    .

    /watch?v=XlP5obNdEbM

  • Midnight Star one of my all time favorite groups from the 80's. Slow Jam my favorite love song from the 80's, yes #1, I love everything about this song.

  • this brings back memories. damn. look at them costumes...and the shoes. Lawd.

  • back when brothers sang their hearts out..without rapping about it godamnit

  • I'm glad I grew up in this era. The 70's, 80's and 90's had the best music ever. This took me back to when I was young and going to those house and basement parties. It never failed this song was alway playing. Music will never be the same especially when soul/r&b was real. True artist and bands killing. The concerts were even better. The music, melody and lyrics were on point. I know time has to change but I wish some things remained the same. Like if you love real music and artist like this.

  • @educatorpoet straight up!

  • Take your time baby!!!

  • will alwys be my jam:) for and my baby:)

  • Kentucky State University Representing!!!

  • This is my jammmmmmmmmmmm if u ever get a chance to go see them LIVE they r much better they give a good show, I go and see them every chance I get.

  • I missed this song.... Nothing like the orginal

  • This the 1st time i heard the original versions i had only heard the usher and monica version from the 90's and when Jamie Foxx sung it and i always loved the song but this one just blew me away WOW

  • @leeleelayla5 The original usually does

  • Babyface is the best songwriter ever!!! S/O 2 him for writing this classic panty dropper!!!

  • DAMNNNNNNN THAT'S GOOD MUSIC!!!!!!!!!

  • one of the best.... personal favorite

  • Thumbs up if Jamie foxx brought you here!

  • @crossfire1234 No teenage memories brought me here!!!

  • that's music right there!!

  • Greatest vocals ever. One of the most underrated groups from the 80s. Musicianship and vocals were unrivaled.

  • One of my favorite songs of ALL time!!! Sing y'alls asses off!!

  • great live music

  • I love this song and it really makes a difference to hear a band play and sing the same way that they did in the recorded version. That's when you know you can sang.

  • I have it all...a man who gives me all...this song fits so good!! Babe, love you with all my heart!!

  • Kids... notice.. there is a full course band playing here. Not no deejay. NOT no gidgets or gizmos.. A BAND.. That's right.. A BAND.. Wait-a-minute.. do yall even know what a band is....? shit let me stop talking to yall.... y'all have no clue.. But kids.. This a band.. trained. worked, studied, and peferfected their craft.. This.. is Midnight Starr, and dont you forget it.. This is music!

  • @BossDogg39 we get the message dude lol

  • @BossDogg39 Haha,,,,,, love it!

  • Kids are you paying attention.."THIS IS MUSIC" NOT THAT SHIT YOU HEAR ON THE RADIO TODAY.. BUT THIS HERE.... IS WHAT WE CALL...."MUSIC" Just listen... hear how they play.... musicians at their finest... kids... pay attention.. plain and simple.. this is music. I can hear everything in this song.. and then some....

  • Kids.... if you was not born before 1985 that's right... I said.. 19 if you was not born before then.. then you know nothing about this and have not a clue of what real music is.. BUT.... we'll give you a chance to redeem yourselves.... "IF" YOU LISTEN to this.. and can appreciate the song, the words, the musicianship and the words of this song.. then you can hang wit us.. if not.. Get your ass to bed.. This grown folk music.. How you think yo ass was made.....??????? Holla!

  • GO KENTUCKY STATE UNIVERSITY ALUMNI

  • I would always ask my big brother to play the song with the car on the alblum back in the day and here it is. It brings back so many memories. luv it

  • D I, got dam this was the shit, especially in concert.

  • this is the best song they could ever made about love.

  • this brought a tear to my eye not because it sad but it made me feel so good !!!!

  • 16 People don't know what real music is. If you can sing it without lip singing that's what was called music. Todays musician don't know how to sing live without all the auto-tuned vocals and that techno grap.

  • @Ludwig1936 Maybe they are Atlantic Star or even Shalamar fans? LOL

  • I wish I could like this 1,000 times infinity this is my jam! They used to do park concerts all the time in Cincy!

  • I wish I could like this 1,000 times infinity this is my jam!

  • this was the 1st song babyface ever wrote

  • Don't get me wrong, I love Atlantic Star and I loooove the song. And there ain't no shame in my game, to each it's own but the lady singer was seemed to be a little manly? Nothing wrong with it......but? I'm just curious, that's all.

  • the time when loving was loving

  • I had da pleasure 2 see them live in my hometown in Macon,Ga,and they still sound awesome now as well as then...Lov U Midnight Star!

  • thats real talent and skill, you had to know how to sing live

  • Sing, Belinda Lipcomb!!!!

