The only drawback is the relatively short lifespan of about 12 years. It's heartbreaking to lose such a wonderful pal so soon.

@hbunnyo Many are born with bobtails or even long tails. A long tail usually is bobbed shortly after birth; some natural bobtails are cropped closer, and some bobtails are left as-is. I don't approve bobbing, but it's standard practice. I'm not a breeder, and I don't think I'd be able to bring myself to cut off any puppy's tail. We've had two Aussies, one with a collie-like tail and the other who was born bobtailed and then cropped closer just after birth.
I think it is horrible to cut the tails of the dogs. Why would you do that? I hate people who cut the tails of their dogs. Do you want someone to cut off one of your fingers? Just because he likes it better!?

I breed Aussies. I hand picked the parents. Two of the most amazing litters I have ever seen. I wish I could have kept all 16 of them. I did keep four though. Six Aussies is a hand full!
I have a cat who is 6 and an Aussie that is just over a year. My cat slaps her all the time in the muzzle and head. It's cute because it turns into a game. The cat in the video acts like mine, just a slap and thats it. despite the age difference and size, they play like that all the time. And yes, I am 110% sure its all play.

My aussie had a couple pups but I didn't know what to do with them. Nobody wanted them. I fed them to my pet python, and it made him happy. I didn't have to buy any rabbits for a couple of months. My aussie is pregnant again, so I'll t have to do it all over again. :(

Chances are that your aussie *is* purebred. They very often have 1 brown eye and 1 blue. Our Aussie was a rescue. Previous owners worked all day, so Hannah was in a crate all day AND all night. She still prefers sleeping in her crate, but we're home with her all day. They're super smart, and very nice dogs who truly want to please their people.

When we brought home are australian shepard puppy from the shelter they said he was not a mutt. Now he is 16 weeks old and is tall, muscular , his coat has blue and gray spots,he has the little brown spots above his eyes like a rottie would,and his ears stand straight up. man AUSSIES ARE THE BEST DOGS! I had my since she was six weeks old and she looked just like that! Like a big black and white cotton ball with blue eyes. they are the cutest dogs out there!

Chances are that your aussie *is* purebred. They very often have 1 brown eye and 1 blue. Our Aussie was a rescue. Previous owners worked all day, so Hannah was in a crate all day AND all night. She still prefers sleeping in her crate, but we're home with her all day. They're super smart, and very nice dogs who truly want to please their people.

I bought a "pure breed" aussie pup without papers, is they any real way to identify pure breads? some say by a marking on the roof of their mouths, which he has. but he also has one brown eye and one blue

When we brought home are australian shepard puppy from the shelter they said he was not a mutt. Now he is 16 weeks old and is tall, muscular , his coat has blue and gray spots,he has the little brown spots above his eyes like a rottie would,and his ears stand straight up. We have figured out that he is obviously with a rottie. Any words on what else he might be mixed with ?

I have a Border Collie/Aussy mix and he's a good ole boy =]. really smart and loyal. lots of energy too. he looked a little like these guys when he was a puppy, only he had darker colorations. These dogs look like stuffed animals when they're little, lol.

I have an Ausie but he is fully grown. The only thing is that he is pretty fat but still probably one of the cutest dogs I have ever seen. His butt is so big!!!!!! These guys remind me of miniature versions of him.

i have two australian shepherds.one is 1 and a half.the other is nine. the one year old is a big handful!she is sooo hyper and loves her frisbee.she always tries to get it out of the bag.they were sooo cute when they were puppies.i love them!!

These guys are so cute. I am getting a aussie puppy next year. I cant wait till I get my little guy or girl. I am so trilled. I saw and meet one in the pet store and I just feel in love with him. But my mom had a couple while she was growing up and she says there the best dogs to have.

OMG They are soo cute I have a Blue Merle aussie he is soo cute he'll be 1 in March and he's a show dog I show all my dogs but I am going to breed Java, my aussie, but not in a bad way when we sell them to loving homes they give away breeding rights or they are co-owned by us. And I thinkn its wonderful what you did for those pups
