Loved the scene in the original movie where the Seaview bursts from the sea at the north pole. Kind of like the reveal of the Enterprise in spacedock in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. And frankly, the plot was more Star Trek than the rest of the series' plots. And Walter Pidgeon made a great Admiral Nelson - more a scientist than a commander.
And Barbara Eden was really cute. :-) But the series never lived up to the movie's potential, IMNSHO.
I are there, alright, in four of the most outrageos TV series ever made, series that all started with a spinoff from this film! Great fun, I have to say, I'm addicted to The Time Tunnel at this moment! :)
A 1961 film that became the basis for the 1964-'68 TV series [in which producer Irwin Allen extensively reused footage from the feature, as was his custom]. To this day, Barbara Eden is still embarrassed about the scene where they focused on her "caboose" [2:27].
@rolko52 Not a damned THING! I always fantasized about standing next to her when the ship made one of those sudden rolls and everybody had to "grab hold" of something! **sssssssiiiiiigggggghhhhhhhh******

@dan1701a Imagine what Star Trek and Voyage would have been like if Roddenberry and Allen would have worked together.

Love Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea one of my favorite shows of all time. The first season was the best I felt.

Great motion picture. Could watch it a hundred times. Too bad the TV show never lived up to the movie.
