It's a 533 Mhz ARM processor, it will be difficult to emulate PSX at full speed, but it is possible.
The simulation software will have to be optimized. This isn't a trivial task. The PSX runs at 33 Mhz and is a custom MIPS processor. A 1Ghz x86 has a hard time doing it, and GCC is pretty optimized for it.
a 233 g3 does it just fine. Check out virtual game station by connectix. Runs full speed on any first generation imac (that 233mhz). The arm is no G3, but the wiz has much better 3d hardware than a first gen imac and faster memory as well. No, the arm does not have an fpu.
The console is not even out yet and this is a 10 minute port from an emulator for another machine made by someone who didn't even have a Wiz prototype.
I don't understand, it runs at the same speed than gp2x (f-100) and has the same but faster cpu. Even if is not optimized it should run 2x speed minimum.
Finally, way pandora can run unoptimized psx emulator at full speed at same mhz? Has a better cpu with floating point, but the difference is to high.
The slowness might be related to the non optimization for 3d accelerated graphics card which isn't really present in the older gp2x's but is available in the Wiz.
Still, I am not certain a 533 Mhz Arm will be able to run a PS1 emulation at full speed. I hope so though.

it doesn't use 3d hardware, as you stated, it's the same as the gp2x one, the pandora one was optimized for the machine and it uses 3d hardware too
