It's the Northeast Asians that are smarter. All other Asians (Southeast, Western, Central) all lag behind. The Chinese, Koreans and Japanese are the smart Asians. These people have higher IQs than other Asians. The rest of Asia is in the third world.
I think Asians have an inherent advantage when it comes to mathematics. Obviously it would be ignorant to say 100% of Asians are good at math but I do believe the Asian race is on average more likely to produce someone who is good at math. The races evolved in different climates so it is reasonable to assume a race is more likely to produce an individual who behaves in a certain way. Note: "More likely" is not the same as "100%."

I feel so sad for Asians who are not smart but need to live up to the stereotype that “Asians are smart” or those whose parents are strict because their sons/daughters’ Asian peers are doing well. Parents should provide guidance and leave their children along to do whatever they like. False expectations lead to depression and suicide. Smart kids spent less time on understanding classroom materials and can have time to have extracurricular easier. That’s why top universities look for EC’s. Leave kids along to do whatever they are self-motivated for, and they will shine.

I think Asians are smarter, they are also the best musicians, for some reason, analytical thinking comes more naturally, hence the strength in math and science. One theory i have is due to language, at least for east asians. Chinese/Japanese/formerly Korean rely on a character based system using symbols as words with very intricate details. I think through natural selection, those who had the brains to become literate survived, and lesser minds died off. But there are geniuses from every race.

The only reason Asians, such as me, get average to good grades is because we actually try to study and sit down a couple hours a day to do HW and look at classroom material. Otherwise my Asian friends who don't do the same are on the lower side of the academic spectrum.

My college roommate was Phi Beta Kappa. He was great at memorizing information. However, he did not do that well on standardized tests that required reasoning ability.

I feel so sad for Asians who are not smart but need to live up to the stereotype that “Asians are smart” or those whose parents are strict because their sons/daughters’ Asian peers are doing well. Parents should provide guidance and leave their children along to do whatever they like. False expectations lead to depression and suicide. Leave them along, only the smart self-motivated ones can survive top university competitions once they are in.

Smart kids spent less time on understanding classroom materials and can have time to have extracurricular easier. That’s why top universities look for EC’s. Force your children to study extremely hard and have strong EC’s at the same time can be devastating. Hard work is certainly good and necessary but work to death is not. Leave kids along to do whatever they are self-motivated for, and they will shine.

But, you need money for:
1. Hi-quality education (ie: from prestigious universities)
2. Medical expenses (what if you get cancer, or paralysed after falling off a Peruvian mountain??).
3. A proper house...that you can fully pay off without creating a mountain of debt elsewhere.

I think what we have here is a difference between an incumbent population and the offspring of an immigrant population. the immigrants, in this case east-asian parents, move to the US and scrape by and struggle to make sure their children have things they didn't. this results in strict parenting, pushing the children to succeed, to achieve things they themselves never had a chance to. evidence? indian/south-asian children are the same way(another famously "smart" population). I think Asians are smarter, they are also the best musicians, for some reason, analytical thinking comes more naturally, hence the strength in math and science. One theory i have is due to language, at least for east asians. Chinese/Japanese/formerly Korean rely on a character based system using symbols as words with very intricate details. I think through natural selection, those who had the brains to become literate survived, and lesser minds died off. But there are geniuses from every race.

Only a handful of them are really encouraged by their parents, and even in those cases it's very indirect encouragement. Asian parents might say "Do well so you can be successful," but never "I know you can get an A, honey! Mommy loves you!"

I think that you are correct in the sense that anyone wanting to pass a test can study and pass it. I also agree that anyone can be hard working, no matter what race. However, this video also states that since the drop of white children, and the rise of Asian children, test scores have vastly improved. @VictimOfBoredom My point being (I assume you're getting at your original statement) that not everything excluded in books becomes false or non-mainstream information, necessarily. Also, last time I checked, Boye and Nisbett sound like English, therefore, European names.

@VictimOfBoredom If they grew up with "western culture" they are western. Their roots are European. Their cultural roots and thought are based in the Mediterranean cultural area on the other side of the globe, not here. As to your last one, I would call them either married to a European or (if not) Colonized like the millions of brown skinned, black haired "Gonzalezes", "Lopezes" or millions of black skinned, kinky haired "Joneses" or "Jacksons".

Some researchers say that IQ among whites has dropped as much as 10 points since about 1850. The reason is that as white countries were the first to become economically advanced and health standards and so forth improved, more low IQ whites survived for longer and reproduced. That is kind of an interesting idea: As populations get richer, IQ drops.

My college roommate was Phi Beta Kappa. He was great at memorizing information. However, he did not do that well on standardized tests that required reasoning ability.
