I worked with the Fresno Police Department officers during the 1980's. At the time, they were basically targets for gangs to shoot at, and thus the officers were always on the offensive. Incredible men and women that I got to interact with nightly, and I still have communication with one gentleman from that lifetime ago (even though I now live on the east coast of Canada). yes cops in north america do carry sidearms, they also carry a 12 guage shotgun in the patrol car, and in some cases, also an assault rifle in the trunk. cops here dont fuck around!!!

If you want respect - then DELIVER respect to the community for which you have been sworn to SERVE and PROTECT.
I know what "OATH" means and I know what service to country means. However, there are far too many bad cops getting away with murder on the streets and THEY need to go.

You can block opposing views if you want, but you do realize the truth of what I'm saying. If cop want respect, then cops should offer respect and STOP the illegal behavior that you see far too much on American streets against civilians.
How many videos are there showing police engaged in unlawful conduct? Acting as if there are no bad cops doing illegal things is tantamount to sticking your head in the sand.
When snipers start targeting bad cops, maybe bad cops will get the message.

Anyone should be able to own and use any type of firearm whether it be automatic (meaning semi-auto), full-automatic, bolt action, lever action, single shot, etc. Any laws against firearms are a direct violation of the 2nd Amendment, anyone enforcing such violations should be "removed" from the USA..

couldn't disagree more. If everyone has a firearm (think Switzerland) crime goes WAY down. as compared to England, no guns (except for criminals) yet violent crimes are through the roof! i.e. Louisiana was having a problem with car jacking so the Governor made it legal to carry ANY weapon in your vehicle. Since then the number of car jacking is now the lowest in the country!

I fully agree. I'm glad that we have a no gun policy in the UK. Of course a certain sector of the criminal world smuggle guns in, but the police are starting to get trained in the use of tazers. Not nice to get stung by one, but at least it won't kill anyone! I would never move to USA!

Just too expensive. The crappy vests we wear help, but they won't stop an automatic rifle. If we were to start wearing full-body armor it would require a massive boost in our budget or we'd top out after armoring only a small percentage of our officers.
