I actually like this new opening. They show part of the Hospital in the daytime halfway through the opening and it reminds me of the opening they had in the 70's and 80's somewhat. *** ONE REQUEST -BRING BACK THE AMBULANCE SIREN at the very beginning of it, that would REALLY give the old time feel with the new style as well. GH has been missing the boat on that one, big time. Overall though, thumbs up.

I remember the opening from the 90s as my mother and grandmother have watched this show every day since before I was born and I remember sitting with them during many episodes when I was really young. That was a really great opening piece of music and I feel really nostalgic for it. I just saw THIS with my grandmother who I'm visiting right now...and THIS SUCKS! I never realized they changed it.

I am a huge fan of opening credits. I love the fact that soaps still use them. As opposed to many primetime shows that just pop up the title card for 5 seconds and then super the actors and actresses names over the first few minutes of the first segment.
This update is really wonderful. They use the same music which has been GH's signature forever. The also do something that I have never seen a soap do before; they put the actors and actresses names up with their clips! I love that!
the original theme was tired, but should have been updated ......though it's nice to see the hospital in the background to pay homage to the shows roots. Autumn Breeze was a beautiful closing them, too for the show.
this is bull why do they make sonny look like the bad guy and why are they still trying to make donte and sonny have the father son relationship its never gonna happen and why lulu say something who cares what she thinks the writers are lowering general hospital and donte and sonny need better lines and roles and if that does not happen i not gonna watch general hospital no more its turning into being not even a soap just a tv show that comes on and barely no one sees it! >=[

Anywho, from what they switched to in 2004 they shouldve just kept Faces of the Heart. Aside from Y&R it was one of the best all time theme songs in Soapland. Y&R hasnt changed theirs in decades and its still loved and the most recognizable. Besides that song is a throwback to some of GHs best years
So when is AMC and OLTL going to have their new opening credits, most of the time, if one ABC show gets one the others should follow soon, I am wondering becasue of AMC movine to LA and OLTL working on who is going to be a main cast that they are waiting to finalize it all before they make a new one!! U R Right,I think ABC Soaps will be the very last 2 go,becuase ABC Makes a TON and Tons of Money off super soap weekend a franchise CBS and NBC Never Invested In,I dont think the loss of viewers are entirely the blame of the medium,even prime time shows are not doing what the soaps did during there hey day,there are more choices out there now,2 tell the truth in 1980 if i had the choice of popping in a dvd movie or search 500 channels and order shows on demand,I may not have been watching "GH"

Ok, I like it, but if it was suppose to be updated, where are Morgan and Molly? I know that they are really young on the show, but they are on most episodes. If they included Michael and Kristina, they should have put the other two in there also.

I'm so tired of hearing about the Faces of Heart music. It was a nice change at the time, but it had ZERO to do with the traditional theme. The recent theme is a jazzed up version of the classic General Hospital theme. I can't stand it when shows completey throw away their history for totally new songs. This one pays homage to the original. Meanwhile, thank god for finally featuring the current cast.
I dont mind the jazzier music, it's actually quite cool, but the last opening was flashing a little too quickly, although it had a nice beat, but was enough to cause some seizures.
At least now the opening is calming down. And it is nice to actually see the current cast. I love the GH music, it was always good.
@gemris "Faces of the Heart" was also based on the theme ("Autumn Breeze") by Jack Urbont that was used throughout the '80s until April 1993. The opening intervals (rising perfect fourth followed by perfect fifth) provide the clue.
i love it. i hated that they didnt update their intro for like the longest time. when the other two soaps update theirs almost all the time when someone new somes along on their show.
FINALLY a replacement for that awful previous opening. Faces of the Heart should've been reused BUT this one is nice. Glad to see that show the character names along with the actors names....that's just good judgement on the show's part!
I hate how Laura and Kelly get one of the first 4 spots in the beginning and the vets that deserve it get the middle like they don't matter to the show.
Notice how all the mob related characters are in the beginning, even newer ones before actors that have been on longer. Since they changed the opening, they should have renamed the show to "General Mobster".

