Love how no matter the song the Bunnies make the live versions different from the records by throwing in breaks or new lines from other songs (i.e., "Broke My Neck"--B side of some single my old fart brain cannot recollect).
Saw this lot live in the 80s - Kilburn, think it's the National Ballroom. Their albums then were great, but live they were just f**king magnificent. McCulloch for Pope.
Saw them in 84 and 85 in No. CA. Both great shows but 84 was the better of the 2. Played my vinyl and cassette of these guys into oblivion. After all these years the music still holds up. Can't say that of everything I listened to back in the day. Thought about maybe catching a show now for old times sake but don't know that it would be the same. Time has passed and Pete is gone (RIP) .
@corpodeek man this is starting to annoy me. it would be easier to say bunnymen ripped off joy division, even though i dont really think that. ive seen people commenting saying coldplay ripped bunnymen off too. why can't you just like this band and shut the fuck up about who's copying who?? oh and echo and the bunnymen ARE huge, they just have more of a cult following
If you like this then you will like the band I manage, The Ran-Tan Waltz.. Hyped by NME, major support slots last/this year, 2 big London shows coming up in April. New EP released on Philophobia Records etc... Vids on the youtube profile x
One of the true bands that defined what was the 80s. I used to see them every chance I got. One of the best shows, in my opinion, was at the Hollywood Palladium with Dramarama, and Gene Loves Jezebel. I met a young lady and was following her back to her place and damn I got pulled over and arrested for DUI. Great show fucked up night. Oh well such is life....only sometimes. No regrets only great memories. I'm glad to hear that so many young people today are still discovring the music.
This video makes me wish I could have been one of those fangirls in the audience. Unfortunately, I was only a twinkle in my parents' eyes at this point.
ian is absolutely amazing. this is one of my favorites. too bad i am too young to have experienced them during their early days. do have the opportunity to see them in 2 weeks tho!
Hey listen, just seeking a compass here. I have been a fan of Joy Division since the early 80's (After Ian's death unfortunately). I'm really liking Echo and the B-Men.
Can some of you folks maybe come up with some other bands I may be interested in? Thanks.
@jikiboy fisrt time i heard this i was in the back of a van tripping on mushrooms on the way to a little village that would have been better off without us.
this song left an impression :) it was totally different from the usual charts piss top 20.
@Giantcrabb Re "revisiting youth tonight via tube"...you too, huh? I never saw Echo in concert. I live in the US and don't know if they ever played here. But I bought the "Rescue" import single and played it to death. Even today, this astonishingly beautiful song is one of my all-time favorites.
@jikiboy Absolutely agree ! Loved them - I was in one of their videos - as was a glam rock n roll girl then - brilliant drummer - and such a different and refreshing style - I used to play their music plus teardrop explode to my friend Mark who is the drummer in Big Country as Markie was traditionally a jazz drummer - who taught himself the "style" as he would say of the 802s !! - great days of sharing a band house in London - we all dressed in kamo ! so cute !
Magic! Can anyone out there tell me who the other fellas are that joined them for this number? Are they the techs or was this some of a support band? Maybe The Young Gods or Spear of Destiny at a stab in the dark.
The video release with bits of tours, Crystal Day and this gig at the end, Going Up, All That Jazz from the Albert but different version of Rescue where the additional guitarist does a great job! At the build up to the chorus at "is it the blues im singin.." Who is this guitarist!?
Are you sure?Ian is the sexiest man in the world not only for his beauty but he has something magical...even if every bunnymen was and is magical in some way :)
