  • God I miss his tallent and all of his unique and wonderful songs. His song - Long Hard Road with Roy Rogers just makes me cry each time I hear it...Check it out on YouTube and you will see what I mean.

  • RIP - a true talent

  • This is how Norton looked the first time I saw him. A fan for 33 years, none better. Never have heard another harp player as good as him. Miss you Norton.

  • I am so glad you taped this. Sure takes me back.

  • This is about the time I first met Norton in San Andreas Ca. way back,, followed him through the years seeing him at various clubs in our area. I last saw him and his wife not too long before we lost him in Sutter Creek and I asked him about these old songs, he said if I had those albums "Loving in the Valley of the Moon" " Desert Horizen" to hang on to them. I have them and I cherish them. Loved him, miss him. Best I ever heard.

  • I saw an interview the other night--Jeff Bridges on The Charlie Rose Show. Jeff spoke of his associations, collaborations with artists that he clearly admired and mentioned Norton Buffalo. I had forgotten that at one time I was rocked and deeply affected by him and rediscovered I had the vinyls and CD of Lovin' in the Valley of the Moon + Desert Horizon. Have played it over and over since. I never saw him in concert. Never saw him perform. Thank you, artski for this breathtaking upload!

  • Loved him since valley of the moon.

  • A very soft-spoken guy, Norton. I met him when he played at St Chapelle winery in Nampa, ID with slide guitarist Roy Rogers in 2004. Both were very cool guys and just loved to chat with and play for their fans. They even played a couple Robert Johnson songs for me when I told them I'd leared some classic Blues on guitar. (One was Robert Johnson, the other they just picked & jammed on. Can't remember the name. I think one was 'Terraplane Blues').

  • This must have been around the time we saw him in Alviso of all places. Does anyone have "Rosalie"? I still can't believe he's gone.

  • rip Norton buffalo

  • I remember when this was released as a single in the late seventies. It turned me on to his music. Thanks to that single release, I found Echoes of the Last Stampede, a haunting but beautiful instrumental piece featuring his harp and synthesizer. I'm surprised I haven't seen (heard) it on this site. Someone, please post it for those who've never heard it.

  • has anyone heard of "the buffalo stampede", Norton's band and it was tight!

  • I used to play the hell out of this album when I lived in a little shack in Monterey. Nice to hear this song again, I'm transported.

  • I got a Loving in the Valley as a 2 album CD from Amazon of all places...was a UK release with Valley of the Moon and a newer more disco feel record....so happy to have it

  • Maybe eBay..they are HARD to find..but soooooooooo worth the search!

    good luck

  • Anyone know where to get a copy of "Lovin in the Valley of the Moon"?

  • @MrBatgwanno Used vinyl copies appear for sale on Amazon.com reasonablly priced... the CD that has both his solo albums (Lovin' in the Valley of the Moon, and Desert Horizon) are listed at $117 and up !

I treasure all my Norton albums !

  • what a great guy! Musselwhite and him are my harmonica heroes.

I missed Norton...wish him well and a safe trip to the valley of the moon.

  • RIP Norton

  • We miss you already! Such a great musician , person and wonderful spirit.

  • RIP Norton!

    He died Yesterday.....

IMHO the finest harp player EVER TO WALK ON GODS EARTH

  • The diatonic harmonica in the intro of the song is in the key of A. The solo in the middle of the song is on CBH-2016 chromatic.

  • At this point in his career Norton used Huang Star Performers and Huang Silvertone diatonic harmonicas. The chromatic harmonica is a Hohner CBH 2016 designed by Cham-Ber Huang.I know these statements to be true because I was a harmonica technician for Huang and have repaired Norton's harmonicas.

  • How'd you get such good audio quality? Did you mic them?

Oh and the keys player looks like Will Ferrell character lol.

  • Can you tell me what key of harp he is playing, Thanks!

  • I believe he's on a good old Honer Marine Band in this case

  • chromatic

  • i love Norton (: he is the nicest person ever

my family knows him, ive had dinner with him many times hes a good friend:D

i love love love his music!

    wow hes young here lol
