I could listen to Johnny Marr talking about guitars and sound for ever....The Jaguar is nice ( they've just brought out a signature Johnny Marr one) but for me the ultimate is when he's got the Ric 330 jetglo in his hands!! ( I know he wouldn't thank me for limiting him to that but that's my preference )

@420megadeth Simple? I d'know. He chooses unusual voicings and has great articulation at a sustained momentum. Go practice "Girl Afraid" (or even this song) for a while and you'll see that speed is a relative thing. I can pull of sweeps and fast alternate picked runs quite well, but Marr's abilities have always vexed me. I can play melodic lines or big chords on my own whereas he can play an entire song on my own. I wish I could play in that style and just fill the room with one clean guitar.

I mean, look at Johnny's later work...some really good riffs here and there...but with the Smiths, every song had a killer guitar line. I dunno...

@moomoo1337 egghhh...the typical, lazy comment about Morrissey. Some one who is truly miserable could never write any of the words that he did...and most importantly...Johnny didn't think he was miserable...and that's all that matters...not the opinions of people who don't know the first thing about him. Morrissey and Marr bought the best out of each other...neither would be where they are now without the other.

@moomoo1337 I think the difference is you can't have an opinion on someone's personal traits: you can't comment on how miserable Morrissey (truly) is (you can of course comment on his public persona), because you don't know him. And no, you can't comment on Hitler: you can't comment on whether he was happy, or depressed, or had a great sense of humour. You can of course comment on his public nature - he was very charismatic and fiery - and his public actions - he was bigoted and murderous.

@moomoo1337 No, no, no. what I was saying was that people shouldn't comment on someone's personality or any aspect of their personal lives as you don't KNOW. Their music, fine. But more to the point, I was making a valid point that without either one of them...the Smiths would never have happened and therefore, this video wouldn't even exist because Johnny's work may never have been heard. Simple.

Anyway, we all love Johnny's work; let's just leave it at that.