  • Sing sister

  • sum1 plz expalin 2 me how they sound jus like if not better thsn the track smh im tellin u these old school songz r the shhhhhh

  • Bo Watson can hit those high notes !! Love this video I swear! !

  • That's not a playback they are really singing for real don't be a hater!!!!! To Whoever said that was a playback

  • seen you guys in concert in san diego i loved you guys,,,,

  • I remember back in the 80's - we used to compete among friends to identify which band is playing by hearing the 10 seconds of musical intro in each song- trying to figure whether this was new track by SOS band, Mtume, Earth Wind & F ,Womack & Womack etc. Every band had its own flavor and style .Now everyone sounds the same.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • so much better than the usher version

  • The vocals are playback.Watch the difference in level and thickness and presence of the voice when he starts to sing in comparison to when he's still speaking. And yeah, i know about studio technology, doesn't change the fact that they were using a playback track for (these) vocals.

  • When I was young I imagined I'd lose my virginity to this song.....wish I could go back and remember to add this to that mix tape :/

  • I'm in a free live concert..loving it!

  • this is some great stuff

  • this song by the legendary midnight star is almost as good as the music on the radio today, lmao, i write that with the utmost sarcasm. i hope today's music burns in hell along with the money the artists sold their souls to the devil for.

  • Fantastic show

  • me and my husbands song we played this at our wedding i love this song so much such a beautiful song with so much passion

  • recently reconnected with Virgil Roberts of SOLAR Records, home of Midnight Star, The Whispers, Shalamar, Carrie Lucas, Dynasty and a whole lot more. We reminisced on Don Cornelius, Dick Griffey, The Calloways, et al. Thank you, Virgil!

  • Your comments as far as what music has evolved into are hilarious, but the situation is sad. I can totally see the future of music being nothing but techno beats and auto-tuned vocals. No more real folks playing instruments and singing. The record industry must have saved a fortune with a pretty big percentage of their artists on their roster having "beats" produced for them and they sing over them (if they don't use auto-tune now).

  • @pluvely Look beyond the mass-market and explore local live music where you live.

  • 14 dummies

  • i love this song

  • oh yeah...taking me back...

  • I johnnyturtle has to be the dumbest people alive to watch this great music then write about something that has nothing to do with these artist what so ever. These are oldies class music for everyone touring Around the world and the one white bastard that didn't and still doesn't get enough love at home needed to feel the love and soul or true r&b

  • ijohnnyturtle shut the fuck up

  • I'm an 80's teenager but wow! All I can say those costumes remind me of the Jetsons...Hahahaha.....but nothing beats the music of the 80's and 90's though!

  • a time machine has got to be invented.......i need say any more

  • true classic!!

  • 14 people are f***ing crazy!

  • Man, I HAD to get this song from iTunes after I heard it on my favorite R&B and Old School radio station! That bass line is so smooth and spot-on, I can hear it driving the whole song. This arrangment is so tight and so well done: this is why the standards last forever. Best of the 80s right here! This live performance is HOT! They don't make 'em like they used to! Damn good music, love the Old School.

  • Classic!!! This is real singing and "performing" when artist gave you your money's worth. There is nothing like a live band too!

  • old school boy the only place u'll find the man taking the high and the girl taking the low lol LOVE IT

  • I wish music was still this good! I guess I will just have to keep listening to the oldies! LOL!

  • why is their lips not in sync with the song.wtf

  • This is for all the old players...........

  • Wow! Remember when this was the slow song you danced to in college? All my Marshall friends who lived it up at the Double Dribble, do you remember??!!

  • Beautiful 80's music.

  • Believe it or not, but I would DJ between Midnight Star off the set at Blytheville AFB, AR and also had the opportunity to dance with BeLinda before they came back on set. Days gone by, but the memories will last.

  • I thought Monica and Usher version was the jam but this is out of this world!!! You rock Midnight Star!!!

  • @keysersoze78 I agree Monica and Usher did a good job on remaking this.

  • 9 minute performance, n i still want more!!! Mmmm!! What the hell happened to the good stuff! good music..the right way to go bout romancin..?! ..thats how you put on a show!!

  • Yeah you can talk to me and get close tho me Bo with that slow jam song ok. All day sos' zi I likze what yo do.

  • Wow...and we danced and fell in love, on a slow jam...talk about butterflies! Slow dancin...*sigh*, good times.

  • This was produced by Babyface in 1983. This type of song evolved into some of the best R&B of the late 80s and early 90s (Jodeci, Boyz II Men, Keith Sweat, Bell Biv Devoe) and fizzled out around the Dru Hill era.

  • im SO glad i grew up on this kinda music, feels good to be a 70s baby when REAL music existed!

  • I can't understand where they get their inspiration's, i can't even

comment how these people change other people life views, wha' t ever just

    a good-good song.

