My dad was a trucker for over 30ys. This song brings back alot of wonderful memories going on the road with him. In 2002 cancer took him off the road and eventually took his life in 2005.. I miss him everyday. for those who have never experienced a cross country ride in a truck or heard the sound of the (jake brake) you need to try it. It's the best
this song reminds me of my mom and step dad he was forced off the road because of heart probs and such and she never got tired of this song she had it on tape 4 the longest time. also thanks to you drivers out there from the pa timber rattler and his kin. stay safe and i ll catch ya on the radio sometime
I criss cross the country on my motorcycles, seeing new places and meeting people. I find a peacefulness on the road, I can't get anywhere else. I have a healthy respect for truckers and what they do. Most of them don't do the dumb stuff that can get us both killed. The soccer mom in the SUV is another story though. Like get off the PHONE aleady!
why do women need a f***ing huge 4x4 to get shopping and take the kids to school? Most of them can't handle them and always seem to be on the phone. And think it's ok to park in loading bays if they're only going to be 10 minutes. And when I turn up in the truck to deliver, I'm in their way!
Love this song. My Dad was named Charlie, and he bought a motorhome and got to take one vacation his whole life in it. That was about ten years before he died. He never did retire.
The video would've been better with a Peterbilt, though. :)
I love this song. My husband was killed in 1985 driving a semi. It was our dream to have a winnebago and set out to see america. But the dream died. Love to all you drivers out there. Be safe and be home.
Hello showmesue.... I'm just some anonymous guy posting on you tube, but I just wanted to say, in my own awkward way, that I hope you've been able to find happiness and joy in your life with the help and love of friends and family since that sad day for you so many years ago. Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving, nmcityrocker
I love this song, reminds me of my dad.He drove truck for 38yrs. retired in Aug.1989.We played this song at his retirement party. They found cancer in my mother Jan.1990.They only had a short time to do the things they wanted. My father passed away April 2005.Miss them both.
this reminds me of my uncle he has drove a truck for the longest but he not long ago passed i got my dream it was to ride with him one trip before he died he passed Jan 4 of this year form cancer im glad this song is out i miss him soo much
my grandfather was a truckdriver and he past away 12 yrs ago and this song makes me think of his wonderful life...I look forward to the day i see him again..I love you pap
I would like to say Bless all you truckers out there and thank you for hauling our goods. You don't get a lot of praise and I think you should. I wish each and one of you a peacful blessing and I pray for you to make it home safe. God bless all of you!
i am 27 years old and i am fighting demons i have been off the road for six months with a back injury and as much as i hate being gone from my wife and daughter i miss the road so bad it is as good as home for me i have called it home for 6 and a half years now and it is amazing coming east out of wyoming and watch the sun come up over the horizen after being submersed and darkness all night. Damn i got tears in my eye god speed to all truckers may you make it home to your families
i came back from the doctor on my back injury and he says i may never get to work again and that is a knife to my heart so if i don't get to drive again you drivers keep that shiny side up and roll on 18 wheeler 10-4
I feel your pain my friend. It's really hard to love one thing ( your family ) just as much as the ( the road ) other. I have been off the road for the past 5 years by choice.....and i miss it every dam day!!
Hello from Sturgis South Dakota! I don't blame you for missing our sun rises. God Bless you and your wife for all your detication. My husband used to fight fires in NV for 7-9 months a year when our daughters were 1&3. He did 3 seasons. I know the heartache your wife feels when you're gone. My husband has worked locally now for almost 4 years so I feel lucky. I hope you make a full recovery and say a little prayer to keep you safe on your travels!
I have the best respect for truck drivers. Each day you spend Hours on end making sure that the things needed to keep the cosumers happy gets there. I am saying this because all truck drivers deserve better then the low rates that they are getting right now. some day that will happen when people see that when it comes down to without the truck driver there would be no homes or things to buy so i thank you for bringing what i need each day
I wish I had a chance to redo the Video with Kathy. The one thats out there is great, but I could think of some older background photos/scenes coming up through the years before he retires. I was brought with 2 sticks, no Jake, no power steering, and bias ply tires. Still get behind the wheel every chance I get.
Thank you for the upload. I had seen a small portion of this video on a YouTube video of a TV commercial for WGAR 99.5 FM (in Cleveland, Ohio) and knew that I had not recognized the song. I just watched this and I think it's very nice.
I don't miss trucking for the most part.Every so often however,hearing songs like this,comes a flashback.A certain 379 Pete(LH),late at night,hammer down,somewhere west of Cheyenne. Am I waxing nostalgic?..Yup! xD
this song makes me cry every time i hear it. my dad was a trucker his entire life. and he did spend the rest of his life with the one that he loves. he passed away 5 yrs ago on jan 25. love the song and love dad. hope he's at peace.
no 4 day run means it takes 4 days to get there, then you get your next load on the qualcom, and you can be out for 3 weeks then reset hopefully near home.
this is my favorite video beacause im one of the many truck drivers out there on the road and soon to be married and this is mine and my girls song i bought her the video so she can listen to it and watch so she thinks about me when im gone but it feels like im right there. its the best song and video for truckers.
This song came out right after i started trucking. watch David Lynn Jones-Bonnie Jean and Dan Seals-big wheels in the moonlight. these are great trucking videos also.
