  • Sounds to me like the answer to every question is the same answer.

Because the world we live in needs a certain refining done to it that requires the people to take responsibility, change their perspectives and make the change happen.

The only responsibilities they see are the one's that society (No matter how corrupt the society) has dictated. The only tasks they feel needs done are the tasks that support what they desire the most. And the only laws they allow themselves to accept are........

  • @Vottaro the ones that that society has dictated.

  • Pac brought me here

  • 3 people suck cock

  • We was young, very dump but we had heart

  • I love the way he sings see...☮

  • this is real music

they killed 2pac, eazy e and biggie and other singers

they want all of us make no feelings about music while music change our lives

they are making fake music and some bitches in the nowadays music

they don't want us to think, they want us like animal with poor minds

  • Great song

  • I love this song myself! I heard it for the first time myself in the Tupac song also. Then I heard it on a cd my Momma was listenin 2 after her husband passed. I hear it in a whole new light now. I love it more now then i did when i heard it in Tupac's song. This song certainly speak volumes! I love it!

  • @iamthequeen93 So.. some bloody talentless phony POS ripped this off and THAT"S why"U" one-celled organisms are here ?!!!!!!!

    2 Too to two BAD

  • @signeseeker17 2pac and Big were legends. I don't believe "talentless phony POS" describes them at all. Also, it wasn't ripped off, it was sampled. Thus, rights had to be purchased OR the current owner of the song had to give permission for it to be used. Think before you type, you ignorant asshole. People like you are why society is fucking handicapped.

  • @signeseeker17 must be some racist asshole instead of a true music lover, just like an over religious asshole who thinks there bible is the only truth, you forget the world is much bigger than you. there's other people who get exposed to different music and a different way of life... here's an ideal... go kill yourself.

  • @signeseeker17 God forbid someone with different musical tastes than your own finds out about a song a different way than you. It's not like he said this version sucked he said he heard it another song and thought it was great. Just shut up you ignorant asshole.

  • still I'm having memories of high speeds, when the cops crashed.

As I laugh pushing the gas when my glocks blast.

  • This is powerful music.

  • TRUTH.. Song couldn't be more REAL than this....

  • Why can't we have lyrics like this nowadays?

  • IT'S ON ME

  • MrMiamiswaggz305-Very nicely put.Ya know, this song is more about personal struggles, rather than political ones, tho it CAN apply. About how hard it can be to just keep your head above water, how people are cruel to you on a daily basis, and how they will use you and throw you away when they are finished. It's saying, dont give up,keep trying.(I hope no one flames me for my post.Just my understanding of the song.)

  • This song has always made my heart break.I couldnt bear to hear anyone else do it. Makes my cry at times,it's so beautiful. And true.

  • @ChimeraAZ

wish the song was not relevant but as long as people oppresses, starve because of greedy rich people who rather not share, and war exist this song is VERY REAL

  • This is my all time favourite tune. When I am down and don't much like life, I listen to this song and I just feel a contented sadness at the end, with the weight of the world off my shoulders.

  • Sounds more beautiful each time I listen to it.

  • I like this one better than the rap version! The rap version doesn't make me feel as good.

  • My bulgarian friend showed me this, which is soooo good!!!

  • Edgar Winter brought me here.

  • This is originally from Edgar's "Entrance" album circa 1970 or so. As opposed to his later work, most of the music was pure jazz. Beautiful album.

  • @squitzy Isn't it from "Edgar Winter's White Trash"?

  • @callycap3 Sorry! You are absolutely correct! I had both albums way back then and confused song placement on them. Beautiful song.

  • Excellent!

  • Still I'm having....Memories of high speeds when the cops crashed

  • Such a good effing song. Brings tears to my eyes.

  • super, just makes you think twice about everything, thanks 2pac for bringin me here!!

  • I was playing drums and then guitar for Edgar and Johnny when he was in the 7th grade and Johnny and I were in the 9th grade at Bowie Jr,Hi in Beaumont TX.

  • @hamhockdoc sure

  • The original and best. I've always loved the Winter Brothers.

  • man this is a deep song

  • What a gorgeous, tearjerker of a ballad! Just beautiful!

  • This song gets me every time...I am glad I was going through old tapes with my dad and he played this for me...

  • @MRJP309 pussy

  • @silver19944 Hahahaha... Fight Me Bitch.

