  • if there is one thing in america that aint as bad as some wants to think, its unemployment. here in Sweden where i live the norm currently is between 15-25% which is horrible, and this aint just because its highly educated jobs, its because we have so few factories and uneducated work places, me being one of the uneducated people, atleast in any kind of boring straight laced suit education, did go to collage to study game design. Factories are the life blood of countries.

  • The republichristian party of America is an episiotomy gone wrong. Now it is just an open wound causing the rest of the body unbelievable pain and embarrassment.

We need a obstetrician to get in there, clean it out, and sew it up.

    Ron Paul 2012

  • @kingachybraky ron paulbots are incredibly boring and stupid.

  • @kingachybraky ron paul is a proven racist :P tho i do like his words on most things, they are probably just words, better then the rest as a bet but who knows until its too late

  • @5heneverlies Well, seeing as how I don't live in your backwards-ass country, I really could give a fuck about who gets elected. But facts are facts.

  • Most of those spike jobs were TEMP or Seasonal. We'll see the truth of it after the UE states roll in after January of 2012. In either case at this Pres. Oboma has TRIED to do something about it while the Repubs, Neo-Cons & Tea Baggers have done NOTHING but BLOCK every attempt made by this President or the Dems to assist with legislation. Before 2010 in was the Repubs in the Senate "Filibustering" now its just a "GOP LEAD - DO NOTHING CONGRESS". This is what you voted for in 2010 America lol.

  • eccl 5:10 "A mere lover of silver will not be satified with mere silver, neither any lover of wealth with income. " notice politicians often want more influence than they deserve. perfect examples of what this scipture says.

  • the young fags

  • @TheCrayonMan529 very creative my friend, did u go back to high school to figure that out???

  • @ialrai indeed i did

  • Fuck the Democrats... Sell-outs... Fuck the Republicans even harder! I refuse to vote for either anymore... I'll waste my vote on a third party and hope the rest of America wakes up. Why vote for the "lesser of two evils" when they are both bought by the same people... There is no lesser, just how fast you're willing to get fucked... Well speed doesn't matter to me... I'm tired of being fucked

  • I am wishing back the days when Cenk did some SUBSTANTIAL economic macro-analysis. This show has become more and more of a 'clown' show; sorry Chenk. Proposals: discussion of relation between money printing of EU Central banks and money outflow out of these countries (creating a vicious circle); necessities of international regullations with regards to stock market activity and update on that; background of a 'chinese housing bubble' if existing; gold standard and debt (Bretton Woods) etc.

  • Ummmmm,those were holiday jobs

In 3 or 4 months the unemployment number is going to sky rocket.

  • awesome! I think President Obama should focus on jobs once he elected to office so the other side have nothing on him xD

i hope the unemployment would drop to 8% before the election but this is the most exciting years and i got my vote on president Obama.

  • they fail to mention the average pay rate went down big time

  • @dalm8n7 Actually it didnt

  • Samuel Clemens also stated: "There are lies, damned lies, and then there is statistics!"

  • Numbers don't lie...but liars use numbers.

  • lies, lies, lies! and more lies! its a joke the true numbers are well over 15%..just more shady math by the good ol boys.

  • I seriously doubt too many people are even listening to Santorum at this point...

  • Obama is the biggest Lobbyist-lover over any of the Republican candidates!!! He broke his promises of not having any lobbyists in his administration, but low-and-behold, over half of his staff are former lobbyists and a lot are tied directly to GOLDMAN SACHS!!! This President is a DICTATOR by his own admission! If you want to save this country, then vote against Obama and vote RON PAUL 2012!!!!!

  • @TriggerJunkie If you really want change in gov't you are focusing on the wrong problem. Congress, 535 people between both houses, have a much bigger hand in the problems than any president. Vote for whomever you like, it wont change much without changing Congress as well. I think it was Twain that said, "Politicians should be changed like diapers, often and usually for the same reason."

  • @savageecho. I agree with you 100%. Both the House and Senate have shown deriliction to duty in not upholding their sworn oathes to protect the Constitution. But, the key figure is the President who signs-off on the bills that come from Congress. Also, the Pres. uses Executive Orders (also unConstitutional) to bypass Congress. The Congress should have impeached G.W.Bush and most certainly should impeach B.H.Obama for his MANY violations to US Law. Obama is a NWO hitman set to destroy the USA

  • @TriggerJunkie ha, "NWO hitman..." Executive orders are not really "unconstitutional" as the president is supped to have powers for checks and balances. Check out Youngstown Sheet and Tube S.Ct. case for presidential powers that are supported, or not, by the Constitution.

