No we don't think all Germans wear are Lederhosen or are all from Bavaria. Yes we like your beer and we like to have a little Oktoberfest here and there, and we don't think you're all Nazis. The celebration is about German heritage in America so what's closely associated with Germany (i.e. Lederhosen) is in the celebration. It doesn't mean we think that's all you wear.
Americans have a favorable view of Germany. Some Americans might be a tad ignorant, but that doesn't mean they are anti-German.
There r more nazis in america then in germany now days!! Im thinking abt moving to germany for good. I dont wanna live in the US anymore! I dont want to be part of the country that is doin a second holocaust in the middle east!! besides the first holocaust ever was done by the british. Every country has done bad stuff, but germany is pretty much the only 1 that actually admitted making a mistake and apologized and pays back money to the jews untill today.
Why always "Bavarian" and "polka"??? Because that is the most colorful and culturally different part of the country ... everything else looks/sounds "Western".
Tyrol homes with ornate decoration and flowers all over are much more colorful than the bland look of the rest of the country. "Hee Haw" vs MTV I'm afraid ... you be your own judge. Dirdl vs wardrobe malfunction ... your call.
Thanks for everybody's comments, regardless of your views.
I like it, that they dont forget their basics, they are sometimes more tradional then the people in germany..But is always shown bavarian culture/tardions, Bavaria is olny a part!!
I just have a couple of things to point out: First of all, the long horn thing(Alp horn) is Swiss. Secondly, Lederhosen may be a traditional icon of Bavaria but they don't wear it all the time. They dress the same as everybody else usually. It is mainly worn at events such as Oktoberfest.
The song has been written by a swiss guy and its called Duck dance in german and chicken dance in english.
It makes me lol when I see this vid because in Europe this song is for the children and btw Lederhosen, Oktoberfest and Weißwurst are bavarian traditions and Germany ≠ Bavaria. And also, in Bavaria nobody wears Lederhosen in his everyday life, its something that old people wear on festivals like the Oktoberfest

I must say that I love the German presence in the United States, but our folk music really sucks just like this stupid lederhosen xD
All the same I love to be a German and beer is the best thing mankind ever received^^
Prost

Lederhosen are cool. I'll admit Dirndls are even nicer to look at though.
