It's for when they're taking it down the stirp, according to the track's rules (some are different) If the car crashes, the shut the battery switch off to shut off all the electric in the car. And the battery is mounted in the back of the car most likely, which moves more weight to the back :)

Most of Saleen's vehicles are highly modified versions of existing mass produced sports cars such as the Ford Mustang. Ford makes it and then sends it to Saleen to get it's aftermarket modding.

Actually Saleen Mustangs are different from Ford Mustangs. They're sent after being assembled. And technically are not done until Saleen puts their stuff in it. Its different from SVT or Roush. I used to sell Fords, and thats one of the product knowledge that stuck to me good. Saleen has their own 4.6, seats, dash, and suspension. Enough of the car to be called a Mustang, but Plenty to not be considered Ford anymore.

The Mustang is not a sports car, but yes Saleen buys "X" number of Mustangs with different options and builds them from that. The same goes Roush, Shelby and Steeda.