  • RON PAUL 2012!!! The only person for the office of President is Dr. Ron Paul! He's the one who's been telling us that both the Democrats and Republicans in Congress are at fault! Obama is a much worse disaster than G.W.Bush. Obama is killing America. He has no respect for the US Constitution and states that he doesn't need Congress to go to war, make recess appointments, or print money out of thin air! Fuck TYT!

  • Obama is a Dictator! Congress, G.W.Bush, and most of all OBAMA are at fault for our failed economy! TYT are liars saying that Obama is creating jobs. Obama is a fascist. Obama works for the NWO. Fuck Obama. Fuck TYT!!!

  • HAHAHAHAH Cenk just said "The entire Republican party's a joke." WIN!

  • Comment removed

  • @EverybodyStalfos Funny thing is the Democratic Party is the same and I'm a liberal saying this. I think GW put it best "However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion."

  • 200,000 jobs boost for December ? Extra temp staff being taken on for Christmas. Thats all.

  • @mootant Greenspan is a monetarist, just like Friedman. he's as libertarian as anyone else who holds the banner, men like Frideman and Greenspan are simply not idealist like the majority of voting libertarians. they under stand that we live in a democratic-republic and that by design it the nature of such politics is one of compromise. compromise for the libertarians has resided in moetarism, which has been the dominate economic philosophy since the 70's.

  • @TheEvolver311 and that ain't working out too well.

  • @ShatterNWO libertarians have been in charge of the fed since the 70's, we have been implimenting austrian economic idea's and yeah they have failed us.

the average libertarian will spout off about returning to the gold standard etc.. with no discussion beyond it. they just like to make neo-anarchist statements and then act like they are the most logical thing ever said.

  • @TheEvolver311 True libertarians don't believe in the fed, they don't believe the gov't should control interest rates and the issuance of currency. Friedman and especially Greenspan were sell outs of the ideology. The Austrians have continually warned us about the actions of the fed over the last 40 years.

  • Friedman and Greenspan are just not ideologes, libertarians come off like communist who attempt to defend Marx against Stalin etc... libertarians have been in charge of the fed for more than 3 decades, the failed policey of the fed has been failed libertarian ideas, and like communist disowning Stalin and Mao you want to pretend like they don't belong in the same sentence.

supply side economics , horse and sparrow economics whichever label you want is a failed libertarian concept

  • @TheEvolver311

Bankers are the ultimate enemy of Libertarians though

as Bankers want government to get bigger so they can fund Government debt & wars.

  • @GermansMustDie wow, that is likely the most anti-capitalist statement i've ever read a person claiming libertarianism as a philosophical grounding post.

  • @TheEvolver311 So I guess all of those progressive policies you want haven't worked because Obama and Clinton call themselves progressives. See how that works. Ppl pose as something their not and then tear down the ideology when it fails, even if the policies had nothing to do with the ideology. Libertarians don't believe the gov't should be controlling interest rates and currency.

  • @ShatterNWO when does Obama go around saying he is a progressive? clinton i assume you mean bill, who of course isn't a progressive but is a "third way" neo-liberal. neither man is a progressive and neither has claimed that position.

on the other hand Greenspan was personal friends with ideological guru Ayn Rand, the Cato institute aswell as the ARI backed greenspan etc..

the reality is we have lived under a stronger influence from the right for over 30yrs,

  • @TheEvolver311 Progressives hailed him as progressive in the beginning, the point is that for the last 100 years the United States has moved further and further away from a free market. It doesn't matter what Reagan or Clinton called themselves, but what their actions were, and gov't has grown under every president whether right or left. Austrian ideology has not been in play at the FED, only ppl who claimed to believe in it.

  • @ShatterNWO the US has always had state intervention in the market. the notion that we have moved away from L/F markets is rediculious, 100yrs ago the US engaged in a level of protectionism that could never pass today. Austrian economics has flawed axioms such as individuals acting rationally in the market, this is easly shown to be untrue. lots of other bad axioms.

austrian ideology is in full play in a little place called Somalia, no functioning gov should be any libertarians dream.

