Jamaicans have dance called Dinky Mini and the Jamaican Maypole dance is very similar to the Tambu. Yes Tambu seems to come from Curacao but you can find variant forms of African gyration elsewhere in the Caribbean as well.
Jamaica and Curacao have slavery in common. Tambu was a dance that was develouped by the slaves. The Dutch jerks forced a lot of Africans to Curacao, Bonaire, Suriname and some in Aruba. Out of that terrible history great and powerful beats got ingeniously created.
First, slavery is a phenomenon which has plagued history, from the infancy of our species, till the modern day.
Second, the Dutch (and other European nations) were not the only ones complicit in forcing Africans from their homeland to be used as slaves. Many African tribe leaders took part in the capture and the auction of fellow countrymen, from neighbouring tribes.
Where did these "jerks" get the idea that slavery was OK? The Bible! Which of course condones slavery.

I'd like to know more about Aruban, Bonairean, and Curacaoan music.
So far, I don't know near as much about any of it as I do about Jamaican music.
