Haven't Heard this rendition of this great Christmas Hymn in a long time..Pastor E.C. Copeland Union Second Baptist Church River Rouge,MI you are missed...Rev. McCrary you are missed
What style of gospel is this? I don't really hear it anymore and I'd at least like to know the correct name should I seek a music instructor to teach. Also is it possible to make a guitar sing like they are making those piano/organ sing?
@darkside1924 Its called "old school" or "contemporary" gospel music!! This is the foundation of gospel music, and more if it is needed in these times we live in!!!!!
I'm watching this and am so excited to be one day going to heaven to know that all these Great and Mighty Men and Women of God are gonna be there singing just like Ms. Debbie Austin as well as to hear Preston on that Organ
Thank you for posting all of these videos! They are such a blessing. I just wish everyone could hear these anointed singers, and know the One who blessed them with such talent. Jesus is the Light of the world!
I love this song....as I listen to all of these songs, memories of my home church flood in. Thanks sooo much Dr Rogers for posting this. It has truly been a blessing...
Been singing this song all day to myself, didn't think I would find it on here but Praise God I did, truly a blessing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And then to see all the great men and women of Gospel Music like Chicago's own the Great Dr. Charles G. Hayes, founder and pastor of Cosmopolitan Church of Prayer, truly, truly a blessing!
Just a cold feeling,me and my brother saw all great Gospel and Blues Women and Men Live, started in childhood just tears are rolli'on our cheeks teh call and recall just like Alex Bradford told us as child and she got the voice of Aretha just close your eyes Amen and tell it tell it just like it ois and call us out just call us out Goed Bless You Herman and Fred
I have to say thank you too Brother Rogers. I can't tell you how dismayed I was when I could no longer listen to these songs of faith. May God continue to bless and keep you.
@AZUREE100 My brother, it doesn't make a difference what our skin tone is or how we where bought up in our respected churches. I am a true believer, as a minister of music that what's from the heart will and does reach the heart. True praise is felt from within and a soul message to God, not and act or a song just being sung. You being touched means this song has done what it was mint to do. Thank you for your posting, it has touched me.
Thank you for posting this wonderful song. Its a very inspiring and soul-uplifting one! Praise be Jesus in you all guys! Jesus the light of the world!
Ive always loved this song!!! My 1st time hearing her sing it like this though!!! My Lord! Be Blessed! Ive listened to this so fr 3 times back to back!
I love this song oh so much! I was literally singing it over & over again last week not knowing all the words to it...something in my spirit just kept telling me to sing it so that's what i did.haha
@prendiegirl916 Walk in the light, beautiful light, Come where the dew drops of mercy are bright; Shine all around us by day and by night, Jesus, the Light of the world.
Hark the harold angels sing, Jesus the Light of the world; Glory to the newborn King, Jesus the Light of the world. Let us, Walk in the Light ...
this sound like the old Mt.Ararat Baptist Church in Jacksonville,Fla.the soprona sing, the alto bellow, the tenor rocked, the baritone, bass bear down! tight black harmony in it's fullness. One guy there song a full soprono, this lady name Mr. E.M.Thomas,sound identicial to the great Clara Ward, tell me what has happen to the sound, the spirit, of the black church choir's today. the soprona sound like Cat,s it's all fashion today, No holy ghost.
Great question! Black people not have more Jesus than you do or anyone else for that matter. Your observation of the very charismatic style of praise, worship, and so is very much so a part of our history as a race of people. It can be traced back to before slavery and is well documented throughout the course of our existence today.
@masorlie what we have is more soulfulness and outward emotion its part of our chemistry I know some white brothers and sisters that become very spiritual when praising the LORD. Ask GOD to give you a dose of it. Maybe you have not because you ask not.
My Church, First Church of Deliverance does a Candlelighting Service every Christmas to this song. The gentleman directiong this song is my mentor Dr. Ralph H. Goodpasteur Former Minister of music of the Historic First church of Deliverance choir from 1939 to 1996. To God bel the Glory.
The Black Church ain't church without a piano and the famous Hammond Organ/Leslie speaker! If a church has a good gospel pianist and organist (even without percussions or guitars) it can rock the house. Listen to the beginning of this video...you hear both...wow...that's called The Church.
The best singers in the world are almost never heard outside the black church. You have to appreciate that these folks refuse to sing secular even though they would blow every pop star off the map if they ever got a chance.
Thank God there is someone else who cares for the OLE School gospel singers who remain true in their song of praise. These are the songs that brought us through all of the hurt, heartbreaks, loses and temptations. May we continue to be blessed by their voices.
While listening to this song, my husband just called to inform me that our house could go into foreclosure, but we are walking in THE LIGHT...The dewdrops of mercy shine bright..Shine all around us by day and by night...JESUS, the light of the world will supply all my needs according to HIS riches in glory!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!! We will not lose our home, or our minds in the precious name of Jesus!!! Glory to GOD sing sista!!! We are blessed and highly favored of the LORD!!!!
I love old time gospel cause, if it wasn't for the old school gospel mama, gandmama, great grandmama would never have mouned and sang to helpthem get through
You haven't seen a candlelight service until you see one at First Church of Deliverance. They will WEAR YOU OUT. The first time I saw it I cried through the WHOLE THING.
branchwater7...don't give up hope...there are still some of us old school young people out here...i'm 39 and I live by the old time gospel. The new gospel is okay but for me...the old school makes me realize just how far we have come and the music had meaning and really made you sit back and think! So keep up the faith i'm sure there are many more of us out there!
it's seems so sad when i watch this that gospel music had to be overtaken by electronic trends. wish there was a whole generation of young singers and musicians in this amazing tradition. i know things change, but still.
Let not your heart be troubled there are many who prefer traditional gospel to this new stuff...it is alright but when the spirit needs to be fed it is this kind of music that speaks and feeds the soul....Hold on help is on the way! Your sister in Christ