  • @ShatterNWO what progressives hailed him as progressive? i would agree that many progressives said he was a more progressive canidant than McCain.

  • @TheEvolver311 It doesn't even matter. The point is that libertarian policies have not been in place no matter what party is in charge and what rhetoric they use. Libertarians have been calling for the abolishment of the fed, and you say that libertarians have been getting their way because ppl who called themselves libertarians ran the thing they wanted abolished. Greenspan and Friedman were sellouts of their ideology, not practicers of it.

  • @ShatterNWO again you come off like a communist who cries about lenin/stalin not being "real" communist and selling out the ideology.

libertarian policies have been in action in some places like Somalia, look and see how individuals behave when they are left to their own self interests and rational presuits. cartels and gangsters dominate the average person is victimized.

  • @TheEvolver311 Somalia has seen more economic progress than they saw under their now collapsed central gov't. Gangsters run gov'ts and set up cartels with the licensing and regulation.

  • @ShatterNWO the only "economic progress" Somalia has had is that now multinational corporations can explot $1 a day labor. the lack of a powerfull enough central gov has simply put the US in the position of enforcing against gansters/pirates who interfer with US business assets. so now we line the pokets of a few warlords intstead of the central gov.

it is brutely violent, with strong man rule. literacy is vanishing. more than 75% of the country cannot get clean water, famines.

  • @TheEvolver311 I wasn't suggesting that it was a paradise, but their former central gov't was one of the most tyrannical on the planet, still not a utopia, but better off than it was.

  • actually prior to its military actions against ethiopia during the cold war, the state of Somalia was realitively much more peacefull and prosperous than the rest of africa. it wasn't untill near the 90's after a long war fighting for our interests against the interests of the USSR that the gov began to devolve into a unbearable state and the citizens did the right thing and overthrew it.

more people have died from starvation aswell as curable/preventable or gun violence since its collapse

  • @TheEvolver311 Exports have quintupled, infant mortality is dow and life expectancy and literacy are up.

  • Somalia is ranked near last on the GPI only falling between Iraq and Afghanistan.

somilian exports dont even equal the GDP gained from remittance

the few positive numbers regarding health, are related to international aide not internal medical developments. infant mortality etc.. went up slightly due to increased international welfare.

somalia has the lowest literacy rates worldwide, its fallen due to the practice of bombing schools done by private milita's as a means to gain recruits

  • @TheEvolver311 It's GPI was already low before the collapse of the central gov't. GDP numbers can be misleading especially in a country that was using 90% of it's tax revenues on military spending. Unless you consider building murder machines real production. Most of the international "aide" has been spent on counter intelligence programs and trade sanctions, which explains much of the inner conflict in Somalia. But the standard of living and access to modern technology has greatly improved.

  • @ShatterNWO no the majority of the aide has been given to the population, they have had a issue with private militia's stealing the supplies.

somalia wasn't near the bottom of the GPI even in the 80's when it was being invaded by USSR backed Ethiopia.

im not defending the gov that was toppled simply pointing out the fact that the current libertarian style gov is a failure aswell. Somalia hasn't made a gain that isn't connected to international welfare or explotation of -$1 a day labor

  • @TheEvolver311 "Somalia hasn't made a gain that isn't connected to international welfare." Really?

  • @TheEvolver311 Since the UN is doing all of this great work, shouldn't this be a story of how well global governance works rather than an indictment of anarchy, especially since it's not really anarchy if all the progress in the society is being made by a global governing body.

  • @ShatterNWO the gains that somalia has made in some area's would i think be better if a properly funded liberal democratic republic was operating.

  • Congrats for the temp victory.

Too bad the holidays are now over.

Waitin to see January's #'s shoot back up.

Pain killers do not heal the wound.

  • People need to realize that the republican leadership know that job loss and home foreclosures disrupts lives enough for them to consider using peoples misfortunes as leverage against this administration claiming credit for any progress made in correcting bush era policies that created this mess. They also know that residency requirement issues makes voting a little more complicated for the poor and displaced. They’ll keep the country down just to ensure their chance to take back the White House

  • It doesn't matter. Obama is a spineless piece of shit and the Republicans candidate are even worse. The American people are screwed by Managed Democracy.

  • @237Michael better create jobs then do nothing!

