  • I spent about 3 hrs putting my hair up in liberty spikes and my mom washed it all out but I still went anyway! I'll never forget this show.

  • HBHC back then

  • i was there at that show remember the sleepy bear hotel across the street

  • This was a good show...DAG NASTY,EXCEL....SMILEY"OC SUICIDAL BOYZ X3

  • @sick1vob fuk suis,oc skins

  • I want to hear Rodney by Target 13

  • 2:10

  • I was at that show!

  • @yjm - I was there, and was 13. Little kid with a leather jacket and a mohawk.

  • I was there..... 24 years ago....

  • I bet I was at this gig, too. I knew these guys and followed them at all the local shows. Great video, what great memories.

  • I remember seeing these guys in back yard parties in Huntington Beach. FSU!!

Wild times for a 14 year old in 84.

  • This show looks killer!! I wish there was a better quality version of this floating around. Damn I'm getting old, I've been listening to these guys for well over 20 years, not long after Screaming LP came out, had the poster that came with it on my wall.

  • I have a much better version of this show on VHS. If i find somebody down to transfer it over to DVD, i'll work on posting it.

  • this band sniffed alot of glue

  • Great memories from Fenders. I would put this show and the Dag Nasty show up there as two of the best concerts I ever attended. UC and Agnostic Front on the same bill was a dream come true at the time.

  • wellmore.. yes same band.. early stuff way fast hardcore/ punk later 80's stuff was rock and IMO not nearly as good. but alot of hardcore bands in the late 80's started rocking out.. i dunno if that makes it ok but it was definately the trend.

  • did this bad ever play a song called :Staring Into Te Sun" or have an album called Staring into the sun

  • @welmore1331 yes that was their second album

  • Yes. A big change!

  • I was at this show, too! I was 16 at the time, and had long hair: The Straight Edge kids hated me!

  • I was at this gig. I was 12 and in the pit!!! My mom drove me from Montebello and dropped me off and I stood on line for the Golden Voice Ticket. I remember a lot of shit from that night.

  • When I was in High School, my friend played guitar for Social Justice. The played a show with Insted, Uniform Choice and Slapshot. Awesome show!

  • That show was at the Country Club in Reseda. I was there.

  • Yes, the Country Club. I also saw Social Justice play there with Chain of Strength, Inside Out & Outspoken.

  • Thanks for posting. I think I was at this show.

  • And remember when Love Canal would spoof these guys with their t-shirts. What ever happened to those guys and Plain Wrap backyard parties.

  • Pat Dyson ruled the pit. Remember when a bunch of MD dudes were gonna fight some guys from Santa Ana and dubar rolled up in his truck. Great Band.

  • I have this show on vhs. (way better quality) When I get it put on dvd, i'll try to throw it up.

  • great footage , one of the best h/c bands ever, you should try and get the tape looked at by a professional, it would be well worth the cost. Total gem!

  • I saw SNFU there in like 86'....great show, Bad Brains was ridiculous.....yes, lots of fights, yes Suicidals were always causing trouble, but you just had to, "avoid" those folks.....by the way, I wonder if there is footage of the SNFU show, someone climbed up the monitors, and jumped...landed on my head, and I was knocked unconcious for about a minute...I woke up, and people were dragging me out of the area....massive headache, but one of my favorite shows....ahhh, the good ol' days.....

  • Bad Brains at Fender's was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

  • I live in Southern California and always heard stories about this place. It sounded like a combat zone.

Never went because I was too young. A friends older brother did and he said:

-A hispanic group called the suicidals would always fight the skinheads.

-"ratpacking" some poor guy would get chased/beat up by a group

-the sucidals not letting anyone in their circle pit.

    -lots of violence

Any of this true? I would love to hear from others what this place was really like.

  • it wasnt that bad.

  • Yep. I witnessed a few riots at Fender's. Circle One, and Suicidals always causing trouble. UC put on some great shows there, along with YB, Dag and YoT. It was so hot in there, but Fender's was awesome. Great memories as a late teen. "I went to a Fight at Fender's and a concert broke out"

  • You must of been pretty young when you went to these shows. Circle One was early 80's. I know the singer John M. is dead now.

Ive seen videos of shows at Fenders and some of them (MDC,SNFU) were very chaotic.

    And thats a good thing

  • I remember when John Macias died. If I remember correctly, he got shot to death by the cops on PCH because he freaked out and allegedly tried to pull someone from her car. He was good friends with Henry Rollins.

  • pretty much all true. suicidals linked up with a samoan gang and they used just roam the place and stomp out any skinhead. they also had a few big throw downs with the L.A.D.S. I think I still have some nightmares of some of the beat downs I saw there. Cool stories but nothing you really want to witness. Kind of killed the punk scene in a way. Shit just got too out of hand.

  • That sounds crazy. I recently saw a dvd of an SNFU/MDC show at Fenders. Massive chaos. People hanging from these long beams that went across the ceiling. Stage dives galore. What a place!!

    Thanks for the insight, DJmack

  • LOL, I remember seein' it too. If it wasnt a huge show, the "pit control" was pretty lame. I saw a dude getting his eyes gouging out one time, untill a big bouncer saved his ass. Those were the old days. Seen about 35 shows there

  • Too true. But I still have great memories. The Sui's were fucking nuts. I never had any problem with 'em personally, but I saw a lot of fucked up shit, as well. Never had any direct problems at all, come to think of it, except occasionally slipping on puke.

  • Fender's had a lot of shit go down. But I never got into it. But I saw some shit, and I carried a friend of a friend out of there with his knee turned halfway around. But he was an asshole, and a shit starter, so I wasn't surprised. I took him outside, and he was on the curb, with his leg positioned so it hurt less, I guess, and this chick ran out of the bar and puked all over him. I laughed my fuckin' ass off!

  • Yeah, that's all true. There were the Suicidals, the LADS, the skins, etc. They would beat the crap out of anyone in their respective pits.

  • Circle One The Family The League

    L.O.D. Lords Of Destruction

  • I was in the 11th grade when this shit went down... I WAS THERE!!!I still have the original demo from 1984... Fender's Ballroom... ahhh, to be young again!

  • allot of awsome memories @ fenders.. damn were did the time go

  • AMAZING...THANX FOR POSTING!!!

  • i cannot believe this i was at this show over 24 years ago, thanks for the memory.

  • Anybody have a better quality video of this show, i was doing stage dives all night long!!!

  • is this the show they played with G.B.H. as the headliner? They were awesome that night.

  • This was GBH , Agnostic Front and Uniform Choice. The best show i have ever been to !!

  • Too bad the owner burnt down Fenders Ballroom it was a great place to see bands LBC RULES!!

  • I was there too and I also this video in my collection.
