Such strength and maneuverability. I would like to ride in one. The C-17 has been a site for sore eyes of many a soldier who take it home from war.

The Air Force believes it has "over-capacity" in it's air lift needs.
They claim that Congress has given them more C-17's than they need.
Recall all the news video of Civil Reserve fleet aircraft used in Desert Storm I & II ?
Well, that lift capability is largely gone now.
L-1011's, DC-10's are largely gone and &
747's are slowly disappearing.
It happens in every crisis, not enough heavy airlift.
From Haiti to Afghanistan...the C-17 is doing the job.
Like to see a demo of the C-5M !

Amazing! That beast can fly at about 73 knots without stalling?! That is slow - there are other lifters that have fallen out of the sky by the time they got down that low! Incredible!
