  • great lesson! when you start playing at 6:00 , youre playing 6 stroke rolls, or what rudiments?

  • @javier20893 Thanks so much!!! The first one is just a ruff, but the other is single stroke 6 note phrases.

  • I got a copy of Jim Chapin and it help out a lot.

  • @emmettnlsn Awesome. Great book!!

  • This was the best. I could not play be-bop before this video. Thank you very much. I have been trying for years to learn how to play some jazz fills like that. Do you have anything for bass drum in jazz.

  • @emmettnlsn Thanks so much. Glad to hear it helped you out. I don't have any bass drum fills, but if you give me an idea of what you are looking for I will post some.

  • Thankyou so much!

  • @asur2011 Of course. Happy drumming.

  • I have just started to learn jazz drums this semester. I have to get the improv part down because I have a jazz drum solo to do for our group, and we're performing for midterms next week. I have a good feeling that these two videos are going to help me out big time. Thanks for the help. Greatly appreciated.

  • Thanks for your presentation, Jason! If you don't mind, the 2 Bar phrase you are using is from John Riley's first book - The Art of Bopping..Comping Section on Page 18.