"New opening"?? seems the same to me, Sonny, Jason, Carly and Sam all have longer shots where you can actually read their names whereas everyone else disappears if you blink.
You're right, from Sonny to Alexis the pics are 2 seconds and the rest are 1 second each.
Maybe it's good they have longer shots because Brianna Brown (Dr. Lisa Niles) and Scott Reeves (Dr. Steven Webber) have contracts with GH and maybe their pictures will be added in the credits later.
And that'll make the beginning credits just as short as the other ones.
its ok but i really prefer the old one it screams General Hospital. but the part i hate the most with the new credits are the backgrounds. Sorry . they just look chessey to me. how could they replace the old one. it needed a slight upgrade but not what they have now. the ending of the old credits for gh was iconic. y did they remove it.

I actually like the newer credits much better. It seems to flow more smoothly. I am surprised that the show has 27 cast members in the opening credits. I hope that they use these for some time to come.

And all those who like the character names being added, they did that several years ago (not the actors names but the characters) it didnt go over well then. They changed it within a year to 18 months Im pretty sure.
Not thrilled with Jax's backdrop more appropriate that he be near a Jet or even the MetroCourt , Alexis (and yes Diane even maybe although I understand the contract status) outside a courthouse a shot Alexis hugging both her girls. What I am saying is that some of our favorite characters who arent contract (max, Milo, Coleman, Diane, Lisa) could have been in the backdrop scenes... would it have been so hard to put a shot of Karoke Night at Jakes in there, that had near the entire cast.
The music isnt so bad, I wish they could have used something more instrumental like they did on Night Shift as the borrowed a lot of the Towns famous new places from the images they created for Night Shift and glad to see they arent going to waste if we got no other seasons of that.
Okay, I love the new beginning. But I don't get the tags for the video. Why are Stuart Damon, Alan Quartermaine, Sarah Brown, Claudia Zacchara, James Franco on the tags? They are no longer on the show, nor are they in the video.
I love that they are using the actors' names....but what is up with Sam? They should have either gave her a different hairstyle or zoomed in a little closer or had her smile or something! Oh well, at least she's still with Jason =)
Sonny&Ethan look like pervs, Jason's holding in a laugh, Nik's constipated & Luke just hates taking opening credit shots lol. Mac, Pat, & Matt look hot tho, that's a plus.

Is it just me or do the beginning of the credits go by pretty fast (barely have time to read) and then once you hit Robin there's suddenly enough time to read? It's like some one didn't space out the time correctly.
Stupid! Why do they put the actors in the opening? This will on be relevant for a short time and then people will come and people will go. Do they plan to do another one in a year?? Also, I liked the old one where all the men were there and then Tony Geary walks away... something unique about that opening! Boo GH!
There are imperfections with this, like the fact that they go by some characters waaay too fast! But overall is leaps and bounds better than the old one with all the dead characters in it.
The part I dislike the most is the music! AWFUL! This is a little closer to old school opening which I like, so they should have gone all the way and used the "Faces of the Heart" opening music. It would have been much more appropriate and I think it goes better with this opening
It has been that way since 2004. The main characters are shown first (Sonny, Carly, Jason, Sam, Jax), followed by their supporters, then Liz and her followers... then Maxie and the younger crowd, and then the Q's with Luke
Definately worth the wait although I think there are a few contract players missing, Steven Webber comes to mind but maybe they filmed this before he was put on contract. Either way, nice work GH!
It's alright. Great to see the character name & the actor's name. Loved seeing Robin & Patrick hugging on the hospital roof between Kimberly McCullough & Jason Thompson's section! And John J. York! I kove Uncle Mac.
This episode was well-planned, I think. I have been sick of the mob crap for a very long time, but it looks like they're setting the stage for most of the major GH characters to be more involved, and at least that's an improvement.

Did anyone notice they showed Liz (Rebecca Herbst) with the Wyndemere backdrop? Dropping hints, maybe but it was weird that they showed Lucky (JJ) with the Wyndemere backdrop, can't he get his house or something or the Haunter Star?

Ok, I like it, but if it was suppose to be updated, where are Morgan and Molly? I know that they are really young on the show, but they are on most episodes. If they included Michael and Kristina, they should have put the other two in there also.

It has been long said that only people who are on contracts would be in the opening sequences Morgan and Mollys actors are not contract,
Michael and Kristina are.
Thats also why we dont have the rest of the cast on there, they are also not contractual.

i like this opening because of how they have the character name and the actors name like they do on Y&R. I also like how they show places where the show takes place. And its soooo much better then the last one

I'm so tired of hearing about the Faces of Heart music. It was a nice change at the time, but it had ZERO to do with the traditional theme. The recent theme is a jazzed up version of the classic General Hospital theme. I can't stand it when shows completey throw away their history for totally new songs. This one pays homage to the original. Meanwhile, thank god for finally featuring the current cast.