  • Yes, employment rates are seasonally adjusted. However, looking back at the December 2010 numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, unemployment then only dropped to 9.4%. So, what we're seeing now IS significant.

    bls . gov/opub/ted/2011/ted_20110111.htm

  • NEWSFLASH: Despite good jobs report, White House warns a flood of laid-off campaign workers from failed republican candidates may cause spikes.

  • @rocky19421 Who'd be stupid enough to give them any other jobs than campaigning for Republicans?

  • Seen it coming all along, and actually commented on it... That is, Cenk will slag Obama during the first few years in office, if only to burnish his reputation as an anti establisment political talk show host. After all, he's got a entertainment show to do, and when there's no controversy, well, why not manufacture it? Because media thrives on conflict and controversy. But when time comes for the election, then he'll go back to supporting the position that he's supposed to support.

  • Christmas jobs. How many will still exist come February?

  • @TheTruePooka The numbers are seasonally adjusted.

  • @TheTruePooka If earning beat estimates it won't matter stocks will still rally.

  • @TheTruePooka Are you suggesting to get short the end of this month?

  • Just read the detailed report, most of those are in food service/hospitality, healthcare, and durable goods manufacturing....In other words, if you're a college student: save yourself the cost of getting a degree for a white collar decent/high paying job and move out of the US. Sad.

  • Uh, Cenk, I think you missed something significant in the first minute of this clip: The employment numbers for December are ALWAYS laced with caveats. December is peak temp/seasonal hiring season for a number of industries: retail, food service, hospitality, travel.

  • That's good news, though I want to know what kind of jobs are those? Is there a breakdown by industry? It's good we have 3M new jobs, but if they're all low-paying dead-end retail/unskilled labor...etc, then the US economy is becoming more and more like a third world country's economy.

  • Comment removed

  • how would you define jobs and economy to god??

  • Yeah, more than likely there's more part time jobs vs. full time jobs. Why? Well the tax breaks for new hires doesn't pertain to full time jobs only, it also gives equal employer tax breaks for part time jobs. The result is that employers are hiring as many part timers as they can because the tax break is much bigger. Why hire 2 people when you can hire 4-5 and get a bigger tax cut, lol. Screwed once again!

  • It's becuase it's winter..

  • Almost all minimum wage jobs in the service sector, one step closer to the third world.

  • @aaroncalgary You know, I kind of agree, that's what I'm suspicious about! is there a breakdown of those jobs by industry? If they're all service sector, then yeah, we're slowly transforming into a third world country!

  • 42,000 of those jobs are proven to be rubbish; it is an anual glitch!!. Cenk is beginning to look like a political lobbyist.

  • Exacly how did Obama create 3 million jobs? Did he wave a wand? Pour jobs out of a bigs "Jobs Bottle?" And if he created 3 million jobs, why did he stop there? We need lots more than that! If he can conjure up jobs, why didn't he conjure up 20 million jobs? Answer: because politicians don't create jobs--never have, never will.

  • @jimtrueblue99 Because your dumbass probably voted in some retard that veto everything Obama proposed.

  • Its december job creation it happens every year around the holidays. Its companies employing part time seasonal help it will drop off after a month :P It happens every year the same since the beginning of corporate slavery haha

  • And they argued and still they did not wake up, and the Empire fell, like all those before it.

  • JOBS

  • I wonder how many of those 200,000 jobs were seasonal and It's almost like everyone I know is getting there hours cut.

  • Republicans are a really bad joke!

  • If you read the report it shows almost half of the 200,000 jobs added were in retail, transportation & warehousing and leisure & hospitality industries. It states that seasonal hiring was particularly strong in December. This is because of the Christmas busy season, of course. These were crumby part-time jobs to help move more crap around and now that the season is over, all those jobs will vanish as soon as possible. My store alone has already let go 17 seasonal employees. There's a caveat.

  • @HungryNomadicLion There have been 22 straight months of private sector job growth. Not all of those months of increased job creation could have been seasonal. I'm sick of seeing our job jobs numbers improving and people make up excuses when the obvious reason the economy is getting better is the stimulus package. There is a direct correlation between the stimulus and the improving jobs numbers.

  • @Westsalvation0052 at what point in my comment did I mention 22 straight months of growth? When did I say all that was seasonal? When did I make excuses for improving job numbers? When did I say anything about the stimulus package? Please learn to read and while you are at it, learn how to think. I commented on the specific report the video was about, I read the actual report and found caveats that Cenk said were not really there.

