man 15 years ago this happened and i saw it with my own eyes. this really makes me miss saint john. at least i live in moncton now but still not like saint john
They shoula let that contractor make it into apartments. But the city let it sit there for years and it was a hazardous place where our young people and even kids could have been hurt. Whoever allowed this gross neglect should have been charged and convicted like others who have jurisdiction over property and commit infractions

Cool video man I remember watching this on TV when I was 2 years old. Oh and buy the way quick question didn't ATV change their ident opening in 1994.
This actually was also featured on the Discovery channel, Jay Ingram interviewed the lady that worked for the demolition company on the technique involved in such implosions.
Thanks for posting this,I remeber watching this from my house as a kid.Too bad it was a beautiful building.I used to have pictures of the awesome spiderman painted on it.
14 years later, this is nothing significant on the location where the old hospital once stood, except some `box` building. Still a good piece of real estate.
i was born january 1982 , i dont know what year this was, but my mom has pictures of this, just not video, its neat to see it in video, Love New Brunswick though, old home sweet home.
I think it's so cool that the dome from that hospital is still a little landmark in our city. :)
....couldn't they have picked a better location for it, though? I mean, it's right by one of the shittiest intersections in the city. Maybe they were going for a 'Beauty and the beast' thing with it. XD
I think I was about 7 or 8 yrs old and was there to see it, I think it scared me to the point I cried lol does anyone remember what year it was demolished?
I remembered when this came down, I skipped school and watched it from a rooftop. It's unfortunate that it did come down, I've only now seen pictures of the interior and what it was like.
The new building looks like a shoe box, I'll grant you that..but there is a lot of good things happening there. Post Secondary education for example issues millions in grants every year to assist people going back to school.
You should stick it up on e-bay and see what happens. Just give it a better background story. "This brick went through 3 car windows and landed in an upright position...or better yet, chizzle the Virgin Mary or jesus on it and claim you found it that way."
I know you been everywhere Hank (sorry...cound't resist the pun) but if only things were that simple. The only way to fix all the problems (healthcare, education, manicipality infastructure) is to tax us at 100%. And I for one think we are taxed too much as it is.
Now if only they would do the same thing to St. Joseph's.....just kidding...just kidding.
too bad sherly macalary is a fucking retard, all we got was a shitty goverment building that looks unfinished. saint john needs to get its ass in gear
Out of curiousity, was there compensation for those whose windows were broken?

the way to fix all our issues is not to tax us even higher, it is to stop
using a debt based money system.. ofcourse Saint John alone would
never do this, but Canada could..

What a shame! If only someone stepped in to redevelop that building! It had so many possibilities.

When this building was in use Saint John & area had
what we would now consider adequate health care. Money
Grubbers got their collective heads together & you see
what happened next.
New hospital's siding torn off in a wind storm,
sucking out insulation & you could see the inside from
the outside! This event represents the "Death" of health care in
the Saint John area, perhaps all NB.
To see people cheering this mutilation is sickening!Beautiful, someone said? Who got rich on this

The 'death of healthcare', and yet people are flown in from all over the Maritimes to seek medical treatment at our hospital.
The building was unsafe anyway. It was going to come down sooner or later on its own, as it was. Why do you think it was condemned?
