OK I downloaded Homebrew Channel Browser but most of the games I download from there are not running... What can this be the problem? Do I have to update my Wii cuz it is on one very old version... Please help! :)
After I got this, my Wii got the disk reading issue and had no other choice but to send it to Nintendo. I deleted the software and guess what? They discovered traces of it and wouldn't fix the Wii. I called Nintendo and they were willing to transfer my memory onto a new unit for 100 more dollars out of my pocket. When the Wii came back, all of the memory was gone. Assholes!
So just a word of warning: don't get the Homebrew channel because the next time it breaks, Nintendo won't accept it.
@Bam3135 oh the naive, 1 yes it will break your wii 1-2 updating (wii made updates to destroy homebrew) 1-3 at some point u will get an error message stating error has occured please turn off wii etc. etc.
@duffyD1982 Yes torrents are the only way to get wii iso's, who wants to download a 4.38gig file directly? Just saying Nintendo hunts people down for useing torrents for their games. The best way to pirate wii games is to get a external hard drive, format a partition to WBFS, and rent games from stores and rip them. You risk loosing your internet if you use torrents. i got a 1tb (1,000 gigs) hard drives for 50$ online. ($85-$90 if you don't do the mail and rebate.)
Even if I got this bullshit to work, the incompetents at Nintendo didn't foresee a need to provide the Wii with adequate enough memory to download many games. Hence why it is almost pointless to try & put a game on the Wii Shop Channel. I refuse to buy a handful of SD cards just to appease Nintendo's lack of foresight. They've screwed up big time.
The only way to fix this is to purchase a replacement. Pleasedo think carefully if you really want updates from nintendo. I dojot recomend this hack unless you wanna hack.

Hey Guys,I have a softmodded wii 4.3E and i've had it like this for like a month but for some reason yesterday, my SDHC card couldn't be read in my Wii,It used to work fine and read all my homebrew stuff like FCEUX GX etc.
I recently moved the mega man 9 and 10 DLCs to my SDHC from my wii to see if i could get my DLCs working cus they would'nt work either
MY SDHC still works in my pc and my wii still reads SD cards so i don't know why my Wii wont read SDHC anymore,can anyone help thanks :)

@gameboiplayer You most likely need it to use the homebrew browser so you can get stuff from it, but I don't see why you don't have your internet connected to your wii :L

Nintendo doesn't want you to use homebrew on your Wii. First off, I'm not sure they really have the right to dictate this. If you buy a car and put in a new engine, you might void your warranty, but no one is going to come over to your house to put back the original motor and make you pay the bill for it. You are not leasing a Wii, you are buying one. It's your property.

Nintendo doesn't want you to cheat on their games with downloaded saves to replace the ones on your machine (Think Mario Kart Wii) or grab some games for free (since that kinda sorta fucks with the Wii's economy, as far as money received per game and shit like that.)
@mettalicablood it won't ruin your wii. You just have to install it right. There's tutorial videos on you tube that show you how to do it. There are so many advantages when you get it. If u get your wii jail broken you can play DVDs, wii games, gamecube games and a lot of older games.

the only reason you will need to buy a game is if your firmware is
below 4.0 (this requires zelda)
or is firmware 4.3 (requires indiana Jones or yu gi oh as these are working hacks) i think there is a way to install on 4.3 without the games but i dunno

Nintendo doesn't see value in every game like people who emulate old, obscure classics do. And some of the software for the older consoles are not around in physical form anymore, or if so, very rare copies of the game.

I don't condone pirating, but I think in some degree it's justifiable when a company abandons software you want to get you hands on; They don't see profitability in it, so why pay a third party when all the money will only go to that person?
@bluephreakr Because that keeps money in circulation. Yes I know prices on many games is overblown (Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, and Chrono Trigger for example), but there are alternatives to piracy. Super Mario RPG and Earthbound are on the Wii Virtual Console, and Chrono Trigger is on Playstation and the Nintendo DS for much lower prices.
I have a softmodded Wii with enough emulators, roms, and burnt games to last for years it seems. And you wanna know something? Nintendo is still making a lot of money piracy or not. The most pirated game is New! Super Mario Bros. with 1.15 million downloads, but compare that to legit buyers of games like Mario Kart Wii with 24.01 million; I don't know about you but I think that more than makes up for it the "terrible dent" it's putting into Nintendo's sales. I mostly use it for emulators anyway.
@bluephreakr Nintendo didn't shut down the biggest ROM sites for the same reason why ThePirateBay is still up; it's close to impossible to shut down. Even if they did succeed in shutting them down they would be subject BIG TIME to the Streisand effect. I noticed a few of the sites rely on public file servers like Mediafire or similar for the actual ROM downloads, so I can imagine there would be a legal loophole somewhere. Like I said in my last comment, sales make up for Nintendo piracy.

@kjano9900 well, make a folder on the root of your sd card and call it "apps" w/o the quotes in that folder, copy the homebrew app. You should have: sd://apps/homebrewname/boot.dol
if the ".dol" file isn't named "boot.dol" , then rename it.

