Archery hunting to me is more respect for the animal. i have to get close, and be more of a true hunter. To each their own. Elephants are over populated in relation to the space we are leaving for them. Maybe the issue is not whether they are endangered. It is the impact these activities generate. And nobody can argue on that. Do we own the planet and have the self centered right to use and abuse all the species? The reason to DO this still escapes my understanding. Plus the money generated helps go back into the local people. The meat will be used to feed them as well. Pretty much a win win situation for everyone even the elephants. Its conservation, and is essential for the preservation of the species.

First. The elephant is protected in parks, so their population can grow fastly and problem occurs for the populations around. You must regulate them (the elephant, of course :°D ). Safari hunt is a way to regulate the elephant. But I'm not sure that killing an elephant with a bow is a good thing in itself... :°/ (impressive, this said even if I feel sad). And about the couriers, the problem in Africa isn't the animal you see and aim. But the ones you don't see...

I"m an avid bowhunter and practice diligently to ensure I get clean, fast kills. I noticed how shaky your bow was during the entire shot sequence. Can you really trust yourself to get the best possible shot for a clean kill when it's clear that the weight you're pulling is too much for you? I also question the efficacy of a bow for an animal as large as an elephant. Sure it can kill, but not quickly as with other big game animals.

A small note, I once looked into what kind of bow it took to hunt elephant. I've Heard a minimum of 85 pounds draw weight (how hard you have to pull back on a bow). The suggested average is 100 pounds draw weight. For a little comparison, 10 lbs is for the bow your parents gave you when you were 9, a 30 pound bow for small game, and a 45 - 70 lb draw weight for North American game.

Okay, So I am a wildlife biologist senior at Clemson. Correct me if I am wrong but in most African countries where you can hunt dangerous game arent there legal limits on the minimum caliber used to hunt. So how is hunting with a bow legal if it doesnt impart as much knockdown power to the animal as say a "trex" rifle etc.

Theres videos on here that shows enough information that you dont have to do any reading, you just have to use common sense. The locals dont take chances, if you use common sense per say in this video the you will see there are at least two guys with guns. The elephant will die anyway and the locals will feast