  • we arent in debt people

  • @xStockxLossx Are you being facetious?

  • Comment removed

  • What's with all the dislikes?

People dislike the unemployment rate falling?

Do we like people being unemployed?

    This doesn't make any sense!

  • I'm happy for you.. I'm British, and we elected a right wing party to Government after the crash because.. if something goes wrong, blame the guy holding the bag at the time... fair enough...but our economy had been turned back round within a few months, but because of the new Government's austerity, unemployment is rocketing up and growth has stopped. As predicted. Every Republican President since Nixon has increased US debt and weakened the economy...don't go back there!!.. good luck friends..

  • neoliberalism and neoconservatism... two thoughts that shouldn't exist in the first place.

  • "Obama is making jobs."

Thats the thing though, he shouldnt be making jobs, he should be RETURNING jobs, Bush allowed Big companies to find cheap in the east with MY job. Our jobs are in China! Mines included, i am one of the people who are now employed again with a very nice tech job. But we could be doing A LOT better if Obama put regulations on Big Business.

  • Reagan!!! He's the very one that got this mess started were in today.

What needs to be done is repeal that "THING" called "ARTICLE OF INCORPORATION".

Corporations should NEVER HAVE the same rights as a human being.

  • Out in Silicon Valley that's all your going to see is mass quantities of these foreign workers.

Think I'm kidding, I'm not. You can drive past most any corporat building out here and you will see it all for yourself...Visa worker after Visa worker all coming and going. If we really want to bring back American jobs THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. Pull the plug on these H1b & L1 Visa programs these corporations are using to send our skilled American engineers off to collect unemployment.

  • i think this is some good news for the new year. I start work again after a year of unemployment tuesday! MONEY FOR SCHOOL BITCHES :D

  • This seems pretty convenient.

  • Maybe what they should include is, who exactly is getting these so-called jobs?

Sure seems to me it's mostly these characters with H1b Visa's. Tell the truth, American's are on the short end of the stick when it comes to employment today.

  • good to see current tv towing the party line

  • Uh oh...Good things happening. Time for Republicans to be negative and somehow give credit to Reagan!!!!!

    #Obama2012

  • unemployment in the south east is still very bad...

  • It ain't remotely true

  • the participation rate is the lowest it has been in decades, that is why the unemployment rate in the us is as low as it is.

  • I find the "flag" waving in the background distracting.

  • @cagedtigersteve just listen. don't watch.

  • How many jobs have republicans created? They promised and said lower taxes would create jobs. The republicans promised jobs but Obama is responsible for the increased job creation. Obama is a train wreck but he will get reelected with news like this.

  • @FoxNewzLies How is he a train wreck if he is responsible for the increases in job creation? He must be doing something right if he has 22 straight months of private sector job growth.

  • @Westsalvation0052 Wars, Patriot act continuing etc.....

  • @FoxNewzLies The war in Iraq is over and were drawing down the war in Afghanistan. I'm not saying Obama has been perfect, but the good things he has done far outnumber his bad decisions.

  • @FoxNewzLies

200,000 new jobs. Right when the Stimulus runs out.

not picking sides just making a point

  • @Salvysahagun Well and they don't say what types of jobs and pay included. I understand the translations. All I know is that something gets accomplished is ok for now. 200,000 is a low ball number for what we really need here.

  • @ljwoolley1

As for you, well, I'm sorry you're having a hard time of it, but, your generation had much more opportunity compared with your grandkids. Unfortunately, babyboomers created the world we live in now. AND they will continue to dictate the world we live in for a lot longer still.

    -

Go to Flint MI if you want to know how the story ends....

  • If more jobs are created because many have to work fewer hours, leading to people sliding into poverty, a lot of misery will result. On the other hand, perhaps these innocent hard-working people will finally get the time they need to figure out what is happening to them instead of working over time. People are confused, angry and know something is wrong but not what that thing is. Well, basically, the major corporations have increased there influence the last 40 years, and unions have lost.

  • GREEN PARTY!

  • @idontfkinknow1234 He was telling everyone to vote uncommitted in Iowa but yes most likely Cenk will vote for Obama in the election if it's him vs Romney or Santorum or Gingrich. That's politics sadly we don't vote on the best candidate we vote against the worst candidate.

  • in the beginning i bought that you are imperial. but you are clearly supporting obama. why don't you just admit it ? it will make you more trustworthy.