  • @MRJP309 internet gangster

  • @silver19944 Lmao.... That's what you're old lady said when i was fucking her in the tonsils.

  • why do you think he says "you know i wonder if they'll laugh when i am dead"?, i mean that's the deepest line in this whole song. it really makes the mind think seriously.

  • @MightyJungleBoy Listen to the lyrics.... 'Now they say that there is humor in misfortune, You know I wonder if they'll laugh when I am dead' it is deep and feeling that way is compeltley natural lol this man is amazing

  • The only reason the tupac song was good was because it sampled Edgar's lyrics and chord progressions.

  • @kamikrazi123

    No. lol

    just no

  • @31MillerTime31 Yes it is you tard, it's the overtones and cadences and phonetics and whatnot that make popular songs "catchy" if most of music listeners actually tried to understand music. The song would not even be at the same level of popularity without this song and its chorus as the backbone. Rappers need to stop relying on samples of actual musicians to make their songs catchy (BURRRN BABY!)

  • @31MillerTime31 Compare the poetry in Winter's lyrics versus that of Tupac's. I'm sorry to break it to you but most rappers just aren't as eloquent or poetic with their lyricism.

  • @kamikrazi123

Yeah,"Most" rappers. Tupac isn't labled under that catagory. To be honest, "most" people probably never even heard this song until it was sampled on "Runnin'."

  • Comment removed

  • @kamikrazi123

    @kamikrazi123

are you several kinds of stupid? rapping has not eloquence? no alteration? no metaphors? no imagery? name any poetic device and i can name a a rap song. and i i'm honestly like independent rock more than rap. you need to get out more and learn to take into account what these pieces of music are trying to get across and not the stereotype that comes with the genre

  • @kamikrazi123

once again, your logic is entirely flawed

  • ......Good bye Macho man

  • a great song!

  • I used to own Edgar WInter's White Trash Album and I have been watching for it's reissue since I wore the grooves completely out. It's wonderful to hear EW get all soulful again on one of his straight up Gospel arrangements. His Ray Charles piano styling is very apparent on this selection. He comes close again on brother Johnny's self titled debut album from 1969 (Johnny WInter), when playing piano on Ray Charles classic "I'll Drown In My Own Tears". Maybe sometimes white singers can sound black

  • @flapjackhank The White Thrash CD is available. I got a copy a few yrs back.

I've been a Johnny Winter fan since 1967. Saw Edgar a few times live in 1972.

J.W was mistaken for a black artist in the very early 60s when he went until the title "Texas Guitar Slim":

Both brothers were influenced by black artists in their area as kids.

Johnny was taught abit by the amazing blues men Clarence Holliman & Clarence Garlow, Lonnie Brooks, Albert Collins.

  • When i first heard this song in 1971 i almost knelt in prayer.

A POWERFULLY stunning song with lyrics that continue to inspire me to this day.

In my opinion, the finest song Edgar has ever sung.

  • @taildragger53 u almost knelt i prayer?

  • A classic. Disagree? Check out the cover by Johnny Lang, the spirit of this song and Edgar's belief in it echoes 40 years later.

  • This > Pac and Big runnin

  • I love this song! Edgar is singing and he's got a wonderful voice.

  • found this cos of pac song runnin

  • @StevenInselman I had to wiki SYOR to know what your talking about.. how did that bring you here?

  • Stoooooppp waaarrrrr muslim+christian+jewish = love

  • Biggie & Pac's "Runnin'" brought me here after listeing to a DJ Baby Yu mix finally allowed me to know where the original came from... damn... i got an eerie feeling from this, but i respect the raw emotion of it...

  • It's on me.

  • Thanks for posting this- saw Edgar on some TV concert show years ago. He sat down at a grand piano and did this one by himself. Even as a young man who only liked hard rock, I was floored by the majestic power of the man.

  • damn great song

  • I love thisEdgar Winter song! He is one of my favorite artists and this song from the 70's remains one of my favorites!

  • Awe man,..I didnt think I would find this song.This one,and "The Ashes,The Rain,and I",by James Gang.Those two songs are stuck within my soul,..forever.

  • awesome song :) :(

  • man this guy can write and sing............dam this guy sounds like stevie wonder...but damn why is all the deepest music made before the 80's.....its becuase the music INDUSTRY had not become what it is now......a fast food restaurant for us all to feast on garbage

  • @guyanacologist i agree, but that doesnt mean deep music isnt being made outside the industry, nowadays you just gotta look outside of the mainstream/industry music to find the good stuff man

  • There is pure beauty in misery.

