I'd just like the point out that Robert Smith has said on numerous occasions that this is his favorite cover of the song, and that Dinosaur Jr has in fact influenced how The Cure performs the song live. Don't know much about AFI, hadn't ever heard of them before, but I wasn't a big fan of their cover. I wasn't offended by it or anything, but I didn't dig it. Then again, I like this version way more than the original, which the AFI version was a near copy of.

I'd just like the point out that Robert Smith has said on numerous occasions that this is his favorite cover of the song, and that Dinosaur Jr has in fact influenced how The Cure performs the song live. Don't know much about AFI, hadn't ever heard of them before, but I wasn't a big fan of their cover. I wasn't offended by it or anything, but I didn't dig it. Then again, I like this version way more than the original, which the AFI version was a near copy of.

well now having watched the AFI version I can confirm this is far better but then this Dinosaur Jr and the're awesome. A great cover should not mimic the original which the AFI one does, it should take the song and be made into that bands own. A great example would J. Cash and hurt a by far and away better version of the NIN classic. Oh and for those of you who think J mascis is original try listening to Neil Young....he did it 30 years ago.

This is a good cover? Seriously this is the worst cover of Just Like Heaven I have ever heard, Dinosaur Jr, BUTCHERED it and threw it way out of proportion. I would rather have someone stab me in the ears with knives then listen to this god awful atrocity.

They made it ok for an alternative rock band to shred and use over the top effects. They took the mold, said fuck this shit, smashed it then set it on fire. Id would be willing to bet AFI lists Dinosaur Jr. as an influence.
