Some people need to figure out that good graphics don't equal a good game.

A good gameplay, UI design, Mod-ability and story (most test the game at SP before going to MP) have the biggest factor on ''good game''. Graphics only add as another variable.

WiC was able to deliver great gameplay, UI, Mod-ability and story with great graphics for 07 TRTG (Tactical Real-time Game).

For me, I own all games by Massive Entertainment. They're just jewels in their time. Things that stay on your PC.

I have ground deformation in DX9 in WinXP.

Its a standard feature.

zoom into ground level and go forward over the crater, if you cant see it then, your games messed up

How do i install an newer version of direct x on my computer? I had to install a older version to play some Dino Crisis. Direct x only has to do with game graphics right? It doesn't affect video quality too? Sorry if these questions are a little dumb. I am not too keen on computer tech.

in order to use DX10, you need to upgrade your operating system to windows vista

Well firstly you need a graphics card that WILL support DX10 for example when I had an old replacement 7600 and slamming this game into DX10 the end result wasn't much fun secondly you need to check your performence eg RAM and your CPU anything below 2GBs of ram and DX10 will lag

All I wanted to know if I could get back to DX7 or DX6. I only have about 512GB of RAM maybe 1 GIG. My computer is pretty crappy. It has a Nvidia Geforce 4 Mx 420 video card in it. Very low quality gaming on my rig. I cannot even run DOOM 3 lol. All I can run without lag and full graphics are emulators,and old DOS games.

I played the game and i was really disapointed. One of the worst strategic games i have ever played. Company of Heroes is way more better then this. And another thing that ruined the game is that american politics in it. Americas awesome and bla bla ... makes u think Russia is bad and USA is good. Really pises me off. I give this game 4/10

well the game isn't really a rts, it's actually more of a rtt, so u should have had different expectations. You should also try soviet assault to get the russian perspective.WiC does have larger maps compared to CoH which gives one more freedom and also there isn't as much micromanaging which is really a love or hate thing.

The smoke dispersing at 2:22 definitely isn't in the game. I've tried but it never does anything when I fly a helicopter over smoke. I have it on max settings. No matter what though this is probably one of the best looking RTS games out there, every battle is awesome to watch and looks very cinematic.

Sure, there are several new feilds and patches on the WIC (world in conflict) website. There's also an expansion pack coming this year in March called WIC: Soviet Assault.

Ok, I can see you have never tried vista. Vista is not an glossy version of xp, vista does not run slow, unless your pc is 5 year old CRAP. You may think it's overrated, but to tell you the truth, the funtions in vista will surely cripple me an an windows user if I ever where to only use xp again. At first, I where as skeptic as you are now of vista. The reason you may experience slow vista, is because vista has A TON of new features, both hidden and shown. Dont hate what you dont know...

If you have a good firewall capable of forcibly turn off programs like Comodo (not recommended though), or a high level of understanding of Operating system programs and functions as in knowing the right way to turn them off and which ones to turn off, you can turn a lot of the stuff off then Vista runs very nicely.

All of those features are in DX9.

Apart from soft shadows and particles and volumetric lighting. This can be enabled in DX9 in Crysis however so DX9 is capable of it.

MICROSOFT AND NVIDIA ARE PAYING DEVELOPERS TO RESTRICT NEXTGEN FEATURES IN DX9.

It has nothing to do with crysis other than being DX10. Strategy games usually aren't as detailed as first person shooters, but this comes pretty close. Nicest looking strategy gam that I've seen.

actually, wrong. if you knew anything about Direct x, you'd know that while most if not all these things can be done in DX9, they're very slow and/or needlessly difficult to do when compared to doing them in DX10. Furthermore, if you genius's would actually pay attention, you'd notice that he talked about deformation before talking about the DX10 features. Ground deformation isn't a DX10 feature. Hell, it's not even really a graphical feature, its a physics thing more than anything.

If you don't have Vista you can have a directx 10 video card but XP has only Dx9. And Directx 10 and Directx9 has differences only on max quality. You can have dx10, If you run a game on low,it doesn't matter. And if it's Call Of Duty 4 you can run it(i'm not 100% sure).

actually i found out that grouand deformation wasnt added into single player cause it interfered with ingame cinematics its only in multiplayer
