  • Thanks for bringing that up. When I crochet my own projects, I do use the more streamlined "hooking" method because I've crocheted more and I can process what my hook is doing at a higher speed.

The method I'm demonstrating here is more of a step-by-step process, and I've found it really helps younger crocheters learn the basics. It seems to give them less to focus on at time. This way they can learn the motions, but still have room to discover and learn more techniques later on.

  • I also wanted to add (I ran out of room on the previous comment):

I do think it's great you are producing videos like this. I am always amazed at the lack of knowledge when it comes to sewing and handicrafts.

  • Are you meaning for this to be simple? The way you are holding your yarn and "throwing" or wrapping it around is a more labor intensive method than "picking" up the thread with the hook. The only way I have ever seen crocheting done is the left hand holds the yarn and the work while the right hand "weaves" the hook back and forth making the stitches.

Throwing is not as streamlined as hooking your yarn - am I sounding too much like Mr. Gilbreth on Cheaper By the Dozen? ;-)