  • These numbers are cooked.

TONS of folks have given up looking for work. They're out digging for scrap metal/whatever. These numbers don't reflect that reality.

I can tell you this, the domestic oil patch is gearing up for Zero's fall, no doubt. We took a HUGE investment capital hit, both from the real estate debacle, and folks who remembered Jimmy Carter and his insane Windfall Profits Tax, that nearly destroyed our oil/gas industry.

We're coming back, and we're going to put America to work

  • @MachOverspeedsPlace Like you have been up and down your country counting job numbers. Give me a break. Just accept that Obama is finally turning this mess around for you.

  • @zebbedi Being in the oil and gas business gives one an insight on the investment climate, and by extension, job creation, not available to the average person.

When the economy sucks, we don't have investors beating our doors down wanting to drill wells. Like now, for instance.

When the economy rocks, people are lined up to invest in wells. Like before the govt induced real estate debacle.

Zero is holding us back. Instead of importing Arab oil, we should be exporting NatGas to China.

  • @MachOverspeedsPlace As an investor I too have an insight into the investment climate. I agree with what you have said. Of course when the financial markets are lending less and people are fearful for the future then gross investment is going to decline in all sectors.

I'm struggling though, to understand how your point relates to what we were talking about.

  • @zebbedi Well, it's simple. When the economy is producing jobs, we're drilling wells...There is a clear correllation.

Right now, the domestic oil/gas industry is in the doldrums. And here's the kicker...Production has remained flat, but price has climbed back up to pre real estate debacle levels, due 100% to the devaluation of our money (inflation).

The Iranian situation has pushed prices up a little, but today's $3.50 gasoline is mostly due to inflation, not demand, like in 2007.

  • @MachOverspeedsPlace

How are oil prices today not based on demand?

China every day is using significant oil for cars & industry.

how does this not have an impact in raising oil prices?

overpopulation is causing alot of demand problems.

as voerpopulation just causes an increase demand for everything.

it raises renewable resource prices too because even farmers have to expand their farms & spend money to do so

in order to produce more food.

    thus raising prices.

  • @GermansMustDie You misunderstand..

Back in 08 we were pumping every drop we could at $140.00 +/bbl.

Then the real estate bubble burst, and the economy tanked. West Texas Intermediate got down to around $60/bbl, because demand fell WAY off.

Nowadays the price is hovering aound $100, but we aren't pumping any more oil/gas from our wells, which we would love to do, but the demand to open the valves, just ain't there.

Ergo, the price increase is due to inflation.

  • @GermansMustDie Don't feel bad.

Unless you were born and raised in oil patch (like me), or have worked extensively in the business (like me), or own Mineral Rights and/or invest in oil/gas drilling projects (again, like me), then like most folks, you probably don't have the first clue as to how the oil/gas biz ACTUALLY works. It's nothing like the media would have you believe. At all.

Suffice it to say that the talking heads are among those that do not.

    Neither does Zero.

  • Obama created 3 Milion jobs since 2010. Fact.

  • @daguzify Obama didn't "create" any jobs. Who the fuck did he hire for the company he doesn't own?

The notion that any Prez creates jobs is infantile.

A Prez may influence the conditions under which jobs are in fact created, or cut, by others, but other than Federal employees/military, doesn't have much individual power in that regard.

    As per design.

So, both sides need to STFU about Presidents creating jobs. What idiocy?

Intelligent folks are sick of all the background noise.

  • @daguzify and destroyed millions of more in the process

  • I think the audio was just looping

VOTE DEMOCRAT VOTE DEMOCRAT VOTE DEMOCRAT

ya...I'm sure some people believe the federal governments bogus unemployment numbers...

  • @semperFi4ever100 "There is empirical evidence."

Are you kidding me? Austrian economists specifically reject empirical evidence, because they claim economics deals with human behavior that's too complex.

  • @BrotherAlpha The fact that they say you can't take one specific piece of evidence, say a poll number, and assume that you'll obtain the same result under the same circumstances, because you can't predict human behavior, doesn't mean that you can't analyze successes of the theory a posteriori.

  • @semperFi4ever100 They reject empirical evidence. Therefore, you can't claim empirical evidence backs them up.

You can't say, "They looked at the empirical evidence and made a prediction that there would be a crash in 2000." Because they say you can't make a prediction like that based on the evidence.

