2 questions. What brand do you prefer to use when it comes to reels? 2nd what was the water temperature when does grouper came in? thanks!!

@Dmoney0064 We now use Wright & McGill Sabalos reels. This is a rare occurrence for grouper.  The water temp was around 80 degrees.

So for circle hooks you just reel?

Or do you pull a little bit and then reel?

I go for striped bass and catfish with circle hooks, so would it be different techniques for the different fish?

@akintomeatloaf With circle hooks, all you need to do is reel and come tight with your line. Do NOT set the hook or you will pull the hook from the fishes mouth.

@woo216 ...In my opinion..one of the rushes,and fun you can have..knowing that you are tricking a fish into biting and you have your line and pole between you and the fish...go with someone that fishes alot,so they can set you up on some big fish..IMO nothing beats setting the hook on a big fish no matter salt or fresh water..hope you can enjoy it sometime....

@woo216 not quite that easy if you dont know what you're doing. My #1 piece of advice is to learn how to operate a boat. Theres too many idiots that just buy a boat and assume that they know what they're doing just because they have the money to buy a boat. Its very dangerous when 1/2 the people on the water fall into that category and sometimes no matter how safe you yourself may be, the other guy who doesnt know what he's doing can get you killed. Be very careful and LEARN THE CORRECT WAY.
