I hate to say it but just looking at how cars are being made these days, manual trannys will be a thing of the past, god forbid, cuz if you noticed the car industries have slowly been offering less and less of stick shifts and more paddle shifters
with manuals you get a faster gear change, thus retaining engine power, and the car in its 'power band' something which automatics cannot seem to do unless they are super expensive. Fuel economy is definitely better with a manual, not to mention that you get better handling. Oh and in response to cannonbulk - 99.5% of UK drivers learn with manual and the gear box's last the life of the car, plus manuals are incredibly easy! clutch control...you dont even need to think about, its just so simple.

An Automatic set up for the street is intended to ebe slow on shifts. How ever they can be set up to shift as fast as they can go, faster than a human can do it. Thasts the reason that the torque-flites busted a--s so bad on drag stips for Mopar back in the 60's. Till now most A/T's were only 2 or 3 speeds, a manual 5 or 6 speed wuold allow an engine to stay in it's power- band more of the time.

I have to say that I learned to drive in a manual, when in the UK the only cars I've ever driven have been manuals. I drove an Auto in Canada, and a manual in France. I much prefer the manual. In Europe 80% of people drive manuals.

An Automatic set up for the street is intended to ebe slow on shifts. How ever they can be set up to shift as fast as they can go, faster than a human can do it. Thasts the reason that the torque-flites busted a--s so bad on drag stips for Mopar back in the 60's. Till now most A/T's were only 2 or 3 speeds, a manual 5 or 6 speed wuold allow an engine to stay in it's power- band more of the time.

You can never say a auto tranny more durable...If it is more durable why do you have to rebuild it after 100.000 miles in American Cars,because it is so(!) durable.If you behave manual transmissions good you can use the same transmission for whole life of the car.Manual has faster acceleration,less sophisticated,so it is problemless and easier to operate if you gotta problem.

No matter what supercar or an exotic you throw in against the evo,the evo still wins on a closed circuit. The evo puts exotics to shame because of its cornering weapon in an AWD, the AYC (Active Yaw Control), and a turbo engine which provides amazing acceleration. Tuner cars like the evo should not be underestimated by those exotic car owners. So beware.

You should watch the video of the same driver attacking the Nurburgring in the NSX-R. it's fantastic.
