Hey I did exactly what you said. And I mean step-by-step what you have mentioned in the video, but still the video is in 4:3 ratio.

Could it be because my video is in PAL format rather than NTSC?

@Sohaib777 Well, I don't believe that would be a problem, but just to be sure, go to "Project properties" and make sure that your Frame rate is the same as it is on your template, for example:

My Properties are: HDV 1080-50i (1440x1080, 25.000 fps)

And then the frame rate is: 25.000 (PAL)

And then they should match

This is a legit tutorial and thank you for it but the problem is 4:3 always stretches out and I know there's got to be a way not to lose the quality when its stretched out b/c I've seen it done plenty of times before with 4:3 videos without converting to 16:9.

@IcePackie Well, I stated that in video that it might looked stretched, but to be perfectly honest I've never had quality problems. May I ask what Project Properties because that has caused some quality issues for me on occasions

You can also do this my right clicking anywhere on the video / picture, go to properties > uncheck the Maintain aspect ratio.

i did this but well, my vid was taped in 16:9 but then imported by windows media player, obviously by 4:3 and when i click the Mantain aspect ratio (no) it does nothing at all and i want the actuall video streched. I had to capture video from windows movie maker cause i only have the right firewire for one pc.

I must be an idiot. I do exactly what you say, but it just crops my video, cutting the sides off.

It's a 4:3 ratio video that got stretched by accident during encoding. I'm trying to stretch it back to 4:3, but it just keeps cropping it. So frustrating.

Go to "File" then "Properties" and adjust the width to "1280 and the height to "720". After that check the box that saids "Start all projects with these settings. Hope this helped
