  • Have you timed what your BPM is when you play like that? I can do the same thing and its really fun, and I even do the same technique you describe in the comments above. BPM at 168 with my one handed roll doing 16th notes (336BPM 8th notes). I'm curious, how fast can you play yours? Great job by the way and sounds great!

  • sweet! check out my vid response thingy ma bob

  • if u could do that with your left you would have the most insane singles ever

  • that would be flying fingures my friends:)

  • now do it equally as fast with your left! ;-)

  • NICE!!!!

I actually didn't think that one was able to produce the one-handed roll WITHOUT the Moeller technique or the push-pull.

    Very nice.

    d8-)

  • @EBGcristiano its just fingers. moeller technique cant be used to go for fast one handed roll. push pull, flying fingers can

  • Very excellent finger control man, better than I've seen from anyone else in a long time.

  • now with the other hand !!!

  • woah i was not expecting it to be that fast

  • That's not really a one handed roll. Its usually refered to as the "flying fingers" technique. VERY common in metal. You have the technique down really well.

  • If you like doing this you should see Matt Smith do one handed singles on a high hat during a solo. Nice job.

  • nice fucking technique

  • Yeah Davin!!

  • Fucking crazy.

  • Thanks!

  • No problem, that's some serious talent man.

How did you accomplish this? Using four fingers?

  • Relying heavily on a strong first hit and then the rebound. I am using mainly the first three fingers (as can be seen by my protruding pinky at times). I do have trouble staying relaxed when "rolling" though.

  • That's all finger control?

That's pretty crazy, how long have you been playing?

  • Been a percussionist for 10 years. Music Ed. student.

  • @sonorpaiste702 watch the blue devils 2003 opener, alot of one handed rolls is the snare intros.

  • @FalamsProductions Trad grip style or the gravity roll way of doing it?

  • @sonorpaiste702 they did it matched, but very open single rolls, not crushed and rushed like most.

  • @davinsmith1 How's your left hand :O?

  • freak of nature.

  • Well aren't you something :P
