  • You have to look to the form of others, cause you can't see all your own mistakes. The guy called 'animal' in the video, try to squat a bit deeper. (and the girls/guy on the left side) And as said in the video finish those thrusters ^^.

    But that are things to work on, right? You all nailed it, good work!, Keep on working :D

  • thanx for the free lesson...i triyed doing these pull ups, and i see what you are talking about, it gives me a full cardio workout, as for building arm and upper body strenght i find that my boys cheat when they swing there legs...thanx...keep pushing..

  • i've been doing crossfit for quite a while and i have to admit, his kipping pull-ups aren't how they should be.

  • @MrJohn434 i just started at this a few week back, but i think there are ways to make it harder and easier... if u just started u cant do this.. the women use those elastic to help them get up.. when they done that many times they will be able to do it without the elastic.. and i guess its why they swing,.. if its to easy, i bet some will use some extra weight on there feet.. just a guess.. as i said im just started;)

  • hmm, the fran i did was alot different..i guess u can make up a workout, add or subtract exercises and call it fran? i dont get it, but i like these workout and will continue with them, i lift weights in the morning and bike..then afternoon i do crossfit and swim..i love it..and ill 5k train as well..cross fit is good. Good stuff.

  • kipping pull ups... you should give them a try instead of criticizing about how inproper they are... quit being ignorant, I bet you these guys could do more regular pull ups then you can by just practicing kipping pull ups. The point of the kip is to put more muscles into work and not isolating the bicep/back like a regular pull up. I see that with these pullups these guys are working their core and explosiveness as well...

  • @fedexmol your argument doesn't make any sense. you are saying a person who does kipping pull ups can do more pull ups because they are not just isolating bicep and back but other muscles as well. A person who just does regular pull ups be able to do more because they are isolating it, making those muscles stronger allowing them to do more regular pull ups than a person who does kipping pull ups for the whole body?

  • @herBallist15 they are kipping pull up ... think explosiveness and cardio... cross does strick L pulls ups as well. And i read an artical where people who did kipping pull ups could do more pulls ups than people who did not... each of the pull ups have there palce......varity

  • @herBallist15. Look, Im not here to defend Crossfit, but those pullups are called "kipping" pullups. They are not supposed to be "strict form" pullups. Which is what most people are used to seeing. Although, I wish more Crossfitters would stop resorting to them for everything. it should be strict form more often.

  • @varsitycatcher08 Hey man theyre called butterfly pullups..I agree with doing '' normal'' non swinging pull ups but i guess thats how they all seem to do it in crossfit..When I do this workout i just do the normal pull ups..makes it a harder workout to be honest

  • @davidflck - It won't make it harder, it will only make it longer. Intensity is what is paramount. Intensity is all about how fast you can get a set amount of work done. Try it all you'll see what I mean.

  • @varsitycatcher08 - there are many types of pull-ups. Strict pull-ups are not even close to the hardest ones. Try L-pullups, chest-to-bar- pull-ups, or weighted pullups. The kipping pull-up is a greater expression of power because of the speed and will help to develop pull-up strength faster than a strict pull-up will. And FTR, the guys who can really knock-out kipping pullups will destroy you at all of the above.

  • The funniest part of this video is when the guys flop around doing a kip up and STILL don't get their chins above the bar!

  • Someones always got something to say about somebody else's choice of workout and some reason why its crap or not. Yeah there's always someone not squatting all the way down or not pulling all the way up on the pull up! Thing is, who care's least their not sitting on their fat asses all the time, least their doing a bit so stop worrying about everyone else's form and concentrate on your own!

I hate the crossfit guys that do that! not impressive at all and dangerous to everyone including yourself... and kipping pullups are a joke! they might make your core slightly stronger but the injuries they invite are worth the risk... thumbs up to the lady that did pullups with the strap! at least shes doing something benefical... plus i love how all the guys bitch out and the ladies rock it!   • @eyepanic the guy who created crossfit made this work out then named it after his girlfriend or ex girl friend. Thats what i was told haha. Yes that could be a puke bucket it happens like all sports.

  • @Cyc1on3 actually he named all the workouts with girl names after women he trained. then there's the hero workouts, named after soldiers, police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty.

  • A pull up is not an isloation exercise it is a compound exercise and even a standard pullup or machine pull down it is still compound. 2 or more joints moving.

    These pull ups will give an awesome explosive workout like all crossfit but yes the stress on the joints is absolutely crazy and the risk of injury is high, very high.

  • For all those uneducated people....A pull up is a isolated movement, one joint movement. A Kipping pullup is a muti joint movement and hits a lot more muscle groups then a pull up. Pull ups are great don't get it wrong but so are Kipping pull ups.

  • @jjray1214 and how much impact is it on your ACP and the rest of your shoulder, elbow, and wrist joints? Dont seem to hear anyone complaining about that with a real pull/chin up.

  • Ouch! Who owns this gym? Are they LV1 cert? Wow! Form is awful...Someone make corrections! Mechanics> Consistency> Intensity in that order. It doesn't matter what time they have if they are not doing it correctly or get hurt doing it wrong...Fix it! CrossFit is great if done right. Come on! Weight on the heels, chest up, crease of the hip below parallel, head through.

  • @Phi16180 they're not "crossfit pullups." they are kipping pullups and they're not useless. The speed and motion at which they are perform builds up the tendons and ligaments in the shoulder girdle and builds up fast-twitch fibers in the latissimus dorsi, trapezius, and biceps. Ownd

  • I spewed on my monitor when the "Great Thrusters!" came up on that second heat. None of those guys was going deep enough or finishing. Bad form.

    In the first heat the guy with the 7 min + Fran didn't get over the pull up bar for most of them.

  • @ODshadowkat generally from what I have read crossfitters are more interested in intensity than technique, or maybe i should say it's easier to teach technique than it is to teach intensity.
