    LOL! Hamsters writing! Amazing!

  • this was the cherry to my cake of child hood omg.

  • The show in Canada had GP like WC Fields. He was funny. I like the Canadian version better. Hammy's a little more skittish.

  • Are those...Are those Rodents seriously dangling from midair in a small plastic plane?

  • I think Hammy was very brave.. and, of course, no hamsters were scared shitless during the filming of this episode. They were all paid well enough in those days.. except the farmyard hens.. got paid chicken-feed.

  • poor wittle hamster! but it defiantly but a smile on my face:D

  • That turtle is pissed off his letter got wet, you can tell!

  • Well, this is what I love and hate about You Tube too - lots of memories from the great programmes of your childhood, and lots of idiots shouting and swearing at each other about something so innocent., Yuck.

  • I want to see Hammy Hamster being eaten by a Python!!!

  • I love the idea of GP filling in a football pools coupon.

These days, he'd probably buy lottery tickets and scratchcards.

  • That was pretty cruel to dangle a hamster like that. Poor thing!

But I love this show so much! ^^

  • children to day are to thick full of chips and coke

  • omg i feel kinda bad for laughing at a poor little hamster hanging from a string! doesn't anyone else see that as cruel??

  • My hamster was called Hameo but i nicknamed him Hammy.

REST IN PEACE HAMEO, i miss you :'( xxx

  • Any idea where the versions of this are with the original audio by Paul Sutherland can be found?

  • GP had won £500 on the 'spot the ball' competition as well. He had every right to be pissed.

  • OMG! Sooooo cute!!!

  • WAs this shown in ''Watch with Mother''? Anyway, my favourite prog when a little girl. Hammy is so sweet. Flying Hamster. Those were the days - of GOOD CHILDRENS TELLY. They'd never put a prog on like this now with real animals...However, it also reminds me of my age, oh, well. HAMMY FOREVER!

  • @MrsJosephMerrick Indeed,PETA would be up in arms about this show nowadays!

  • i love this show!!

  • my childhood. haha the moment when hammy goes of the plain wing...

I had two hamsters when i was little nd i couldnt decide which one to call hammy so i called them both hammy looool xXx

  • Oh what a joy to see these again I laughed until I couldn't breath! THANX

  • lol at football pools coupon.....

  • WAHAHAHA! THIS SHOW WAS MY CHILDHOOD.

  • >>>god I miss this show...

I looked forward to this show everyday after school

    GP's the king!

  • 3:59 to 4:01 makes me laugh

  • this was made in canada but this one has difrent voices but still funny

  • omg this is so funny me my mum and my sister are in tears lol

    x

  • cool, I used to watch this show from the same tape over and over again

  • these are so cute

  • This is what I love about youtube! Anything from your childhood is bound to be on here! Of course, the version of this I remember was in black and white.

  • Johnny Morris - of Animal Magic fame! Ah yes, I remember it well... :-)

  • wow, they didn't care so much about animal rights back then, did they?

  • Give me a break! This show was just great! These animals probably had alot more fun on this show set than sitting in a pet store cage running on their hamster wheel all day!!

  • calm the fuck down, this was the best show ever. fortunately we didn't have that southpark garbage.

  • I remember this episode, but with different voices. I remember GP sounded like a bad impersonation of WC Fields. Wasn't there a version with Canadian/American voice actors? It aired here in Canada on TVOntario.

  • Quite possibly as the show was originaly made in Canada

But here in the UK It was always Johnny Morris

doing all the voices. It would not seem right to me to hear it any other way.

Without Johnny's laid back relaxing voice

and his gift of being able to talk just like a Hamster !!!

It just wouldn't be the same

    regards Nightbusdriver2

  • Paul Sutherland (the show's creator) narrated the original Tales of the Riverbank and Hammy Hamster's Adventures On the Riverbank. I wish I could find those versions. His voice was so soothing. GP was awesome with his WC voice!

  • @dwiley3 I thought I was going mad! I knew something was off and then I clued into the voices. It just seems....unnatural.

  • @dwiley3 I thought something seemed odd about the voices too... I watched them as a kid in Canada as well. You're probably right about them using different actors in the UK.

  • @dwiley3 you're thinking of "once upon a hamster" that used to air on hbo early in the morning in like the early-mid 90's. that's what i was looking for when i found this.
