Overall, this was a better album than Alison Hell. I think Jeff put more effort into song composition rather than just a bunch of ten minute songs made from a bunch of riffs that have nothing to do with each other.

Bought an annihilator tape way back when, I thought "with a name like 'annihilator', they have to be pretty heavy stuff". I was genuinely surprised at just how lame they were, cheap generic flavorless poser metal. If I recall right I couldn't even give the tape away. I mean, I am glad some people choose this stuff over some of the other crap that is popular today but it is still like eating plain rice without anything else, flavorless and a bit embarrassing.

"Denied" and "Epic of War" off Carnival Diablos are worth buying th CD in the first place. Especially the Iron Maiden part in the middle of "Epic of war". It sounds more like Maiden than Maiden.

I think that Dave is taking Annihilator down a wrong path of this "new metal" thing which is becoming a hype, I wont say that I didnt like any of his singing because in fact my favorite Annihilator album is Schizo Delux, but he is taking them away from the so called roots of the band which is the reason that I listen to them. Altough Dave has a good vocal range he somehow always makes it sound not as it should be.

The nu metal screams are not mu cup of tea as well, but then again, I prefer a stable vocalist and good second guitarist aside of Jeff :) From *that* perspective Dave is perfect :) Saw them last year live, best show in my LIFE and I *never* scream someone's name for 10 minutes after they have finished. But this time I was chanting 'Jeff Water' to the top of my lungs :) The chemistry between Padden and Jeff was there, so I think that's what counts :)
