pffff... I don't know why people are overreacting. I'm French, and never had any problem at the beach. The CRS lifeguards are perfectly trained. And if you think that in your country, all lifeguards are doing the same job all day, you're wrong. Some of them might even pick up your bins in winter, and you wouldn't know about it, but you still trust them when you're at the beach.

So why making such a fuss. At least, they guarantee security and peace....I can't ask for more ^^

If you are always doing riot work that will effect you in a bad way. Can be good to switch over to other duty's to cool down from the not so nice work in the suburbs of Paris.

Well sometimes it takes some enforcing to save a life, just because some dumb-ass idiot doesn't realize what is he/she going in...She doesn't think she far away from the shore - of course she probably has no idea that the rip behind her is going to suck her out in the sea in an instant... People are stupid and being a lifeguard is pain in the ass-you are trying to save someone from his/her own stupidity...I love the job,but people should realize that we are not there to be heroes,but to prevent!
