  • Oh yes, the announcer is the late Joel Crager, who was "the voice of ABC's movie nights" in the '70s and '80s...

  • @fromthesidelines Great info I will add it to the keywords

  • "DOCTOR ZHIVAGO" is no longer available for network TV broadcasts; it usually appears on Turner Classic Movies (as its parent company, Time-Warner, owns the rights to the film because they own the original MGM film library), or "leased" to other cable channels...and American Public Television, which sends it to some of their public TV affiliates during "fund-raising weeks": one of them is New York's WNET, which occasionally presents it on their Saturday evening "CINEMA 13".

  • Saw this film today on TCM probably the only place you can see it now.

  • Y'know there is a station on cable - called the "G4" channel.

They have an intro I saw the other night that was VERY reminiscent of these '70s ABC intros being shown here on this post.

  • @mwhite36 i saw those too on G4. they did a great job of capturing the look and feel of these movie showcases. they're still showing them on G4

  • When was this?

  • movies that dont suck XD

  • This bought back wonderful memories, but notice they didn't mention the director. Sorry, Dave, hope you ain't mad.

  • Um, excuse me, elithecat do you have the MGM logo as seen on Doctor Zhivago on ABC Sunday Night Movie? If you have please upload it. Thank you.

  • that tape I am sad to say is long gone. but I will keep my eyes open for another. Are you just looking for an MGM logo from that era?

  • Yes, Please upload it.

  • ack seeing the god warrior after this washed my buds of the past clean.. no i've been violated! dr. zhivago was an incredible moment of creative ability... thank god for the arts!

  • Dr.Zhivago was a great film. Directed by Sir David Lean and had an all star cast with Julie Christie as Lara. She won an academy award for the 1965 film "Darling" which Dr. Zhivago also released.

  • The first time I saw Dr Zhivago was on the ABC Sunday Night Movie!
