I saw Tracy Chapman in London before she was signed, way before Nelson Mandela concert. She played a shared bill with John Martyn & some others.

I deliberately missed the other acts to go backstage. I knew she was due to be huge.

I did meet her. She was tiny. I asked her if she had any plans to record an album. No. Any plans to return to the UK soon. No. The rest is history.

I just heard another great female singer here who can go far. Sing closer to the mic wayslinn & practice lots.