@ElCholoProductions No, I usually use my Wii on the internet, with Check Mii out, Wii shop, and etc. Nothing has happened yet, I've had a modded Wii for 4 weeks. But a few things MIGHT happen if you try to update your Wii (Wii System Update), it will look for HBC and all the other mods and remove them (if possible) and immunize your Wii from any further mods. Are you using a usb flash drive. If you are, this is why. Some, not all apps
are made only to support sd cards and not usb devices. The homebrew browser worked because
that supports usb drives and sd cards.
Some apps, when you load them, bring you right back to the homebrew channel because of this.
Try to get an sd card. 2 gb is a good size.

this is misleading and the chance of the homebrew channel doing this is small.
the homebrew channel is free and alot of people are scam getting it .But you will need a game to make the code work.
The only down point is it will void your wii if brand new.
you tell me if it right nintendo trying to sell me a game like super mario 64 what is years old.Plus if your not happy with the homebrew channel just remove it.like i said be carefull with usb loader

Nintendo doesn't want you to use homebrew on your Wii. First off, I'm not sure they really have the right to dictate this. If you buy a car and put in a new engine, you might void your warranty, but no one is going to come over to your house to put back the original motor and make you pay the bill for it. You are not leasing a Wii, you are buying one. It's your property.

Nintendo doesn't want you to cheat on their games with downloaded saves to replace the ones on your machine (Think Mario Kart Wii) or grab some games for free (since that kinda sorta fucks with the Wii's economy, as far as money received per game and shit like that.)

@mettalicablood it won't ruin your wii. You just have to install it right. There's tutorial videos on you tube that show you how to do it. There are so many advantages when you get it. If u get your wii jail broken you can play DVDs, wii games, gamecube games and a lot of older games.

@Lopatale you dont, depending on yuor wii firmware you only need an sd card with the required files to install the homebrew channel the files are free.
the only reason you will need to buy a game is if your firmware is
below 4.0 (this requires zelda)
or is firmware 4.3 (requires indiana Jones or yu gi oh as these are working hacks) i think there is a way to install on 4.3 without the games but i dunno

You'll end up paying money and then when you got your access you'll find a tutorial on how to install an open source torrent client.. so you pay them to use torrents as you would usually:)

Well my dad won't let me get The homebrewchannel because he said it may ruin your Wii. God I really want it bad but instead, my dad doesn't want me to have it. can somebody PLEASE explain to me what this homebrew channel is and how to get it in lamens terms? Im not a computer hacker and I have no experience in dealing with things like this yet I want it dammit! I feel like the only way to achieve getting it is to already know what the fuck you guys are talking about...which i dont. Its like a foreign language to me. If it's so bad, how come Nintendo hasn't shut down some of the biggest ROM websites around the Internet?
Nintendo doesn't see value in every game like people who emulate old, obscure classics do. And some of the software for the older consoles are not around in physical form anymore, or if so, very rare copies of the game.
Tell me how bad piracy is when you want an old, obsolete game someone offers $150 for.

I don't condone pirating, but I think in some degree it's justifiable when a company abandons software you want to get you hands on; They don't see profitability in it, so why pay a third party when all the money will only go to that person?

@bluephreakr Because that keeps money in circulation. Yes I know prices on many games is overblown (Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, and Chrono Trigger for example), but there are alternatives to piracy. Super Mario RPG and Earthbound are on the Wii Virtual Console, and Chrono Trigger is on Playstation and the Nintendo DS for much lower prices.

I have a softmodded Wii with enough emulators, roms, and burnt games to last for years it seems. And you wanna know something? Nintendo is still making a lot of money piracy or not. The most pirated game is New! Super Mario Bros. with 1.15 million downloads, but compare that to legit buyers of games like Mario Kart Wii with 24.01 million; I don't know about you but I think that more than makes up for it the "terrible dent" it's putting into Nintendo's sales. I mostly use it for emulators anyway.

@bluephreakr Nintendo didn't shut down the biggest ROM sites for the same reason why ThePirateBay is still up; it's close to impossible to shut down. Even if they did succeed in shutting them down they would be subject BIG TIME to the Streisand effect. I noticed a few of the sites rely on public file servers like Mediafire or similar for the actual ROM downloads, so I can imagine there would be a legal loophole somewhere. Like I said in my last comment, sales make up for Nintendo piracy.

Also, it's a weird copyright infringement thing. The law for copying texts onto paper blanks also applies for data burned onto disk blanks. Same difference if you boil it down at it's most basic parts.
But seriously speaking, if you own the content, of course! Copy all you please, or download pirated copies if you don't possess the ability to do so. It's all under "Fair use" to back up the content. :P

@kjano9900 well, make a folder on the root of your sd card and call it "apps" w/o the quotes in that folder, copy the homebrew app. You should have: sd://apps/homebrewname/boot.dol
if the ".dol" file isn't named "boot.dol" , then rename it.

@ElCholoProductions No, I usually use my Wii on the internet, with Check Mii out, Wii shop, and etc. Nothing has happened yet, I've had a modded Wii for 4 weeks. But a few things MIGHT happen if you try to update your Wii (Wii System Update), it will look for HBC and all the other mods and remove them (if possible) and immunize your Wii from any further mods. How do I use the Wii shop? Dop-Mii, Google it. PM me if you need any more info, "ElCholoProductions"

I REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO, PLEASE HELP... i tryed to install some ios wads and after that i went to homebrew channel and instead of loading it my wii freezes, wiimote stop responding and it shows black ccreen.
