why do they make way over dramatic movements, over crossing their fists and putting their fists right back behind their heads? also it doesn't sound like their concentrating their breathing to a cut off point. it sounds more like their having a stroke. Can we see bunkai for these movements swinging the arms right back behind the head. where did these extra movements come from? have these been added to the kata by calasanz? what are their relevance?
This sanchin is..... Not controlled. No kimé, ibuki breathing is.... Well, not controlled. And the Middle blocks are too narrow, if the ibuki and kimé where correct, this guy would hurt himself because of poor posture, also why is the class not in singular uniform? This is NOT the case. Sakamoto has never taught this kind of "goju" and never will. Also, Alverez Sensei has just been promoted to Hachidan and Kyoshi by Sakamoto Soke and Nakamura Sensei.
Tameyoshi will be on October 2nd and 3rd to Norwalk CT., to Calasanz's Center. Calasanz is being also the Sponsorship of a big tournament in D. R. You need a lesson from Calasanz himself, we do not like liers. We do not like those who lie on front of themselves, probably Calasanz is the only student that no just learnt private from Tameyoshi, but the only of those time that paid him well.
If that was performed in a tournament no one would recognize that as sanchin breathing kata or any kata at that. I took a style called Uniru and we practiced Sanchin. If I remember correctly it is not a style to practice blocking or punching. It is for practicing the art of emptying your lungs and tensing the body to act as a shield to the organs and internals. The purpose is that with enough practice and a hit is evident, you can do this on command with extreme speed and protect yourself from internal damage from a blow. Now correct me if I am wrong, but thats what I was taught.
You need to understand the kata before saying it makes no sense. I took Kenpo with Shotokan kata's. When I had to preform this on my Green Belt test the Black Belt would see if you were focused on the moves and hit you with full power. If the kata is done as it was taught, you didn't feel his hits.
I'm not talking about the kata in general. I'm talking about what I've seen here. By the way I'm in kyokushin for about 10 years and we have Sanchin No kata also.

All i can say is sadly there's a counter that people see on videos to tell how many times they've been watched, and the morbid curiosity of people watching these over and over is jacking up the counters so people who don't know anything will see the count and watch one of these instead of something passed down and time-tested from anywhere the real arts descended from.

Good Breathing, but alot of the techniques are wrong. In goju one is taught not to fully lock out the arms during a punch.
I learnt this kata together with Tensho.

All i can say is sadly there's a counter that people see on videos to tell how many times they've been watched, and the morbid curiosity of people watching these over and over is jacking up the counters so people who don't know anything will see the count and watch one of these instead of something passed down and time-tested from anywhere the real arts descended from.

This is the worst example of a bastardized Goju kata I've ever seen in my life, I didn't know whether to laugh myself off my chair or just cry that people are stupid enough to follow this rubbish. Not to mention the damage he's doing to his students throats with his misinterpretation and total misunderstanding of goju breathing.

I just have to keep commenting on this guy. He's just to funny. I've trained in many different clubs and countries, with many different senseis who've all been to Okinawa and I have never ever seen somebody perform sanchin kata like this.