I dont mind the jazzier music, it's actually quite cool, but the last opening was flashing a little too quickly, although it had a nice beat, but was enough to cause some seizures.
At least now the opening is calming down. And it is nice to actually see the current cast. I love the GH music, it was always good.

@gemris "Faces of the Heart" was also based on the theme ("Autumn Breeze") by Jack Urbont that was used throughout the '80s until April 1993. The opening intervals (rising perfect fourth followed by perfect fifth) provide the clue.

FINALLY a replacement for that awful previous opening. Faces of the Heart should've been reused BUT this one is nice. Glad to see that show the character names along with the actors names....that's just good judgement on the show's part!

Notice how all the mob related characters are in the beginning, even newer ones before actors that have been on longer. Since they changed the opening, they should have renamed the show to "General Mobster".

"New opening"?? seems the same to me, Sonny, Jason, Carly and Sam all have longer shots where you can actually read their names whereas everyone else disappears if you blink.

You're right, from Sonny to Alexis the pics are 2 seconds and the rest are 1 second each.
Maybe it's good they have longer shots because Brianna Brown (Dr. Lisa Niles) and Scott Reeves (Dr. Steven Webber) have contracts with GH and maybe their pictures will be added in the credits later.
And that'll make the beginning credits just as short as the other ones.

its ok but i really prefer the old one it screams General Hospital. but the part i hate the most with the new credits are the backgrounds. Sorry . they just look chessey to me. how could they replace the old one. it needed a slight upgrade but not what they have now. the ending of the old credits for gh was iconic. y did they remove it.

I actually like the newer credits much better. It seems to flow more smoothly. I am surprised that the show has 27 cast members in the opening credits. I hope that they use these for some time to come.

However, that THEME song has to GO! It is cheesy and straight out of the 80s!
Why spend upwards of $150K on beautiful new cast shots and graphics and then crap it up with the same cheap theme?!
Can't anyone at ABC Daytime get anything right?
Even the people here on YouTube have replaced this awful track with the original Faces of the Heart track -- which fits perfectly with the style and pace of the open.

And all those who like the character names being added, they did that several years ago (not the actors names but the characters) it didnt go over well then. They changed it within a year to 18 months Im pretty sure.

Not thrilled with Jax's backdrop more appropriate that he be near a Jet or even the MetroCourt , Alexis (and yes Diane even maybe although I understand the contract status) outside a courthouse a shot Alexis hugging both her girls. What I am saying is that some of our favorite characters who arent contract (max, Milo, Coleman, Diane, Lisa) could have been in the backdrop scenes... would it have been so hard to put a shot of Karoke Night at Jakes in there, that had near the entire cast.

Okay, I love the new beginning. But I don't get the tags for the video. Why are Stuart Damon, Alan Quartermaine, Sarah Brown, Claudia Zacchara, James Franco on the tags? They are no longer on the show, nor are they in the video.

Is it just me or do the beginning of the credits go by pretty fast (barely have time to read) and then once you hit Robin there's suddenly enough time to read? It's like some one didn't space out the time correctly.

Stupid! Why do they put the actors in the opening? This will on be relevant for a short time and then people will come and people will go. Do they plan to do another one in a year?? Also, I liked the old one where all the men were there and then Tony Geary walks away... something unique about that opening! Boo GH!

There are imperfections with this, like the fact that they go by some characters waaay too fast! But overall is leaps and bounds better than the old one with all the dead characters in it.
The part I dislike the most is the music! AWFUL! This is a little closer to old school opening which I like, so they should have gone all the way and used the "Faces of the Heart" opening music. It would have been much more appropriate and I think it goes better with this opening

It has been that way since 2004. The main characters are shown first (Sonny, Carly, Jason, Sam, Jax), followed by their supporters, then Liz and her followers... then Maxie and the younger crowd, and then the Q's with Luke

Definately worth the wait although I think there are a few contract players missing, Steven Webber comes to mind but maybe they filmed this before he was put on contract. Either way, nice work GH!

This episode was well-planned, I think. I have been sick of the mob crap for a very long time, but it looks like they're setting the stage for most of the major GH characters to be more involved, and at least that's an improvement.
