  • Thanks. I discovered her Mammas modern jazz coffee Shop in Tokyo Japan in 1956. Still number one with me.

  • thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you,

  • stroonzaman

Chris, you were and still are my favorite. RIP. Love Ya.

  • Wow I love this and jeez Ive never heard of her!

    Thanks for posting.

  • Beautiful

  • RIP Chris, we will miss you.

  • What a loss! I loved her.

  • Happy memories of hearing vintage Chris Connor on a Utah radio station "Big Band 93, " in 1980, when I first discovered her. I love her, sing on.

  • I wonder, did she ever appear on television in the 50s or 60s? Would love to see footage of her from that era. Her voice is still amazingly strong and flexible. I never understood why she was the primary target for Betty Carter's dismissal of white women jazz vocalists.

  • Yeah I never understood Betty Carter's dismissal of Chris, but even more incredible is Betty's dismissal of Anita O'Day, which is downright ridiculous.

  • Chris is in good health and would come out again if the situation and performing conditions suited her. I wish sombody, somewhere, would get something going to return this icon to the stage where she belongs, even if but just for one more memorable New York City club date.

  • My goodness! Is Chris Connor still with us? Is she still performing? I would love to see her show!

  • She's still around. I spoke to her a few months back. Retired now. Too bad. I'll bet that she could still put the new breed of "jazz" singers to shame! Last Summer Ran Blake of The New England Conservatory, taught a course on the music of Chris Connor.

    Bob

  • If you speak to her again tell her the West Coast would love to see her perform at the Jazz Bakery in Southern California!

I adore her version of "Poor Little Rich Girl", it's superb!

  • I saw her at Yoshi's in Oakland in around 1988, compare her version of Blame it on My Youth from the 50's on Bethlehem with the version she did on LP from about 86 -- amazing to hear both

  • I wish I could see her. She's the last of the great jazz singers.

  • Anybody out there in Chris Connorland know when she was at Gene Norman's Cresendo on the Sunset Strip?

  • I love Chris Connor too. I got to see her in concert a little over 20 years ago. She was magnifique. One of her best songs is "You're gonna hear from me." I could listen to that over and over all day long.

  • Love this woman. Made June Christy sound like an amateur!

  • Wheere are the rest of her songs? This is the only one I could get or find...Someone help. Thank you

  • I have everything Chris has ever recorded, including some remarkable Japanese releases hardly anyone knows about in the U.S. and the splendid Atlantic singles collection "Misty" and it's amazing how she has remained true to her vision more than half a century. Most of her work is available on C.D. and whenever it was recorded it all sounds new! She has never met a song she couldn't sing as if it had never been sung before.

  • Ms. Connor is my idol!! Hear that COOL GROOVE of her voice! Simply THE BEST!!

  • definetly one of the best!

  • Very cool -- thanks, Bob! Besides you and Chris, who are the other musicians?

  • I don't know the names. They were part of the Quinn. band.

  • This was great. I've been a fan of her since I was in the Navy(1955) I haven't seen her since 1970.Thanks
