  • Yoko Kanno is Cowboy Bebop.

  • Yoko Kanno is sooooo dang cute!!!!!!!!

  • definitely inspired by rhapsody in blue by gershwin

  • DUDE!!! u got soul!!!

  • That's an awesome coat Yoko's wearing at the start. I WANT IT! :D

  • If only a jazz bar with a piano near me played this song... :)

  • for the record, classy now has a new meaning.

soo... anyone got an idea who the dude is in the beginning of the vid?

  • @xPurplyFuNx thats the singer from the seatbelts

  • @xPurplyFuNx Tim Jensen

  • Can I have the sheet music? ._.

  • still the best anime out there. so memories, growing up with that anime. :) best ever :D

  • Sweeet!!!!!

  • sounds kind of like it was inspired by rhapsody in blue.

  • It really was just a cult smash hit of an anime. Amazing just out of this universe music, very appropriate for such a fantastic show

  • See you space cowboy... I love that show so many Memories! :')

  • S Y S C 2071

You said it! So many many many memories!

  • awesome.

(make sure you keep the refrigerator clean...see you space cowboy...) ;o)

  • @artisanrox hahaha awesome

  • That music was really good. Casinos that cheat the players is quite an interesting scenario for Cowboy Bebop, since gambling for money is illegal in Japan.

  • the house always wins

  • The only exception is for the card counters, biased wheel players, etc. However, very few of the people who get into that kind of stuff succeed in the long run because most of those players over bet their bankroll, underestimate the frustration of losing as long as months, don't learn it and master it well enough, etc.

  • I hate that guy in the suit. Lucky motherf%)$%@...

  • Man I want this piece so bad, I think I'll try looking for it.

  • Use your ears. It's free and you can increase you skills at the same time. It's a pain doing it at first but it's gotta be done if you wanna grow.

  • I have sheet music for Piano Bar I and Goodnight Julia... will email if you give me your address.

  • @snowyhavard Please email the sheet music for piano bar

  • hardcore blues.

  • See you space cowgirl...

  • Oh but I still love Yoko...

  • Ofakar: yes but there are also many kinds of musical intelligence. And while some songs may be more intricate and complex than others, it means nothing when not enjoyed.

  • Circus for example requires people with extraordinary talent and kinetic abilities. Audience with a certain knowledge of somatic physics will probably appreciate them better due to their understanding of flexibility and power. Yet there are people who dislikes circus shows, prefering.. for example football. Bah, strange example :( But still I don't think it's necessarily because people don't "understand" music that they don't "appreciate" it.

  • i'm going to use this song for college jazz tryouts next fall

  • I GET INSPIRED WHEN I LISTEN TO YOKO kANNO'S MUSIC..... It draws me in somehow...

  • the beauty of music and definitely the beauty of Kanno's music!

  • ^^ Exactly!

  • how is the bald guy in the beginning?

  • I love this. She sounds so grungy and raw. Feel bad for those hammers and strings at 0:34!!

  • hahahahahah she through in a bit of rhapsody in blue. That is fantastic!

  • Oh, this is great. And the beginning of the movie just makes me smile. <3

  • epic win?

    damn right!

  • This song is great and makes me feel goooood.

Oh and to the "90% of jazz sounds the same comment". Seriously dude, go get some Miles Davis Quintet, Herbie Hancock-Head Hunters, Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, and Bill Evans. Yes, jazz has A LOT of borrowing, especially in main stream jazz, and a lot of older jazz sounds similar because they use the same chord progressions. But soooo much music uses the same progressions. This sounds similar to songs because it's basically a blues (chord subs).

  • What makes jazz different is how the musicians play together and use the chords. It's aaall about spontaneity, improvisation, melody, and most important rhythm! Plus, this is only talking about "standards". Now and days, jazz uses very unique chord progressions, rhythm structures, and melodies quite often.

Listen to Chick Corea and tell me that sounds like the same old jazz.

  • there's different types of intelligence, like logical intelligence, social intelligence, and definitely musical intelligence.

You serve people what they can comprehend.

Like this guy doesn't understand chordprogressions and colorfur harmonics is the same as how others don't get an advance piece of math or lacks the ability to catch a piece of irony.