  • I GREW UP A FUCKIN SCREW UP

  • @roopyy GOT INTRODUCED TO THE GAME, GOT AN OUNCE AND FUCKING BLEW UP

  • @roopyy me too, but I loved this song back then as much as I do now. IT GIVES HOPE

  • @roopyy got introduced to the game and fucing BLEW UP!

  • i grew up a fucking screw up

  • @MaxKirk21 Get that shit outta here this is Edgar Winter not biggie

  • @Ilakkyan yet the majority of people that watched this video are because of runnin'. u sound real intimidating defending edgar winter.

  • @MaxKirk21 Lol if you believe it is possible to sound intimidating over the internet you are a sad, sad little man. And im not defending anyone, but this is an edgar winter's video, not biggie or tupac, they are all amazing artists in their own respect but I dont see why you kids come to one artists video and talk about another artist on the video. 'i grew up a fucking screw up' has nothing to do with THIS video, when you compare the meaning behind this video to the one by big and 2pac

  • @Ilakkyan actually, you are wrong. first of all i never claimed that it was possible to be intimidating over the internet, i did the opposite, i called u out because your immediate unnecessary defense made it appear that u were trying to sound tough. and like i stated in my previous comment. the majority of the people on this video came her because they heard the song runnin' and wanted to hear what it was sampled from so in fact my comment has everything to do with THIS video.

  • Although I HATE the practice of "sampling", I will say that the only good thing about it is that it opens up a window for people to hear different , and often better, music.

  • round & round

  • Jonny Lang does an excellent version of this

  • i really really get upset when people credit this song to Tupac Shakur. I actually do like Tupac and think he was a revolutionary in the Hip Hop industry; but Edgar Winter is a genius, and this song epitomizes beauty.

  • I love you tupac :( why your dead

  • 2Pac and Notorious B.I.G. - Runnin' ..in 1971 2pac was born. this song too...

  • Edgar sang it in 1973 at the Spectrum in Philly. Treasured memory. I hear this and I'm 17 again. 70s fusion - A million thanks, "Frankenstein' is the song of my high school graduating class. Johnny and Edgar were unbelievable THEN and NOW. Two brother who came from dirt farming backgrounds could really hit the gospel rock when NO one else was doing it. This song, save the planet and tobacco road won't EVER get old for THIS baby boomer. We lived the dream!

  • 2pac and biggie actually brought me here. but this original song is dope

  • Beutiful

  • One of the most uncovered songs ever. I Think nobody can sing it right. I have been in clubs my entire life and i have never heard the song covered. A great great song

  • @JodyG57 it nearly brought tears to my eyes.

  • BEST VOCAL , Why am ..

  • beautiful

  • beautiful

  • ahh loving it

  • oh my goodness...just im blow away.

  • Saw Him do this live, also play with Johnny.Nice to survive to see this post.Namaste

  • wow..the lyrics

  • Johnny Lang does a nice cover Saw Edgar in Roanoke VA for * bucks 2009. The best so GREAT! never lost anything What a musician!

  • Gotta admit the words really make you think...have loved this song for a long time

  • man this song is deep

  • @AudioInklined no its not im just pointing out the sample not ordering a burger

  • i like this song deep message

  • It's one of my friends that wrote the song...I love the lyrics.

  • @charlie27162 ... Edgar Winter was your friend?

  • R i P

    2 PaC & BiGGiE

  • @WhiTeY33GuiTaRiSt why do you put that here

  • @DEGGTho The comments about biggie and tupac are due to a song called runnin' from the police which the two recorded in 93' along with several other artists. Following the death of tupac and biggie, Eminem produced a new version of the song and used the chorus of Edgar Winter's Dying to Live as the main theme of the song. So some people that watch this video have come here because the rap song. Thats how I came here as well actually, although I knew who edgar Winter was long before tupac

  • @JMDynasty92 Yeah, I Know That, But He Says RIP On A Song That Doesn't Even Have Biggie And 2Pac In It...

  • @DEGGTho ya, because this song invokes the memory of those two, who have a famous version of the song. When something stirs up the memory of beloved dead, people generally say "RIP", i dont see why its that weird

  • Pedro Aznar & David Lebon have a great spanish version from the Master Winter

  • Hermoso tema, hermosa letra !!!

