Red Orchestra 2 Beta: First Impressions

Having played the original RO for over 700 hours and now having cranked over 200 on this version, still like the origianl better. The "heal" system and ability to get hit several times and not die makes it too arcade-like (RO you would drop your weapon/slow down when hit). BF3 has amazing dynamic gameplay and if a WW2 mod for it was made it would be awesome. RO2 is not too bad when played on hardcore realism servers with leveling turned off, but normal mode is too arcade-like.

It is great, just be sure to not get mad at the bugs if you start playing soon, TW are working hard on fixing them.

@WigTuts Yeah, I had one bug on the commander training mission, where the artillery that you call in deflected off trees and an invicible roof.. It's fixed now though :)

COD has so many lame (yes they are funny too but cheap) kills.

A HUGE plus that it's a high quality WWII shooter with many much usage of Bolt Action Rifles :D :D :D I am sooo happy. Now I just have to find it in stores. I do not want to download it...

@simok97 It's not such a crazy idea. I've got one, too. Mosin Nagants are cheaper than dirt, even today. You can get one for $100 if you know where to look. In my opinion they're probably the best first rifle.

Umm, isn't it good that the game has a long learning curve?

90% of all videogames are ''accesible'' for everyone to play. This means that they doesn't neccesary require any real skill to play. Those 10% that are left shouldn't be erased.. they should be there. If ppl don't like it, just play any of the other games.

In the future videogames will probably play by itself while the ''player'' just sits in the sofa and stares at the screen like an idiot.

It is comparatively unforgiving, but then you realize "I just ran out in the open, no wonder I died." This is not one of those games where you can get shot 10 times and keep going. All of the parameters are set to mimic reality to a T. It's arguably a simulator.

Betas usually run with low fps. I think that will rise when the game releases. Thank God this game is not BF3 like (gfx) so it can work for more gamers :)

bc2 wasnt really demanding yet it has some really nice graphics dx11 ect. im not worried about bf3 one bit graphics wise. but when i first played this beta i was startled with performance. im on a i5 750@4ghz with a gtx 580.. this should be more then up to par with this game. if you can run this game ultra settings now. you can easily run bf3

I think in game modes such as domination/conquest/rush where the objective isn't to kill but to capture/attack/defend etc I think when your playing those game modes you shouldn't get ANY points for killing the enemy

It would completely eliminate any sort of "kill-whoring" and force players to play the objective

Stalingrad was a harsh and unforgiving battleground Blink, especially as both sides understood the symbolism of the city, not that is was necessarily a strategic city to have. I would say the game is quite realistic.