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

I apologize for my inability of coherence and/or any verbal communication at all. Or something. I just love this song too much. ♥ ♥

  • this is amazing

  • there's NO WAY that I can't fall in love with this song!!!

  • All good music is inspired by good music before it.

  • i disagree. good music had to have started somewhere

  • come on...don't even get me started on howard shore and carmina burana/conan the barbarian. or james horner and irish folk pieces, or harry gregson williams, brian tyler, and every other Hans Zimmer zerox machine out there. this piece at best evokes a similar musical feeling...we already know Kanno likes to do that...but none of it is actually even like rhapsody in blue. not to mention 90% of all the jazz out there sounds the same anyways. Didn't you hear Gershwin in that Will & Grace theme?

  • I agree with you 100% until the statement that 90% of all jazz sounds the same. This is a nice piece that is no doubt greatly inspired Rhapsody in Blue. It does not detract or add to the quality of the piece.

  • partialy the "all jazz sounding the same ]" its kinda true cause its jazz because of its scales notes and rythm ergo de facto ist similar in its composition

  • ...wow...

All Jazz sounds the same? I think you need to get out and actually listen to jazz.

  • Well yea there is the good jazz that sounds the same, and then there is the crappy jazz that sounds like a 4 year old got ahold of instruments.

  • HOT

    FAP FAP FAP

  • yup!

I'd agree to that Gershwin similarity! ;)

    Great composing anyway...

  • woaaaaaaaaah great composer!!

  • jazz at it's core is all about improvisation. and she's doing it here, fantastic.

  • dude seriously, cornrow that motherfucker.

    anyway, love this song

  • In the spirit of Jazz, she MUST rough it up a little bit. She composed it for crying out loud. She can do whatever she wants to it!

  • Does anyone know a song that's similar to this song? (Not a song from Yoko Kanno) From other Jazz musicians?

  • that is beautiful. This is a classic, I love it. Very well done!

  • This reminds me of Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue' a bit. Nevertheless, great song.

  • i would love to know who made the recording

  • I want the sheet music for this so bad. I don't even know how to read music, but for this I would learn.

  • I love love love this its really beautiful!!! ;)

  • Beautiful, beautiful...

  • this is a realy perfect execution...brava

  • Nice! I never thought you could play that piece that way. I have to try that too, more contrasts...

  • does anyone know if there's a live album? some of the arrangements on the osts aren't very good.

  • heureusement que Yoko est là

  • The song was well composed, however the performance was a little square.

  • I thought it sounded beautiful and she did write this piece so she would have an idea of what she wanted it to sound like .....~_~

  • Praise to Yoko Kanno. One of the greatest most talented musicians the world has EVER known.

  • i would love to see your rendition, also sheet music please!

  • wow, we're all so impressed. no really. but seriously, no one cares if you could play it better or what you think about it, so shut up.

  • i guess it's good that you feel that you can play better, but the woman playing is the woman who composed the piece, so she probably would have a better idea of what she wants it to sound like. it's understandable if you simply would prefer it to sound a different way. :) also, this is a recording, so the quality of the sound probably got ruined in the taping.

  • dude, i like this one... but i do aggre with you on the more of a "smoky bar" feal is needed..

  • Could you please record your version of this already, plox? :(

  • Newfag detected.

And please do post your version of the song, Jim.

  • well she wrote the damn thing

  • What's wrong with sounding too perfect, aren't you supposed to rehearse?

  • LOL you serious?. you must be incredibly dumb

  • Lloré, y me reí muchcísisisisismo,

  • fuck yes

  • so damn good! and wat a great imrpov

  • Yoko Kano's conceptualizations for the soundtracks are unique! she is a brilliant!

  • one of my favs ^^

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I got my copy from Animescores, com Dunno if thats what your lookin for, but its the version being played here.

    Someone has to have it!!!

  • wow! 0.0

  • ive played the other version of this. but this one is amazing...

  • Great piece

  • I can play real folk blues. Thats about it.

  • I wish I could actually play an instrument. All I want is to play Yoko Kanno music, but singing doesn't cover most of it...