  • This is real music! Good old school; love and peace!

    SoCal Joe!

  • Hi Bo hows it goin'. Plus you too Midnight Star. Wow you guys look fantastic, that suit is awesome Bo I knew Blue was yiuer favorite color. I thoufh blue was the color of the midnight star spaceship.

  • cant get tired of this. Any day I remember it, I play it at least 10 times over and over again. Absolutely fantastic performance.

  • Everytime I see this clip it just makes me wanna go back to those days when Midnight Star was TEARIN UP THE CHARTS with all their hits. I'm talkin REAL RAW GUT TALENT right here!!! They make me so proud! Hometown talent! They always gave a GREAT LIVE CONCERT! I wonder what the members are doing these days???

  • @Msredhoney720 Midnight Star are still out there and performing. My uncle is the bass player and he is just recovering from a recent surgery. They love knowing the impact their music makes on people.....

  • @Dunross3 Thank you so much for that information. I hope and pray for your uncle's speedy recovery!!! You tell him that I still listen to their music EVERYDAY!!! I absolutely LOVE Midnightstar STILL :) If they ever even come close to Cincinnati I will be there!!!

  • yeah, when music was ROMANTIC....hate 2 say it but ...the older i get i find that i just gotta get back 2 the real...and this was the REAL...this is the biznass!

  • Man that woman can sing!!!!!

  • very,very awsome!

  • no we can't go back into the past if so I would go back first to the eighties and stay there this is what music soul music is all about somebody send me back in a time machine back to this era I won't return to this crap we hear today.

  • This was romantic music without sex and disrespect to females!

  • @Melicha28 - so true, but now females disrespect themselves and dance to music that disrespects them. Not smart. But this music celebrated the beauty of a woman, not just her body, but her mind too. The whole women. I love that because a woman is clearly God's greatest creation. But i only women who carry themselves with respect.

  • What an era for music. The 70's, 80's and 90's. Best years of my life.

  • i agree, for me i always look out for 70 80 90, hv a lot on my handphone which i listen to often. i do not care abt recent music tat much

  • aint nothin like the oldies....nothin!

  • They should have A STATUE in Frankfurt, Kentucky to this group.........Birthplace of Midnight Star.

  • I LOVE this song. One of my FAVORITE OLD SCHOOL JAMS. Music will never be this GOOD ever again. That's why I embrace my OLDIES!!!

  • @cary19571 This is an Oldie but Goodie!

  • She did a phenominal performance!

I always sing this song in the shower...

Cuz I can't blow quite like they do '-'

  • Derrick use to sing this song to me every night when we were in junior high school.lol.

  • babyphat1 this when music was straight to the point no bull crap , i love all there songs, they still get played in house

  • Real music! Real musicianship!

  • musica envolvente,

  • Love this band.. Yes I do...

  • Pure soul, raw emotion and showmanship. This is real singing, no pre-recorded tracks n synsethizers and stuff.

  • Is this the original of this song?

  • This is where it all started with me, with this group.

  • Know this one by heart...

one of my favorites to sing in the shower :)

  • @funkateerkitty Hey Girl.. It feels so good to be here...this is music!!!! Damn, what happened to those yesterdays? reminds of a world gone by that won't be revisited.. a time of some of the best music that ever was & ever will be..

Thank you Kitty for sharing a great memory!

Thank you linih2002 for posting an unforgettable classic and memory!

  • perfection...plain and simple..this music is heavenly

  • yes karameldreem you are so right people like bill oreilly like to blat BET and for good reason but he dont mention the fact that now BET is white owned it had better quqlity programing when it was black owned. That is one of the reason the music has gone to shit. Motown and sStax would not record the hit tghey record today doe anyone ever addres that no

  • My friend lives in Baltimore. And when I visit this song is always on the late night shows on the radio.

  • this is the lick right here. panty dropper supreme.

  • Lucent-- where do you live? they play this on the radio all the time in Baltimore.

  • The girl is performing like... Freddie Mercury!

  • wtf why isn't stuff like this on the radio. let the wanna-be gangster stuff leave. the real stuff is probably underground anyway.

  • Them Heffahs sang.....YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

  • sing it girl..she sings that stuff way better than monica...lol

  • This is sooo good. Man, what happened to this kind of music? I know that people are going to say that it evolved. But, what did it evolve into?

  • it evolved into pure shyt and trash with skanks like rihanna and lady gaga leading the way...lolol

  • @pluvely That WAS THE BIG TIME, bro. But unfortunately it's gone...and will never come back again. That was the time of real music!

  • @pluvely CRACK and the material snares is what happened. Killed our communities and souls of Black People. All this thug shit is completely out of hand. We stopped playing instruments and everybody in my generation wanted to be a gotdamn rapper.
