  • I was 6 years old when that come out. I remember the London Weekend Television ident appearing on shows on a Sunday evening on ATV watching the regular series of programmes before bedtime and school the next day.

With only 3 TV channels them days programming had to be entertaining else you had no choice to anything else. I am almost 43 and I am sounding like an old codger puffing on his pipe and in his slippers.

  • I've got the full series on DVD. It's a VERY FUNNY and HILARIOUS sitcom, I recommend it.

  • I think they should done more series's of this, cause this was a really good ITV Sitcom during the 70's, much much much much much much much better than On The Buses, Man About The House and George and Mildred.

  • Pat Ashton turned up in The Gaffer with Bill Maynard from 81 to 83. Another great supporting performance.

  • Very funny, overlooked sitcom from La Frenais and Clement. Bob Hoskins is hilarious as Dobbsy with great support from John Thaw and Pat Ashton. I recently bought the entire series on dvd, well worth it.

  • Whatever happened to Pat Ashton? She just seemed to drop out of sight around the mid 80's. One of the sexiest women to grace British TV (maybe too sexy?)

  • Never heard of this one. The opening credits are so like the Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads.

I guess the guys were commissioned to right a Southern Likely Lads for LWT. Hope I can find a full episode somewhere.

  • getting to kiss pat ashton..she's so hot...they are not....

  • bob hoskins looked very different then with them thick glasses
