the "record" straightand say that this song was written by Peter Green and performed by Fleetwood Mac. The original version is in every way far superior to the bland offering by Judas Priest. Check out the original guys and hear the song with all it's nuances.

  • @martiseddi

Cool, ok. Thanks for correcting me on that.

  • Rob, just make a whole album of this kind of thing and you will be have a whole other business. how about a christmas album... just kidding rock on!

  • @steelpanther831

2011, I will be releasing two solo albums... full length, original music... more "tribute" stuff can trickle in... but ya, you will see a lot more "artistry" from me in 2011. Thanks! And I actually have considered doing a xmas album, just for fun and laughs for my family and friends... why not?

  • Robert, I've been singing for a decade with zero training and really want to technically up my skills. Where the heck do I start? I suppose I need to start with breathing techniques.

  • Well, breathing excercises are a good place to start. But honestly, you should hunker down and get serious about training. I would be happy to be your voice coach. You can pick up my extreme singing system, "The Four Pillars of Singing" .

Feel free to send me a private email if you have other questions.

  • Although most people like Halford's singing on the '70s Priest albums more than the '80s, I actually find the gritty pharyngeal stuff of the latter decade harder to replicate

Cool screams btw Rob...Melt 'em bro \m/

  • me too!=] i like his singing for songs like night crawler and between the hammer and the anvil

  • wrong decade bud. that's 90's.

and why does EVERYONE reference Painkiller??

Defenders of the Faith was a WAY better album imo

  • Dude, your so wrong... "green menalishi" was NOT recorded in the 90s... LOL!!! Its from the late 70s when Judas Priest first started... and in my opinion their best albums are "Sad Wings of Destiny", "Stained Glass" & "Screaming For Vengence"... probably all recorded before you were out of diapers...

  • BRAVO! post more priest post more priest!!!

  • Ok. I would like to perform, "Dreamer Deciever" or "Beyond The Realms of Death" from the earlier years...

  • those early ones by priest are so high.

  • Well ya, but whats more noticeable is the dynamics and the clarity in Halford's voice in the earlier years. Everyone, try to get a copy of "Sad Wings of Destiny" and "Exciter"... two hard to find, early JP albums with ground breaking vocals.

  • "Exciter" is not a Judas Priest album. "Stained Class" maybe, with the song "Exciter"?

  • Yes, I think that is correct. I meant "Stained Class".

  • Halford was a Major influence on me...

  • What do you all think of my screaming and singing? I want some feed back. Be honest, its ok.

  • I'm amazed that the guitar player is getting those tones from an AC50 head.

  • Great job friend. But Rob doesnt take the traditional zeppelin stance, In other words, DO not use the early 70's Im a rock star stance. Use something you come up with. Something original! your voice is pretty good.. The high notes were right the fuk on!!!!!!! Peace!

  • Huh?... ok, noted... will make sure Im not doing the traditional 70s Im a rock star stance next time... thanks for the insightful advise.

  • Rob , that's simply as good as it gets .

  • Dude, that was INSANE !!!!

    Great job!!

  • Hay bro, Fuck the guys who just want to insult. I just saw your " take holf of the flame" and D00D i've been working on and training myself ot learn that song 100% it's not easy at all. Props to you. I respect ya bro... forget about the ass wipes who are here just to try and downgrade someone. Keep it up brother. It can bring you great things. and you're DAMN GOOD!!! Rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Sorry I saw THE Take hold of the flame. Either way seems your Vocal Studio seems to kick out some serious rock/metal vocalist.

  • This Judas Priest is me... Take Hold of the Flame was performed by one of our "screaming pillars" and top level vocalist, Randy Loran. Randy does the demonstrations of the technique with me in our training system, "The Four Pillars of Screaming!"... go to the web site and check it out.

  • That was pretty awesome Rob, I'm a drummer in a band that does occasional backing vocals, though I love singing lead. I'd say my biggest influence is Chris Cornell; I can hit the majority of his high notes, but i cannot do it with as much power...do you need to be born with that kind of power, or can you build it up...somehow? hha, if you havent noticed, i'm a little uneducated in terms of singing technique.

  • You dont have to be born with it! Its just training. Most people can learn to sing with great power... you just have to train and practice.

  • well thats good to know...now i just need to figure out how and i'll be on my way hah

  • Really imressive... I watched some live stuff with Priest doing this tune, and I tell you Halford himself is't able to reach those heights the way Robert does.

  • Thanks for the heavy compliment... Rob Halford was a major influence on me.

  • Gimme a frickin' break.

  • I never ceases to amaze me, the people that get on the site just to insult. In this case, when you go to "madaxeman3" you find that Randy Cole has uploaded several videos of "hot japanese Lesbians kissing" and racist videos of some guy screaming "Your A Nigger" to an offended audience. Then when you go to Randy's myspace site, you find that they guy cant play or sing for shit... Randy, your a loser.

  • Hey RJL,

Used to play this as a kid - the guitar parts... gota learn the Halford stuff. ;-)

    SM

  • Bring it on brother... lets sing some face melting goblets of C4 thunder.

    r

  • normally, on what note or notes does the voice go from chest to head voice......my high screams are there (on the B5 and C6, but I find that when I slide down or slide up, the transition seems nasty....any helpful tips?

    P.S.

my head voice sucks.....just felt like i had to get that off my chest!!!!

  • We teach that the highest notes, although they sound the most impressive, they actually are not the most difficult to train... its the lower head voice region, or what we call "lower register IIIs"... here you really should learn some pharyngeal techniques. Check out the training system we have "the four pillars of screaming!"... it will help you a lot.

    Robert

  • I'll give it a look!!! Thanks Robert!!!!

  • Awsome! Those high pitched screams! Thats just what I want! You got an incredible voice! I'm really jealous.. XD

  • It's kevin there. ROBERT! U R THE MAN!!!!