By the way, many Keynesian economists made that prediction. I made that prediction.

  • @BrotherAlpha But if you interpret their rejection of evidence that way, all of Austrian economic theory can never be proved or disproved. What if, when they say they reject the empiric method, they really just mean logical consistency of a theory is more important than evaluating statistical evidence? That's at least is how I understand their issues with experiments and analyzing preexisting data.

  • well, more people are employed at Christmas, interesting to see what will happen in January

  • THEY DONT EVEN COUNT PEOPLE THAT ARE UNEMPLOYED OVER 6 MONTHS... WHEN YOU COUNT THAT, UMEMPLOYMENT IS MORE LIKE 25%-30%no fucking way in hell it is only 8%.

  • not trying to be a downer but could this percentage be at this point cause people have given up looking for jobs. I mean I think this falls into the "stop trying" statistics. The "stop trying" statistics may be higher than this. How many people have simply just given up? Who knows its just a new season in the corporate world were many jobs can simply be seasonal. A new season means that older people get laid off and new people come. I have friends that over that past year has had several jobs.

  • @XxbufferingsxksxX The data presented is not the unemployment rate. The unemployment rate is expected to increase or stay high coming out of a recession since people are more optimistic about employment and start looking again.

  • @XxbufferingsxksxX the statistics is actually close to accurate.

  • Cenk, ipskay ethay odgay essblay.

  • what bullshit..

  • What makes jobs...hmmm...PROBLEMS!

  • More like 200,000 problems

  • just break down the size of the stimulus with the number of jobs ( we dont even know if they will last , i suspect they vanish right after the elections! ), Yeah that's a 120 000 dollars tax payer dollars spend per 'new jobs' maybe we should just have just give the money no ?

Ron paul is the only one whois not insane in this country. they all spend the money like crazy and go brag about some ridicule achievement ? come on!!!!!

  • What will all of your conservative friends say about this?

  • Oh oh! The economy is looking better and there are more jobs! What will the Republicans do to stop these disturbing trends?

  • @rocky19421 start shooting poor people...? Think about it fat white republicans are running out of food... soon they will hunt the greatest prey of all; the poor person... and then eat them! Ummmmm poor people ... uuuggghhh!

  • @rocky19421 They will get into power because most americans are stupid and theyll vote the republicans in next election

  • @rocky19421 hehe *thumbs up *

  • all republixans except RON PAUL asshole

  • @iasfl H Yeah!!! They are all assholes except Ron Paul...He is, by contrast, a shithead!!!!

  • Unemployment isn't the only problem, it's underemployment, a lot of professionals with degrees and licenses working hourly entry level jobs as a reshuffle in the recession. Not to mention those numbers ignore those who have gave up looking for jobs due to burnout. Send a message to Congress that funds 60% of the budget to warfare, don't pay taxes. There's no money to send people to prison. Work for cash only. The fat cats in Washington need to go on a diet. Rich people don't pay taxes.

  • so it went from 22% + to 8.5% hmm yeah I don't quite think so.

  • The sheer lunacy of the right is almost too much for the human mind to bear. Before, they claimed Obama didn't create, and in fact lost, jobs. Now that it's found out they were wrong as shit, they are now complaining that these specific jobs won't help. C'mon now..........

  • Cmon Jenk...

Those are seasonal jobs, the jobs we ARE getting are LOW QUALITY jobs ... IE: part-time, service sector, no benefits. These jobs produce very little and the U3 numbers of 200,000 are obviously not something you can take at face value.

We are also heading into the next recession soon because of the nature of the 6-10 year cycle...we just started clawing our way out of recession and there is a mudslide barreling down on us, with CB interest rates of .0006-0.25% and Europe on fire.

  • lol jobs

low payed federal jobs mostly payed trillions by trillions

what is killing this economy is the central bank system. your federal reserve.

if you cant understand an unlimited growth of debt is killing this economy. do you wonder why any country has to pay a private bank(s) for getting his own money? WHY? americans dollars are now worthless. look at china and japan russia with iran they all trade way more marchandise in non US/Euro currency. why ?because of the FED printing like crazy

  • Seasonal Employment. we will lose 120k jobs next month

  • OBAMA 2012!!

  • Bush lost 13 million jobs? Ha! And they blame illegals for it. LISTEN! If we work as hard as they do without complaining they wouldn't be a need for them remember that!
