Not even considering guitars are made better and with higher quality than the 50's and 60's could even dream on. I hate the vintage fad and suckers who fall for it.

Well wither he wrote great songs is subjective, I personnel never liked U2 nor what they stood for. I think having a great manager "Paul McGuinness" and an aggressive marketing campaign has helped. As for many people (The masses) they can be feed and entertained with easy... Coke-a-cola comes to mind, we all know it's bad for us but we still put it through our system. I am a session Guitar player and can shred. It takes years to learn an instrument, something you seem to have missed...

@seanbl1 Well, he 'made his millions' by writing a hell of a lot of great songs. There are probably ten thousand people out there who can shred a guitar fairly well, but if you can't write great songs, it's just wanking. No one cares if you can play a hundred notes a second, other than a small group of fellow wankers. But if you can write great songs, that's what it's all about. He only made millions because many people of people liked the songs.

quite so..to me, this type of saturation of guitars/effects is over-kill; even if I could afford it, i would not have this level of indulgence, but it is horses, for courses,one man's cake is another man's Grand Bouffe'