  • Awesome song and vocals.

  • I knew on some level that they sampled this for Resurrection, so I looked it up. This is one of those songs where if you catch people in the right mood it can change an entire way of thinking.........I just love it

  • I think I just listened to this song 8 times in a row...outstanding!

  • Comment removed

  • everything is true in this song !

  • I tattoo the words of this song on me for the reason that it have a strong meaning for me and am happy I got it :)

  • The very essence behind the lyrics to this song Is bhe knows he is goin to die young, having said that Edgar Winter is an albino and they have a short life span, that's all I know about, that!! Heard him sing this song in the Filmore East, the very night it closed it's doors forever!!!! EW the total package!!!

  • @havanakings yeah but Edgar is is great shape.. Johnny can't walk...can't see... saw JW last year it was sad....

  • This is something like Otis Rush' 'Gamblers Blues' the words and phrasing. Wouldn't doubt it being an unconscious influence. the verse is profound, the chorus doesn't match up quite is highly, that would have made this bigger than 'Hey Jude' IMHO

  • it's so soulful that you would never expect one of the whitest guys around to made it. I love this song. not to say white guys don't have soul! I'm a white guy myself!

  • I'm a hip hop junkie but I'll honestly say that I like this as much as Tupac and Biggie's "Runnin".

  • the amount of love i have for this song, is HUGE.

  • who ever said this is Lacriox singing on this dont know the band ,,,,,,,,, geeeee tiapromo ha !!! get an album and read it and know the diff voices this isnt a boogie king voice but i love Lacroix 's voice

  • If there is one thing I like about SOME hip hop artists is that they have great taste in music. I am a young male of 26 years of age so I have only been exposed to a few good sings in my youth, not to mention a certain kind of music. So when I listen to a rap/hip hop song, I know they are usually sampled. I find the sample and come across beautiful songs such as this one. I thank those artists and the originals for having taste and creating wonderful music that I can appreciate.

  • i heard the tupac and biggie song and then i heard this and this is amazing also... but it shocks me that its from like 1970 i cant help but think its from 1900-1950s haha

  • love this song !huge Edgar fan since Entrance lp. gp

  • love this song! i love the fact he allowed Em, to sample this

  • 2pac n Biggie runnin

  • @RUKHAS7171 is that all you had to contribute?

thats like seeing a video about hamburgers and you saying "Cheeseburger"

  • @RUKHAS7171 thats how i found this haha

  • @RUKHAS7171 no dont you dare compare that to this i honestly have no idea what the fuck to even call that song this song is so much better that that shit come on kid go somewhere else and post that shit

  • and cool

  • 70sfusion good man you or cool

  • I'm not sure why this song wasn't a huge hit. It certainly had all the ingredients of a number 1 hit on the (pop) charts. Perhaps it was up against some very stiff competition back then.

Thanks for posting, it's remained one of my all-time favorite songs.

  • @nappyfro97

yep it's used for the track ''runnin''' bye tupac n biggie, they only customized the vocal as you can hear, I listen to it every day, just like this incredible song

    peace from south Holland

  • I remember hearing this in Don Kirshners Rock Concerts one night, a great song.

  • Comment removed

  • Jerry La Croix...aka Jerry "Count" Jackson didn't sing this. Edgar wrote it and sang it. He and Johnny were neighbors of mine in Beaumont. Incredible statement in this song.............

  • @tiapromo Actually my friend, it really was Edgar who was the vocalist on this song. Jerry Lacroix sang quite a bit on the White Trash album, where this song came from, But Jerry has a much lower, distinctive growling bluesy type voice, as in "Fly Away".

  • Comment removed

  • @70sfusion Any Edgar Winter Fan knows this is Edgar! Good Call. Check out the remake on his Best Of.

  • @70sfusion Yeah, its Edgar. They have two different vocal ranges.... Jerry is more in the bari/ tenor area. Edgar can sing more into high tenor / saprano/ and more.

  • @70sfusion how old is this song

  • @Alex19al The year "1971" is right there in the title, so....

  • @manfocused yea....

  • @tiapromo Edgar sang this Jerry sang "I got News". I saw Jerry sing live. He had some great pipes. Edgar knew that. Both could wail and tear it up.
