    The total cost of this apparently benevolent project (including hardware development, marketing, hiring Yves Behar etc) have probably exceeded millions of dollars. Wouldn't it be better served building libraries in developing nations? You know, a book (Those series of pages with black squigly lines) is a proven technology for thousands of years.

    With 100 dollars we can buy 100 books for a kid. Why should my govt spend millions for your American idea of tech education?

  • You have to think bigger though. It's kind of like using rechargeable batteries vs disposable ones. The rechargeable ones cost more, but then you get more out of them. Sure, if a kid is going to only need to read 1 book in his life, it'd be cheaper to give him the book than a computer.

    Also 100 dollars is the price of 1 or 2 college textbooks.
