@mustangred I showed this to a bunch of other assholes in the last few days and they all think as I do: That it's either not a "real" ad (what company would want this kind of publicity?) or that the ad agency and Spike Jonez did the ultimate convince job on The Gap. But in the spirit of "even bad publicity is publicity", obviously the name "Gap" is on the/minds of that many more.

The ad is a great piece of entertainment. So kudos to The Gap for allowing this to exist even at their expense.

actually it wasn't... spike was busy filming where the wild things are, the video was co-directed by him but that part was directed by ty evans, who did that part on his own about 2 weeks before the premiere, after pretty much the whole video was already shot and edited. Read a whole interview about it with Ty.
