Whatever Arthur died of, Katherine had it too and recovered, or so i hear. Therefore, i highly doubt it was testicular cancer. More likely to be the sweating sickness or something similar.
It's not Phillippa Gregory, she has finished her Tudour series and is moving onto the Plantagenets. I've just looked at Alison Weir's website and it says her next plans are for a fiction book on Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry II (which I cannot wait for!) I would assume it will be Starkey but I cannot find confirmation, but will be a fab read.
Oh good. Now she can take another era in English history and write historical fiction that has no actual historical accuracy. If you want good historical fiction set in the Tudor era, read something by Robin Maxwell. Her books are some of my favorite.
Well thats youtr opinion, but all fiction involves aspects of imagination, facts can only get you so far. Some of the points she makes in the books aree factual and others use facts and imagation as a basis. But thank you for your suggestion I will look at books by Robin Maxwell.
I'm glad there is going to be a book about Arthur, it'll be an interesting read. Yes, Starkey makes weird claims about his death. It does seem that he died of the sweating sickness - or something similar at least. Catherine got ill too so if it was tuberculosis, wouldn't that have had serious after effects on her?
Read my above comment regarding the book (a response to kellyannk308's comment), I think many believe it was the 'sweating sickness' as people recovered (albeit rarely) from it. It may have been something else though?
